Yveltal -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Yveltal Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Yveltal from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Yveltal is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 130, a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Yveltal does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Oblivion Wing, for one darkness energy card this move does 30 damage, in addition to the damage, this move also lets you move a darkness energy card from your discard pile and attach it to one of your benched Pokemon.  Yveltal's second move is called Darkness Blade, for three energy cards, two darkness and one colorless, this move does 100 damage, however, if you get a tails when flipping a coin, Darkness Blade can not be used the next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Yveltal is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card does have a BREAK evolution which I'll be reviewing tomorrow that you may want to use with this card.  On its own, Yveltal could be a dominant starter type Pokemon in a darkness type deck since it can attack for only one energy card, or it could be set up on the bench and be used as a one hit knockout attacker late in the game with the use of Darkness Blade and a Trick Coin trainer to give you a better chance at being able to use this move every turn.  This card can also be used in a deck that requires attacking Pokemon to discard energy when attacking, you could use those Pokemon first, then retreat them, and use Oblivion Wing to get cards re-attached to them.  So overall, if you're building a darkness type deck, I would highly recommend taking a strong look at this card.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  If you're building a darkness type deck, this is a card you'll definitely want to use, this card has a well above average HP, and two great moves.  So look no further than this Yveltal card if you're looking for a strong darkness type Pokemon card to use in your deck.

Bisharp -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Bisharp Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Bisharp from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Bisharp is a Stage 1, metal and darkness type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Bisharp does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Retaliate and for one colorless energy card this move does 30 damage plus 60 more damage if any of your own Pokemon were knocked out during your opponent's last turn.  Bisharp's second move is called Mach Claw and for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, this move does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Bisharp is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pawniard into play (I reviewed Pawniard from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pawniard into Bisharp.  If you read yesterday's review of Pawniard, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Although it was quite limited without multiple Pawniard cards in a deck, the card still could attack for one energy card, had a low retreat cost, and a solid HP.  So knowing this about Pawniard and looking at this Bisharp card, the best strategy for both would be to get Bisharp into play as soon as possible, so I could see having a 2-2 line of this Pokemon family in a deck so you can start the game with Pawniard in the active Pokemon spot, do 20 damage for one energy card, then evolve into Bisharp the second turn and do 60 damage.  This is actually a spot where a Devolution Spray could be useful if you plan on always using Pawniard first before evolving into Bishop.  Multiple Switch trainer cards in a deck could help you quickly move Bisharp out of the active Pokemon spot one turn after doing 90 damage with Retaliate.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I like that this card has an above average HP and two solid moves.  Both moves on this card are quick on the attack and both can do above average damage.  With Pawniard from this set, which I also gave a 3 rating, I would give these two cards combined a 3 out of 5 rating.  This is a line that should be considered when building a darkness type deck.

So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Bisharp from the Steam Siege set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Yveltal, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Pawniard -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pawniard from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Pawniard is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Pawniard does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Charge Order, for one colorless energy card, this move does 10 damage times the number of your Pawniard in play.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pawniard is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Bisharp, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could work as a starter type Pokemon since it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and can do 10 damage per turn when attacking.  However, this card would work best if you used 4 of these in a deck or were planning to use both Pokemon in this family, that way, you would have a better chance at having another Pawniard or two in play and therefore Charge Order could do more than 10 damage a turn.  On its own, I could see using 1 or 2 in a darkness type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Bisharp, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Like I stated above, this card would be best with multiple Pawniard cards in the deck, but it is still a functional and usable Basic Pokemon card.  So if you're building a darkness type deck, this card is definitely worth a look.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Pawniard from the Steam Siege set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Pawniard's Stage 1 evolution Bisharp, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Spiritomb -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Spiritomb Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spiritomb from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Spiritomb is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 70, it does not have a weakness or resistance and has a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Spiritomb does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Nightmare, for one darkness energy card this move does 10 damage, and it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Spiritomb's second move requires two energy cards to use, one each of darkness and colorless, this move, Damage Play, allows you to move as many damage counters as you like from your opponent's benched Pokemon to their other Pokemon in any way you like.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spiritomb is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, usually with Basic Pokemon, you're looking to see if they can be used as a starter type Pokemon, Spiritomb checks that box since not only can it do 10 damage for only one energy card but it inflicts sleep on the defending Pokemon.  So, you can use this card as a starter type Pokemon, but more importantly, this card can be pretty dominate in a spread attack deck, get 20 or 30 damage on each of your opponent's benched Pokemon, use Damage Play on Spiritomb and you can easily knock out one of more of your opponent's Pokemon at once.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I would go as far as to say if you're building a spread attack type deck, this card would be a 5 out of 5 rating and it should most definitely be used.  But, because this card can only do 10 damage maximum without damage on the opponent's Pokemon, this card is somewhat limited, but I would still highly recommend it or at least giving it a chance when deck building.

