Weavile -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weavile from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Weavile is a Stage 1, Darkness type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Psychic type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Rule of Evil, for one Colorless Energy card, this attack does 60 damage to each Pokemon in play that has an Ability.  The second move on this card is called Slash, for two Energy cards, one each of Darkness and Colorless, this move does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weavile is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sneasel into play (I reviewed Sneasel from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sneasel into Weavile.  If you read yesterday's review of Sneasel, you'll know that it was a slightly below Basic Pokemon card overall.  It did have a solid HP and could do up to 80 damage for two Energy cards, but the problem with the card was that in order to do 80 damage per turn, you needed to first power up the move, meaning, you could end up wasting a turn without doing damage to the defending Pokemon, if Sneasel is knocked out, or switched out of the Active Pokemon spot before your next turn.  Knowing this about Sneasel and looking at this Weavile card, you could easily build a deck including a 4-4 or 4-3 line of this Pokemon family, trying to do 80 damage during your 2nd turn with Sneasel, and then potentially massive damage with Weavile's Rule of Evil move.  You could also set up Weavile on the Bench, put just one Energy card on it, then switch it to the Active Pokemon spot when your opponent has a full Bench and lots of Pokemon with Abilities in play.  This card can do major damage to decks relying on Stage 2 Pokemon like Gardevoir GX, Vikavolt, or Metagross GX, where you have multiple of these Pokemon on your Bench to utilize their Abilities.  Of course, Rule of Evil can damage your own Pokemon too, so you're going to need to limit the Pokemon in your deck to exclude those with Abilities.  Plus, if for some reason Rule of Evil isn't effective, Slash does a good amount of damage for only two Energy cards, plus, Weavile has a free retreat cost, which is always helpful.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a pretty amazing Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  I see this card being used quite often in the competitive game, and against decks that I've built, ones depending on lots of EX and GX Pokemon, and usually Pokemon that have Abilities, Weavile does major damage!  Combine this card with Sneasel from this set, and I would give both cards a 4 out of 5 rating.

Weavile -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weavile from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Weavile is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weavile's Ability is called Tear Away and says that as often as you'd like during your turn you may move a Pokemon Tool card attached to 1 of your Pokemon back into your hand.  Besides the Ability, Weavile has one move called Slash that does 40 damage for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weavile is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sneasel into play (I reviewed Sneasel from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sneasel into Weavile.  If you read yesterday's review of Sneasel, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall.  It had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and even though it was limited with only one move, that move could do 10 damage a turn and had the potential to prevent all damage done to it.  So knowing this about Sneasel and looking at this Weavile card, the main reason you'd want to play this line is a deck is to take advantage of Weavile's Ability.  Therefore, you can potentially use only 1 or 2 of the same Pokemon Tool card and instead of having to retrieve it from the discard pile after using it on the same Pokemon the whole time, you can continuously move it back to your hand and put it on another Pokemon.  So again, if you plan on using Pokemon Tool cards in your deck, this line is a must use, otherwise, this Weavile card is average, doing 40 damage a turn for two energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Both Sneasel and Weavile from this set are very solid overall and get a 3 out of 5 rating from me.  I could see using a 1-1 line in a deck, mainly for Weavile's Ability, but both Pokemon have solid attacks and can easily be used in the active Pokemon spot.

Weavile -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weavile from the Flashfire Pokemon Card Set.  Weavile is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weavile does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Call for Family, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to search your deck for up to 2 Basic Pokemon cards are put them onto your bench. Weavile's second move is called Claw Rend, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, and does 60 damage plus 30 more damage if the defending Pokemon has any damage counters on it already.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weavile is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sneasel into play and then evolve Sneasel into Weavile.  There are actually two Sneasel cards in this set and I've reviewed them the past two days, I prefer the second Sneasel card in this set, #51/016 better than the first one because it has two good moves, whereas the first one really don't have any good moves.  So if you were to use this Pokemon line in a deck, I would use a 1-1 line of Sneasel and Weavile, I would only use this line as part of a spread damage type deck, I would then use a Pokemon that does 10 damage to every Pokemon of your opponent's first, then later in the game, I would move my Weavile card, which has been set up on my bench with three energy cards, into the active Pokemon spot and then I would be able to use Claw Rend every turn and do 90 damage to every Pokemon because every one of my opponent's Pokemon already has damage on it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  This card is very average overall, since it has an average hp, low retreat cost, and two average moves.  However, I would recommend using this card in a deck if you're building a spread damage type deck because then Claw Rend is an above average move.  Altogether, if you're using the second Sneasel card from this set and Weavile, I would give them a 3 out of 5 rating combined, individually I also gave both of these cards 3 out of 5 ratings.

Weavile -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Weavile from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Weavile is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Weavile does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Hail, this move requires one colorless energy card and does 10 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon.  Weavile's second move is called Vilify, this move requires two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, and does 30 damage times the number of Pokemon you discard from your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Weavile is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sneasel into play (I reviewed Sneasel from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sneasel into Weavile.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Sneasel was a pretty solid basic Pokemon card that could be used on its own.  Because of this, if you decide to use Weavile with Sneasel, you can still move Sneasel into the active Pokemon spot whenever you like, I would actually prefer getting Sneasel into the active Pokemon spot to begin the game and then evolving it into Weavile right away and using Hail every turn to spread damage around on your opponent's Pokemon.  That way, later on in the game it will be that much easier to knock out your opponent's Pokemon.  I would definitely include this line in a spread damage type deck, luckily, Weavile's Hail move can use any type of energy card so it will fit in great in whatever type of deck you're building.  I like both cards from this line, so I would use a 2-2 line of Sneasel and Weavile.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  I like that Weavile has two quick moves, that both require little energy cards.  I like Hail a lot more than I like Vilify, but towards the end of the game if you need to finish off your opponent, Vilify might just do the trick.  Just make sure if you plan on using Vilify that you use a trainer that lets you get Pokemon from your discard pile.  So in a spread damage type deck, this card is an absolute must.  Overall, I would give the line of Sneasel and Weavile a 4 out of 5 rating, individually I gave these two cards both 3s, but together they are above average.
