Walrein -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Walrein Primal Clash Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Walrein from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Walrein is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Walrein does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Knock Over, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of water and colorless, and does 50 damage, plus you can discard all Stadium cards in play.  Walrein's second move is called Frozen Splash, this move requires four energy cards to use, two each of water and colorless, and does 70 damage plus 70 more damage if you are facing a fighting type Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Walrein is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Spheal into play and then evolve it into Sealeo before you can evolve Sealeo into Walrein, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed all three cards, since there are two Spheal cards, the past few days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that neither I thought the first Spheal card from this set was very poor, but the other Spheal and then Sealeo were both average Pokemon cards and could be used in a deck on their own, since they both could do a fair amount of damage.  So knowing this about the first two forms in this Pokemon family and looking at this Walrein card, this Walrein card is pretty similar to both Spheal and Sealeo from this set, a card that can do a good amount of damage, but has an extremely high retreat cost, and can't do much else other than attack.  So overall, since you would have to use 2 other Pokemon cards to use Walrein in a deck, I probably wouldn't want to use this line in a deck, but it definitely wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a water type deck with this Pokemon line.  I would only use a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family and probably try and get four energy cards on Walrein eventually in the bench, then really hope the defending Pokemon is a fighting type Pokemon, move Walrein to the active Pokemon spot and use Frozen Splash every turn.  If you don't have four energy cards on Walrein, of course you'll want to use Knock Over, which is a pretty decent move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card definitely has some positives like its high HP, and two moves that both can do major damage, however, this card is underwhelming if you aren't facing a fighting type Pokemon and its retreat cost is really high.  So overall, even though I have given all three Pokemon in this line, if you only look at the second Spheal card, 3 out of 5 ratings, altogether I can only give this line a 2 out of 5 rating, all cards are average and combined they just don't do much for me.

Walrein -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Walrein Flashfire Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Walrein from the Flashfire Pokemon Card Set.  Walrein is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Walrein does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Powder Snow, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one water, and does 60 damage, plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Walrein's second move is called Big Tusk, this move requires four energy cards, two each of water and colorless, and does 120 damage minus 10 damage for each damage counter on Walrein.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Walrein is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Spheal into play and then evolve it into Sealeo before you can evolve Sealeo into Walrein, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Both of those Pokemon cards are average at best so they could be used without their final evolution.  But if I were to use this Pokemon family at all in a deck, I would use all three of the Pokemon and try and use Walrein the most in my deck, I would use a 1-1-1 line of Spheal, Sealeo, and Walrein, try setting it up on the bench, then putting Walrein into the active Pokemon spot and using Big Tusk first since it would do 120 damage right away and keep using that move until it did about 80 damage, then I would start using Powder Snow.  If you do use this line in your deck, make sure to have a way to retreat Walrein for free, because it has an extremely high retreat cost.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  This card has a good hp, and two solid moves, but the retreat cost is way too high on this card for me to want to use it a ton in a deck, plus Big Tusk may end up not doing any damage after awhile.  So overall, this entire Pokemon family gets a 3 out of 5 rating from me, it is an average line to use in a deck, so if you're building a water type deck, all of the cards in this line are average and should be considered.

Walrein -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Walrein Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Walrein from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Walrein is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  Walrein is the stage 2 evolution of Sealeo, and before that Spheal, both of those Pokemon I have reviewed the past couple of days, and both of those Pokemon are in this set.  Walrein has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Walrein does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Aurora Beam which requires three energy cards, two colorless and one water, and does 80 damage.  Walrein's second move is called Ice Entomb and for four energy cards, two each of water and colorless, this moves does 60 damage plus paralyzes the defending Pokemon, however you can only use this move once every other turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Walrein is a stage 2 Pokemon, I would recommend evolving Spheal into Sealeo and Sealeo into Walrein on the bench, once you get three energy cards attached to Walrein I would move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Aurora Beam every turn, unless the defending Pokemon had more than 160 hp or Walrein would be knocked out during the next turn, then I would use Ice Entomb instead of Aurora Beam.  Since Walrein is quite slow, you'll have to set it up the bench like I mentioned, because of this slowness I wouldn't use that many Pokemon from this line in a deck, I would only use a 3-2-1 line of Spheal, Sealeo, and Walrein in a water type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  To me, this is a pretty average Pokemon card, it has some positives and negatives which balance out to make this card very average.  Walrein has a decent hp but terribly high retreat cost, Aurora Beam is a good move, however Ice Entomb requires too many energy cards to do less damage than a move that does more damage for less energy cards.  So overall this is an average card that could work in a water type deck.