So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Spiritomb from the Steam Siege set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Pawniard, which is from this same set. Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Weavile -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Weavile Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weavile from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Weavile is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weavile's Ability is called Tear Away and says that as often as you'd like during your turn you may move a Pokemon Tool card attached to 1 of your Pokemon back into your hand.  Besides the Ability, Weavile has one move called Slash that does 40 damage for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weavile is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sneasel into play (I reviewed Sneasel from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sneasel into Weavile.  If you read yesterday's review of Sneasel, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and even though it was limited with only one move, that move could do 10 damage a turn and had the potential to prevent all damage done to it.  So knowing this about Sneasel and looking at this Weavile card, the main reason you'd want to play this line is a deck is to take advantage of Weavile's Ability.  Therefore, you can potentially use only 1 or 2 of the same Pokemon Tool card and instead of having to retrieve it from the discard pile after using it on the same Pokemon the whole time, you can continuously move it back to your hand and put it on another Pokemon.  So again, if you plan on using Pokemon Tool cards in your deck, this line is a must use, otherwise, this Weavile card is average, doing 40 damage a turn for two energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Both Sneasel and Weavile from this set are very solid overall and get a 3 out of 5 rating from me.  I could see using a 1-1 line in a deck, mainly for Weavile's Ability, but both Pokemon have solid attacks and can easily be used in the active Pokemon spot.

Sneasel -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Sneasel Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sneasel from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Sneasel is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sneasel does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Nyan Roll, for one darkness energy card this move does 10 damage plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, all effects of attacks done to Sneasel during your next turn, including damage, are prevented.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sneasel is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Weavile, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, you could definitely try and use this card as a starter type Pokemon in a darkness type deck.  This card can attack quickly, only requiring one energy card, it does damage every turn, and it can help you set up your bench by preventing damage on Sneasel giving you extra time to get your other Pokemon set up.  Although I would more than likely use this card with Weavile, I could definitely see using 1 or 2 of these in a darkness type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Weavile, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Like I stated above, this card really doesn't have any negatives, other than just being limited in having just one move.  Other than that, this card has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one good move.

Toxicroak -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Toxicroak Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Toxicroak from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Toxicroak is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Toxicroak's Ability is called Poison Enzyme and says that all damage done to Toxicroak by a poisoned Pokemon is prevented.  Besides the Ability, Toxicroak has one move called Poison Jab, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fighting and colorless, and does 50 damage, plus it poisons the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Toxicroak is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Croagunk into play (I reviewed Croagunk from this set yesterday) and then evolve Croagunk into Toxicroak.  If you read yesterday's review of Croagunk, you'll know that I thought it was a very poor Basic Pokemon card.  I thought this mainly because the card couldn't do any damage when attacking unless the defending Pokemon was already poisoned, so it couldn't be used as a starter type Pokemon, and the move Croagunk had could only be used once per poisoned Pokemon.  So knowing how bad Croagunk is and looking at this Toxicroak card, you'll definitely want to set this line up on the bench, that way you could put Toxicroak into the active Pokemon spot and start attacking right away.  Of course, if you use a 2-2 line of Croagunk and Toxicroak in a deck, you could use one Toxicroak first, and if that card is knocked out, move an unevolved Croagunk into the active Pokemon spot for a turn, hoping the defending Pokemon is poisoned and then it could do 30 damage.  Either way, you'll want to include this card in a deck that is heavy on Pokemon that can inflict poison.  The more Pokemon that can poison defending Pokemon, the less damage that will be done to Toxicroak.  This is definitely a card you'll want to use a Trick Coin trainer card with, so it gives you a better chance at poisoning the defending Pokemon when using Poison Jab.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I really like how this card's Ability and move work so well together.  Even with just one move that does 50 damage a turn, this is a great card to use in a deck, since it can do a fair amount of damage pretty quickly.  Together with Croagunk from this set, I would give the two Pokemon a 3 out of 5 rating, it should definitely be considered when deck building.

