Magikarp -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Magikarp Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magikarp from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Magikarp is a Basic, Water type Pokemon card with a HP of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to Lightning type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Magikarp does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move on this card is called Splashing Dodge, for one Water Energy card, this move does 10 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, this move also prevents all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Magikarp during your opponent's next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magikarp is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Gyarados, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, just knowing this is a Magikarp card is enough to know that this card should never be used in the Active Pokemon spot.  The reason for this is Magikarp almost always has a very low HP, usually 30, meaning, it is easily knocked out in one move.  As far as Magikarp cards go, this is one of the better ones that I've seen, since it does damage, plus it gives you a chance to prevent damage and have Magikarp last a turn without being knocked out.  So if you want to use some form of Gyarados in a deck, this is a Magikarp card you should definitely use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gyarados this is a below average Basic Pokemon from the Burning Shadows set.  But, like I mentioned above, because this is one of the best Magikarp cards out there, I am giving this card a 3 out of 5 rating, it is really an exclusive rating to just Magikarp cards.  If this card had a normal HP, like 60, it actually would be a decent starter type Pokemon for a deck.

Magikarp -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Magikarp Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magikarp from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Magikarp is a basic, water type Pokemon card with a HP of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Magikarp does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Flail that for one water energy card does 10 damage times the number of damage counters on Magikarp.

So, on its own, even though I joke in a lot of my videos about how powerful and great Magikarp is, Magikarp is consistently the worse Pokemon in the TCG, and it has been that way since the beginning of Pokemon cards with Base Set, Magikarp is also super weak, having a really low HP, and always has just one move that is always really hard to do any damage with, usually something like flip 3 coins, if any is tails, the move does nothing.  So knowing all of that, this Magikarp isn't as bad since it can actually do damage when it has 10 or 20 damage on itself.  With that being said, if you want to pretty much guarantee a one hit KO late in a game definitely load up your deck with Magikarp, otherwise, never, I repeat, never, use Magikarp on its own, and never put Magikarp into the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gyarados, this is a well below average Basic Pokemon card, compared to most Magikarp cards out there, this is one of the better ones, but it still isn't a usable card in the TCG, and it isn't one you want to use without Gyarados, so please stay away (I personally don't have anything against Magikarp, its cards are always just weak, but I am a big fan of Gyarados).

Magikarp -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Magikarp Ancient Origins Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magikarp from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Set.  Magikarp is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Magikarp does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Epic Splash, for one water energy card, this move does 30 damage if you get two heads when you flip two coins, if not the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magikarp is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Gyarados, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed either of those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, just like almost all Magikarp cards out there, this card is pretty much unusable and is only used to evolve into Gyarados.  Even attaching a Trick Coin trainer card to Magikarp still makes it highly unlikely that this card can do any damage ever.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Magikarp, this card is a very poor Basic Pokemon card, not only does it have a really low HP, but it is pretty much guaranteed never to do any damage since it is based on two coin flips.  So again, if you aren't using Gyarados in your deck, stay away from this card at all costs.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Magikarp from the Ancient Origins set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Magikarp's stage 1 evolution Gyarados, which will be the first of two consecutive reviews of this Pokemon, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Magikarp -- Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Review

Magikarp Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magikarp from the Legendary Treasures Pokemon Card Set.  Magikarp is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 30.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Magikarp does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Flailing Flop, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage, however if you flip a coin and get a tails the move does nothing.

So this card keeps the pattern of if you're not going to use Magikarp with Gyarados, don't use Magikarp at all.  This card is pretty worthless on its own, not only does it have a low hp, but the only move it has may end up doing 0 damage for you per turn.  So I would recommend not using this card in a deck, if for some strange reason you want to use this card in a deck, it can be used in any deck, and you would of course use Flailing Flop every turn, but just like the move suggests, if you want to use this card in your deck, your deck will probably fail you.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an extremely poor basic Pokemon card from the Legendary Treasures Pokemon card set.  I would not use this card in any deck out there, other than having an average retreat cost, nothing about this card is good at all.
