Inkay -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Inkay is a Basic, Darkness type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Psychic type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Constrict, for one Darkness Energy card, this move says to flip a coin, if you get a heads, the defending Pokemon is Paralyzed.  The second move on this card is called Tackle, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Malamar, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, there isn't much use for this card in a deck.  If you're looking to Paralyze the defending Pokemon, just use Raichu from the Burning Shadows set, when you play it from your hand to evolve Pikachu, you can utilize its Ability to Paralyze the defending Pokemon, then just use Devolution Spray and use its Ability all over again.  While Tackle can be used quickly with only one Double Colorless Energy card, if you have a full Bench, something like Zoroark GX from the Shining Legends set, although a Stage 1 Pokemon, it is a Darkness type Pokemon that can do up to 120 damage per turn for the same amount of Energy.  So unless you're specifically using this card to get to Malamar, I would pass on this card overall.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Malamar, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, there is really no reason to use this card in a deck, with that being said, the card does have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, and would make a decent Basic Pokemon to use to get to Malamar.

Inkay -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Inkay is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Inkay does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Disorderly Flip and for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 4 coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Malamar, which was most recently in the Ancient Origins set, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since there isn't a Malamar card in this set, I will only be looking at this Inkay card on its own.  So, on its own, the only way I would even consider using this card in a deck would be if I was using Trick Coin trainer cards, that way, you could attach that trainer to Inkay and hopefully do at least 20 damage a turn with Disorderly Flip.  Outside of using that trainer, I wouldn't use this card in a deck because Inkay has too low of HP, and could end up doing no damage at all every single turn since its only move is based on a coin flip.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Malamar, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I do like that this card has the potential to do up to 40 damage per turn, but the possibility of ever doing this is pretty low, add in that this card is slow on the attack and has a low HP, and I cannot recommend using this card in a deck.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Set.  Inkay is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Inkay does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Ink Spit, for one darkness energy card this move does 10 damage, plus if you opponent tries to attack Inkay during their next turn, they must flip a coin, if they get a tails, the attack does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Malamar, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card really isn't worth using in a deck because it has a below average HP and can only do 10 damage maximum.  I do like that after using Ink Spit the opponent is forced to flip a coin before attacking, but this move would be better suited for a more powerful Pokemon, one that can be used later in the game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Malamar, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I would definitely not recommend using this card in a deck, with its low HP, but I do like the one move that this card has, doing damage and possibly preventing your opponent from attacking.  This card wouldn't be the worst card in the world to have in the active Pokemon spot for a turn before evolving it into Malamar.

Inkay -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Inkay is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Inkay does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Rip Off, for one darkness energy card this move allows you to randomly choose a card from your opponent's hand, have them show you the card then shuffle it into their deck.  Inkay's second move is called Psybeam, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of darkness and colorless, and does 20 damage, plus it confuses the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Malamar, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since there is not a Malamar card in this set, and the most recent Barbaracle card in a set is in the Phantom Forces set which I have reviewed both Malamar cards from the set, I will act like I plan on using this Inkay card on its own.  So, on its own, this card could be used in a darkness type deck as a starter type Pokemon since it has two moves.  If you started the game with Inkay in the active Pokemon spot you could use Rip Off and get an idea of what your opponent has planned for their strategy then after use Psybeam every turn hoping to flip some heads.  One negative about this card is its low HP, which would make me personally not want to use this card in a deck, so if you want to use one, do not use more than 1 without using Malamar.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Malamar, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  This card is good in that it has two moves, both decent, and a low retreat cost.  For me, this card just isn't one that I would really want to use in a deck, the first move this card has doesn't do much, at least it doesn't do any damage, and the second move is good, just takes an extra turn to use it.  So if you're building a darkness type deck, there are definitely better cards out there to use.

Inkay #75/146 -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Inkay cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Inkay is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This Inkay card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tackle, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.  Inkay's second move is called Puncture, this move requires two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Malamar, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution, but I can discuss which Inkay card from this set is better.  So, on its own this card can definitely be used as a starter type Pokemon in a deck.  Try and get this card out into the active Pokemon spot early in the game and use whichever move you have the necessary amount of energy cards for.  Because this card only requires two energy cards maximum to attack, you will easily have time to set up your benched Pokemon while this card is attacking.  Because this card does have a low hp, only 50, I would not put more than two of these in a deck on their own.  Of course, if you are debating on which Inkay card to use in your set from the X and Y set and are not using Malamar, you really have no option but to use this one in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  Other than having a low hp, this card is pretty much average overall and would work well in a darkness type deck.  Both of the moves this card has are average and standard to good starter type Pokemon.  So if you're building a darkness type deck, this card definitely won't do your deck any harm.

Inkay #74/146 -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Inkay from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Inkay cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Inkay is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Inkay's Ability is called Upside-Down Evolution and says that if Inkay is confused you may search your deck for a Malamar card and evolve Inkay into Malamar.  Besides the Ability, this Inkay card just has one move called Confusion Wave, this move requires one darkness energy card and confuses both Inkay and the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Inkay is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Malamar, which I'll be reviewing in two days since there are two Inkay in this set, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet and I haven't even reviewed the second Inkay card from this set, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution or knowing which Inkay card is better.  So, on its own I would definitely not use this card because it really can't do anything at all without Malamar.  Sure, you can confuse the defending Pokemon and yourself, but you can't use Upside-Down Evolution without a Malamar in the deck.  So it is a mute point trying to use this Inkay card without Malamar in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 0 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this card cannot be rated based on using it by itself because you really can't use it successfully and if you do choose to use the card it is pretty much worthless.  So please wait until I review the two Malamar cards from this set to know if this card should be used or not.