Croagunk -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Croagunk Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Croagunk from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Croagunk is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Croagunk does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Poison Up, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to put 3 more damage counters on the defending Pokemon in between turns if the defending Pokemon is already Poisoned.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Croagunk is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Toxicroak, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I cannot recommend using this card in a deck.  It practically has no use as a starter type Pokemon since it can't do any damage when attacking.  The only strategy with this card would be to find a quick way to poison the defending Pokemon, switch that Pokemon out for free, then put Croagunk in the active Pokemon spot using Poison Up, therefore having Poison Up do 30 more damage since the defending Pokemon is already poisoned.  If you don't have a way to get the defending Pokemon poisoned during play, do not use this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Toxicroak, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This is a card you do not want to consider using in a deck if you can't poison the defending Pokemon, and even then, this card requires a fair amount of work to even have something positive with this card.  So without Toxicroak, do not use this card in a deck, it definitely is not good.

Armaldo -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Armaldo Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Armaldo from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Armaldo is a Stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 150. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Armaldo does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Rushing Water, for one colorless energy card this move does 40 damage, plus it moves an energy card from your opponent's active Pokemon to one of their benched Pokemon.  Armaldo's second move is called Guard Claw and for three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, this move does 100 damage, plus it reduces damage done to Armaldo during your opponent's next turn by 30.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Armaldo is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Anorith into play (I reviewed Anorith from this set yesterday) and then evolve Anorith into Armaldo.  If you read yesterday's review of Anorith, you'll know that I thought it was average overall, since it could attack for only one energy card and do up to 40 damage for that energy card, plus it had an Ability that would help out all Restored Pokemon you had in play.  However, because Anorith is a Restored Pokemon, Armaldo is really more like a Stage 2 card, with that being said, if you don't mind having to add in a trainer card to get Anorith into play, and you're building a fighting type deck, this card is a great one to have.  This card can attack quickly or set up on the bench and either way the moves do a good amount of damage plus more.  So, in a fighting type deck, I could easily see using a 1-1-1 line of the Dome Fossil Anorith, Anorith, and Armaldo.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  In my opinion, this card really doesn't have any downsides, it has a great HP, average retreat cost, and two good moves.  I like that both moves not only do damage, with Guard Claw doing well above average damage, but both moves do something extra, either discarding an energy card or reducing damage.  Together, since this line starts off with a Restored Pokemon, I will give this family a 3 out of 5 rating, it is definitely worth consideration when deck building.

