Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Toxicroak from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set. Toxicroak is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Toxicroak's Ability is called Poison Enzyme and says that all damage done to Toxicroak by a poisoned Pokemon is prevented. Besides the Ability, Toxicroak has one move called Poison Jab, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fighting and colorless, and does 50 damage, plus it poisons the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Toxicroak is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Croagunk into play (I reviewed Croagunk from this set yesterday) and then evolve Croagunk into Toxicroak. If you read yesterday's review of Croagunk, you'll know that I thought it was a very poor Basic Pokemon card. I thought this mainly because the card couldn't do any damage when attacking unless the defending Pokemon was already poisoned, so it couldn't be used as a starter type Pokemon, and the move Croagunk had could only be used once per poisoned Pokemon. So knowing how bad Croagunk is and looking at this Toxicroak card, you'll definitely want to set this line up on the bench, that way you could put Toxicroak into the active Pokemon spot and start attacking right away. Of course, if you use a 2-2 line of Croagunk and Toxicroak in a deck, you could use one Toxicroak first, and if that card is knocked out, move an unevolved Croagunk into the active Pokemon spot for a turn, hoping the defending Pokemon is poisoned and then it could do 30 damage. Either way, you'll want to include this card in a deck that is heavy on Pokemon that can inflict poison. The more Pokemon that can poison defending Pokemon, the less damage that will be done to Toxicroak. This is definitely a card you'll want to use a Trick Coin trainer card with, so it gives you a better chance at poisoning the defending Pokemon when using Poison Jab.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set. I really like how this card's Ability and move work so well together. Even with just one move that does 50 damage a turn, this is a great card to use in a deck, since it can do a fair amount of damage pretty quickly. Together with Croagunk from this set, I would give the two Pokemon a 3 out of 5 rating, it should definitely be considered when deck building.

Toxicroak is in 1 Set as an Ultra Rare. It appears in that set twice, however, as a RA and FA.
