Spheal 46/160 -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spheal from the Primal Clash set.  This is the second of two consecutive reviews I've done on Spheal.  This Spheal is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Spheal card does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Ice Ball, for two water energy cards, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spheal is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sealeo and a stage 2 evolution in Walrein, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions but I will compare the two Spheal cards at the end of this section.  So on its own, this card could be a good starter type Pokemon in a water type deck, it is a little on the slower side, but I would try and start the game with this card in the active Pokemon spot, and then do 20 damage a turn with Ice Ball.  Since this card has a little higher HP than normal, being a little slower on the attack shouldn't affect it too much.  Of the two Spheal cards from this set, I definitely prefer this card over yesterday's and it isn't even close.  This Spheal card can do damage every turn with Ice Ball, whereas yesterday's Spheal card can potentially do more damage, but it could end up doing zero damage every single turn.  So if you have to use a Spheal card in your deck, use this one over yesterday's.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card is limited in what it can do since it only has one attack, but the attack it does have does average damage, plus its HP is higher than average.  So if you're building a water type deck, this card is worth a look if you need to use a Basic Pokemon card in that deck.

Spheal 45/160 -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spheal from the Primal Clash set.  This is the first of two consecutive reviews I'll be doing of Spheal.  Spheal is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Spheal does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Ball Roll, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of water and colorless, and does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spheal is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sealeo and a stage 2 evolution in Walrein, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, and I haven't even reviewed the second Spheal card from this set, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions or knowing which Spheal card is better.  So on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being that this card may end up doing no damage at all every single turn since the only move it has is a coin-flip based move.  So unless you are feeling especially lucky or you have to use this card with Walrein and Sealeo, do not use this card in a deck, otherwise you'll be in trouble putting two energy cards on Spheal and not being able to do any damage.  This card is pretty much a sitting duck in the active Pokemon spot.  Of course if you do use this card, the only thing you can do each turn is to use Ball Roll, and to increase your chances of getting a heads the first flip, you could always attach a Trick Coin trainer card to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor Basic Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  Even though this card has a good HP, and can possibly do major damage every single turn, I am giving this card my lowest rating because it does not have a move that will guarantee to do any damage, and to use a starter Pokemon like this one, and not be able to do any damage at all, will really affect your game very early on.  So if you're building a water type deck and are looking for a Basic Pokemon to use, look elsewhere from this Spheal card.

Spheal -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spheal from the Flashfire set.  Spheal is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Spheal does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Ice Ball, this move requires two water type energy cards and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spheal is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Sealeo and a stage 2 evolution in Walrein, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, this card could definitely be used in a water type deck as a starter type Pokemon or a card to get on your bench so you don't lose the game.  I wouldn't use more than 1 one of these in a deck on its own, because the retreat cost and only move Spheal has require two energy cards, so the card is slower to use, but with 70 hp, early on in the game it would be able to endure a couple of attacks while getting energy cards attached to it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  I like the high hp this card has and the Ice Ball move that does 20 damage, but this card is quite limited because it only has one move, no Ability or anything, and once you retreat Spheal, you won't have any energy cards attached to it anymore if you just had the two on it for Ice Ball.  So overall, if you're building a heavy water type deck, this card should definitely be considered for it.

Spheal -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spheal from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Spheal is a basic, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Spheal does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Unstoppable Roll which requires two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, and does 10 damage plus 30 more damage if when you flip two coins you get two heads.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spheal has a stage 1 evolution in Sealeo, and a stage 2 evolution in Walrein, there is absolutely no reason to put this card into the active Pokemon spot if it hasn't evolved into at least its stage 1 evolution.  My main reason for saying this is that Spheal can't do as much damage or endure as much damage as one of its evolutions can.  However, if you're forced to put this card into the active Pokemon spot you have no choice but to use Unstoppable Roll since this is the only move this card has, once again, I would try and evolve Spheal as soon as possible.  I would keep this card on the bench and attach 2 or 3 energy cards on it so when you evolve it you can use Sealeo's or Walrein's moves right away instead of having to wait.  As of now, I wouldn't use this card on its own.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a bit below average for a basic Pokemon card, it does have average hp, but it only has one move, which costs a fair amount to use and may not do much damage at all, plus Spheal's retreat cost is high for a basic Pokemon that has two evolutions.