Anorith -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Anorith Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Anorith from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Anorith is a restored, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Anorith's Ability is called Restored Barrier and says that each of your restored Pokemon have no weakness.  Besides the Ability, Anorith just has one move called X-Scizzor, this move does 20 damage for one colorless energy card, plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Anorith is a restored Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Armaldo, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, of course you'll have to use this card with the Claw Fossil Anorith trainer from the Steam Siege set, since that is the only way to get Anorith on the bench.  That card itself allows you to look at the bottom 7 cards of your deck and move a Anorith you find there to your bench.  This card is very similar to the restored Pokemon cards from the Fates Collide set in how to get them into play.  So unfortunately, if this card were easier to get into play, it would be a great starter type Pokemon, doing up to 40 damage a turn for any energy card you would want to use.  However, since you have to add in essentially 1 trainer card for every Anorith you want in play, unless you plan on getting the same Anorith back onto your bench multiple times from the discard pile, I would be cautious on using too many of these in a deck.  Even though this card can do major damage for one energy card, because this card is a restored card, I would only use a 1-1 line at most, but a Trick Coin trainer would definitely help you with X-Scissor.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Armaldo, this is an average Restored Pokemon card.  Outside of the fact you need a trainer card to get this card into play, and that this card is limited in what it can do, the one move that this card does have is very solid, plus the card has a good Ability, especially if you're using multiple restored Pokemon, has an above average HP, and can attack with any energy type.  So overall, this card is worth a look when deck building.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:

Probopass -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Probopass Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Probopass from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Probopass is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 120. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Probopass does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Bounce Back, for one fighting energy card this move does 40 damage, plus your opponent must switch their active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Probopass' second move is called Rock Tomb, for three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, this move does 80 damage, and it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during its next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Probopass is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nosepass into play (I reviewed Nosepass from this set yesterday) and then evolve Nosepass into Probopass.  If you read yesterday's review of Nosepass, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a good HP, and two moves, but neither move that the card had was very good, and its retreat cost was two colorless energy cards instead of just one.  This Probopass card profiles similarly to that card, in that it has a high HP, two moves, and a high retreat cost.  Rock Tomb is a solid move on Probopass, and you could use it for only two energy cards if you use a Double Colorless energy with it, but, unless you have a Switch trainer, you're going to have to add energy just to retreat it.  Bounce Back is a good move for spread attack type decks, but the high retreat cost on this card makes it hard to just use Probopass for that move.  Altogether, I could see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck, setting up the line on the bench and then either battling until Probopass is knocked out, or working out a way to retreat it for free.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Outside of having an extremely high retreat cost, this card is solid overall, with a high HP, and two good moves.  Together with Nosepass from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, this line combined gets a 3 out of 5 rating.

Nosepass -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Nosepass Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Nosepass from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Nosepass is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Nosepass does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Thunder Wave, for one colorless energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Nosepass's second move is called Rolling Tackle and for three energy cards, one fighting and two colorless, this move does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Nosepass is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Probopass, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, unless you're using a full set of Trick Coin trainer cards, there isn't a path for using this card in a deck without Probopass.  The main reason I say this is because you don't want to use this card solely for Thunder Wave since it is based on a coin flip and its retreat cost is higher than Thunder Wave's attack cost, and, unless you use one fighting energy card and one Double Colorless energy card, Rolling Tackle does below average damage.  So although this card does have an above average HP and two moves, I would feel much safer not using this card in a deck or allowing it to sit on your bench while you wait to evolve it into Probopass.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Probopass, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card does have an above average HP, but both of the moves this card have are below average, and this card has a somewhat high retreat cost.  Overall, although this card isn't terrible, it isn't one that I would recommend using on its own.

Primeape -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Primeape Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Primeape from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Primeape is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Primeape does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Swagger, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the defending Pokemon must discard an energy attached to it.  Primeape's second move is called Spirited Throw and for two fighting energy cards, this move does 30 damage, however, if before attacking, the defending Pokemon has more remaining HP than Primeape, Spirited Throw does 60 more damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Primeape is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Mankey into play (I reviewed Mankey from this set yesterday) and then evolve Mankey into Primeape.  If you read yesterday's review of Mankey, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card.  Overall, it had a low retreat cost, solid HP, and two good moves.  The card was limited in that it could only do 10 damage in one turn, or 25 damage over two turns, but it was good enough that I would recommend using it on its own.  So knowing this about Mankey and looking at this Primeape card, if you're building a fighting type deck, this card is definitely worth it, I could see using a 1-1 or a 2-2 line of this Pokemon family.  You could start the game with Mankey in the active Pokemon spot and evolve into Primeape soon thereafter, or you could just set this line up on the bench.  Both moves on their own would make Primeape a solid, yet quick attacker, but throw in the potential to do 90 damage a turn with Spirited Throw, and this is a very powerful card and one that not only deals out damage, but could prevent your opponent from attacking and thus allowing Spirited Throw to do 90 damage instead of 30.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Overall, this is a great card to use in a fighting type deck.  It has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two good moves, both quick on the attack, and both able to do a fair amount of damage.  The reason this card is above average is because of the chance of doing 90 damage per turn for only 2 energy cards, doing this amount of damage for that little of energy is a great way to get ahead of your opponent early, or if you're in desperation mode, do that little extra damage that you need to do to win the game.  Overall, I would give the line of Mankey and Primeape from this set a 4 out of 5 rating, it should be considered when building a fighting type deck.

Mankey -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Mankey Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mankey from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Mankey is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mankey does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Focus Energy, for one colorless energy card this move allows Mankey's Flop move to do 50 damage the next turn instead of 10.  Mankey's second move is called Flop and for one fighting energy card this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mankey is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Primeape, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card would work well as a starter type Pokemon in a fighting type deck.  If you're able to get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, it can do major damage, I would probably use Focus Energy first then Flop the next turn to do 25 damage per turn, and since most Basic, starter type Pokemon have 60 HP or less, you could knock out the defending Pokemon in 3 turns or less.  Because this card is a little slower on the attack, it won't be that great of card later in games, but like I said, this card definitely gives you some options when building a fighting type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Primeape, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  Other than being limited in just having one move that can do damage, this card has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves that work well together.  Being able to do 50 damage with Flop is excellent, and because of that, this card should be considered when deck building.

Hoopa -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Hoopa Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hoopa from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Hoopa is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 130, it has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hoopa does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Hyperspace Punch, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage to 2 of your opponent's Pokemon.  Hoopa's second move is called Portal Strike and for three psychic energy cards, this move does 130 damage, however, Hoopa can't use Portal Strike during its next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hoopa is a basic Pokemon with no evolution forms, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, if you're building a psychic type deck and looking for some power, this is a card you'll definitely want to consider, since it can do 130 damage for only three energy cards.  Also, if you're building a spread attack type deck, this is a card you'll want to consider, potentially as a starter type Pokemon, for any type of energy card, this card can do 40 total damage to your opponent's Pokemon.  Outside of the higher retreat cost on this card, this card is pretty amazing for a Basic Pokemon, and it is a card that should be highly considered when deck building.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  As I mentioned above, this is a great card for a psychic type deck, spread attack type deck, or really any deck out there where you need a solid starter Pokemon.  I could see using up to 4 of these in any of those decks.  Really the only thing holding this card back is that you can only do 130 damage every other turn, but still, with a move as massive as that, not too many complaints from me.

Chandelure -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Chandelure Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chandelure from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Chandelure is a stage 2, psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Chandelure's Ability is called Sinister Selection and says that once during your turn, you may look at the top 2 cards of your deck, choose 1, add it to your hand, and discard the other.  Besides the Ability, Chandelure has one move called Past Friends, for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, this move does 10 damage, plus 10 more damage for each Supporter card in your discard pile.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Chandelure is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play and then evolve it into Lampent before you can evolve Lampent into Chandelure, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall and together.  Both Pokemon had below average HP and both Pokemon could discard cards as a part of their moves.  These two Pokemon work well with this Chandelure card, because you could use those Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot and discard Supporter cards to increase the damage Past Friends does, so if you want to attack with this card, this is the way to go.  I would recommend using this card solely for its Ability, therefore using only a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck and using it only on the bench.  You could then utilize Chandelure's Ability and quickly add cards to your hand.  You'll want to make sure and figure out a way to move cards from your discard pile back to your deck so you don't run out of cards in your deck and lose the game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  This card, like Litwick and Lampent, does have a below average HP and can't really do that much damage, but this card's Ability makes up for the poor stats this card has.  This is a card that can be used from the Bench the entire game, and it is one to definitely consider when deck building.  Even though I am giving this card a 3 out of 5 rating, overall, this entire line still gets a 2 out of 5 rating from me.

Lampent -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Lampent Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Lampent from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set.  Lampent is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Lampent does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mirror Mirror, for one colorless energy card, each player draws or discards until they have 4 cards in their hand.  Lampent's second move is called Flickering Flames, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 20 damage and puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Lampent is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Litwick into play (I reviewed Litwick from this set yesterday) and then evolve Litwick into Lampent.  Lampent does have a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Lampent is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Litwick, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it really couldn't be used in a deck unless you had trainer cards or moves on cards that retrieved cards from the discard pile, if you did, Litwick would have been beneficial for the deck since it was able to discard two cards from your deck into your discard pile, thus allowing you to quickly get Pokemon you want into play.  But, since that card didn't have a move, it wasn't highly recommended.  So knowing this about Litwick and looking at this Lampent card, the first move this card has, Mirror Mirror, is similar to Litwick's move in that, it only works in certain situations, in this case, if you know you have lots of trainer cards to use or you know you won't have many cards in your hand, you can then draw the cards out of your deck, and have your opponent discard them, or if you want lots of cards in your discard pile, you could use Lampent's move when you have a full hand and discard several of the cards from your hand.  Besides that move, Lampent's Flickering Flames move is solid overall, I wish it would do a little more damage a turn, but putting the defending Pokemon to sleep is useful.  Overall, I can't recommend using either of the first two Pokemon in this line unless your deck will benefit from discarding Pokemon, if that is the case, use a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  I think if this card would have had a HP of 90, I would have gave this card an average rating, but because it is below average and the first move that this card has isn't that useful, this card is below average at best.  Together with Litwick from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, both cards get a 2 out of 5 rating.

Litwick -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Litwick Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Litwick from the Steam Siege set.  Litwick is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an HP of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Litwick does not have an Ability and it only has one move, this move is called Slightly Simmer and for one colorless energy card this move allows you to search your deck for up to 2 cards and discard them.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Litwick is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Lampent, and a Stage 2 evolution in Chandelure, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Litwick does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, unless you specifically have a need for a move like this, something that needs energy cards to be on the top of the discard pile, then this card is a perfect card to use, otherwise, there is really no use for this card in a deck since it can't attack.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege Pokemon card set.  The main reason that I'm giving this card a below average rating is because it can't do any damage when attacking.  But, if you know you have a Pokemon you want to use that's move requires energy cards or certain other cards to be on the top of the discard pile, this is a great card to use, and I would definitely use one for that deck.  So, overall, this card is below average, but it can be a very good card, it just depends on what you need in your deck.

Drifblim -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Drifblim Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Drifblim from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Drifblim is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Drifblim does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Eerie Wave, for two colorless energy cards, this move does 30 damage, plus it confuses the defending Pokemon.  Drifblim's second move is called Burst Curse, for two psychic energy cards, this move allows you to put 8 damage counters on your opponent's Pokemon in any way that you like, you just need to discard 2 energy cards attached to this Pokemon first.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Drifblim is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Drifloon into play (I reviewed Drifloon from this set yesterday) and then evolve Drifloon into Drifblim.  If you read yesterday's review of Drifloon, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card.  Even though it couldn't be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck, because it couldn't attack without damage on your own Pokemon first, I thought the card was still usable in a few different deck types, especially a spread attack deck.  So knowing this about Drifloon and looking at this Drifblim card, this is another card that works well in a spread attack type deck.  This card will take a while to set up since you have to discard energy every turn to do major damage, but I would load this card up with 4 energy cards, 2 Burning Energy and two psychic, that way, you could use Burst Curse every turn and you would discard the Burning Energy and of course with that energy you don't have to discard it.  Ideally, you would use Eerie Wave first, to potentially prevent the defending Pokemon from attacking and then use Burst Curse after that, knocking out your opponent's benched Pokemon that already have damage on them.  In a spread attack type deck, I would definitely recommend using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  This is a great card to use in a spread attack type deck, you can spread out 80 damage a turn for only two energy cards with this card, and if you don't have that much energy, you can also do 30 damage a turn plus confuse the defending Pokemon.  Together with Drifloon from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, I would give these two cards a 3 out of 5 rating, it is definitely a line to consider for a spread attack type deck.

Drifloon -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Drifloon Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Drifloon from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Drifloon is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Drifloon does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Transfer Pain, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to move one damage counter from one of your own Pokemon to one of your opponent's.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Drifloon is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Drifblim, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would recommend using this card if you're building a spread attack type deck, a deck where your opponent Pokemon deal damage to your benched Pokemon, or a deck that will be retreating Pokemon in and out a lot.  If any of these scenarios are true, this card deserves consideration for use, the one caveat being that with only 60 HP, this card won't last too long.  But, because this card requires only one colorless energy card to attack, it can fit in any type deck out there, it just isn't a good starter type Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Drifblim, this is an average Basic Pokemon card.  Like I said in the strategy section of this post, this card is a solid Basic Pokemon card for certain types of decks, it won't work as a starter type Pokemon, but will work later in games.  So, this card definitely deserves at least a look when deck building.

Nidoking -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Nidoking Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Nidoking from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Nidoking is a stage 2, psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Nidoking's Ability is called King's Palace and says that your Nidoqueen's attacks do 20 more damage to your opponent's active Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Nidoking just has one move called Power Lariat, this move requires three energy cards to use, two psychic and one colorless, and does 60 damage plus 30 more damage for each Evolution Pokemon on your bench.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Nidoking is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nidoran into play and then evolve it into Nidorino before you can evolve Nidorino into Nidoking, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall and together.  Both Pokemon were slow on the attack, and really were only average if the corresponding female evolution was in play with that card.  The same goes for Nidoking, this card is extremely poor unless you have multiples of this line in play or Nidoqueen.  There is no way I would recommend wasting four energy cards to retreat this card when it only requires three energy cards to attack.  So, if you're building a psychic type deck, unless you also plan on using the full line of Nidoqueen, there is no way I can recommend this line at all.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Not only does this card do no more than average damage with the one move that it has, but its Ability is practically useless, and its retreat cost is higher than its attack cost.  Altogether, I gave each card in this line a below average rating, and because of this, I can only give this line a 1 out of 5 rating total.

Nidorino -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Nidorino Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Nidorino from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set.  Nidorino is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an HP of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Nidorino does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Peck, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 20 damage.  Nidorino's second move is called Nido Press, and for three energy cards, two psychic and one colorless, this move does 40 damage, plus 40 more damage if you have Nidorina on the bench.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Nidorino is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Nidoran into play (I reviewed Nidoran from this set yesterday) and then evolve Nidoran into Nidorino.  Nidorino does have a Stage 2 evolution in Nidoking, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Nidorino is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Nidoran, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, mainly because it couldn't do any damage when attacking for one energy card, but you had to wait until you had two energy cards on it, other than that, the card was solid.  This Nidorino card is also slow on the attack, and this card is very under-powered overall, having two weak moves, unless you have Nidorina on the bench, the newest Nidorina card is from the Primal Clash set and I don't think it is worth it to use another line with this Pokemon family just to do 80 damage a turn for three energy cards, you can find cards out there that do 80 damage for three energy cards without other things required.  So, I cannot recommend using the line of Nidoran and Nidorino in a deck on their own, unless you're already using the Nidorina line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Outside of having two moves, this card isn't that great overall, with a below average HP, and two weak moves.  So look elsewhere for a psychic type Pokemon to use in your deck.  Together with Nidoran from this set, I would give both of these cards a 2 out of 5 rating.

Nidoran -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Nidoran Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Nidoran from the Steam Siege set.  Nidoran is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Nidoran does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Come Along, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to search for a Nidoran female card and put it onto your bench.  Nidoran's second move is called Peck, and for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Nidoran is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Nidorino, and a Stage 2 evolution in Nidoking, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Nidoran does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, I wouldn't use this card in a deck, unless you're using both male and female forms of Nidoran, then Come Along would actually be a use that could do something.  If not, this card has one move that requires two energy cards to use and does 20 damage a turn.  Although, this would be a fine card to put in the active Pokemon spot until you get Nidorino into play, there is really no reason at all to use this card on its own.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege Pokemon card set.  This card does have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, but because this card can't do anything significant for one energy card, I am giving this card a below average rating, there are definitely better Basic Pokemon cards out there to use.

Galvantula -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Galvantula Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Galvantula from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Galvantula is a stage 1, lightning and grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Galvantula does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Double Thread, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to do 30 damage to 2 of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Galvantula's second move is called Electroweb and for one lightning type energy card does 30 damage, and it makes the defending Pokemon unable to retreat during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Galvantula is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Joltik into play (I reviewed Joltik from this set yesterday) and then evolve Joltik into Galvantula.  If you read yesterday's review of Joltik, you'll know that I thought it was not usable in the active Pokemon spot, mainly because of its extreme low HP, other than that, it had a free retreat cost and one move that required only one energy card to use.  So knowing you can't use Joltik in the active Pokemon spot at all, Galvantula works well with that card, since if you have to start the game with Joltik, you can evolve it the second turn of the game and start attacking without adding energy to Galvantula.  I like Galvantula quite a bit and it would work well in a spread attack type deck since Double Thread does 60 total damage for only 1 energy card towards your opponent's benched Pokemon.  So if you're building a spread attack type deck, or just looking for a solid Stage 1 card to use, with quick attacks, I would recommend using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  In my mind, there really aren't any negatives with this card, only positives.  Outside of having just an average HP, this card has a low retreat cost, and two great moves, both quick on the attack and both doing above average damage.  So, together with Joltik from this set, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, it should definitely be considered for decks.

Joltik -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Joltik Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Joltik from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Joltik is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Joltik does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Attach which does 10 damage for one lightning energy card.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Joltik is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Galvantula, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, there really is no way you can play this card in a deck, mainly because of its extremely low HP, this card may last one turn early in the game, but later in the game, it is pretty much a guaranteed one hit knockout.  It is disappointing this card has such a low HP since it has a free retreat cost and a solid move, but because of that HP, there is really never a time that this card should be in the active Pokemon spot, unless you can make its HP 50 or more.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Galvantula, this is a very poor Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  All because of this card's low HP, this card is unusable, it is as weak as Magikarp, so unless you need this card to get to Galvantula, do not use this card in a deck.

Ampharos -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Ampharos Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Ampharos from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Ampharos is a stage 2, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Ampharos' Ability is called Shocking Light and says that once per turn, you may put 3 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's EX Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Ampharos just has one move called Gigavolt, this move requires three energy cards to use, two lightning and one colorless, and does 80 damage plus 40 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin, or if you get a tails when flipping a coin, the move does 80 damage and paralyzes the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Ampharos is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Mareep into play and then evolve it into Flaaffy before you can evolve Flaaffy into Ampharos, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both average cards alone, and below average cards together.  Both cards were solid, but definitely not spectacular, I didn't recommend using either card without Ampharos, but used with Ampharos, both cards work well for a turn in the active Pokemon spot, since both cards have average HP, and solid moves.  I could definitely see using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family in not only a lightning type deck, but almost any type deck out there, to combat EX Pokemon cards.  You could keep this line on the bench the whole time and just use Ampharos' Ability to take down EX cards, or, you could do up to 120 damage a turn with Gigavolt, which is an above average move.  So when deck building, this is definitely a card and a Pokemon line to consider.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good Stage 2 lightning type Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  To me, this card works well in many different decks out there, it has a great Ability, especially in today's metagame, as well as a very powerful move, that either prevents your opponent from attacking or does well above average damage.  Altogether, this line is very good, it gets a 4 out of 5 rating from me, and definitely is a line that deserves to be in decks.
