Golett -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Golett Ancient Origins Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Golett from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Set.  Golett is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Golett does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Smash Punch, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage, however if you get a tails when flipping a coin to use this move, the move does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Golett is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Golurk, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would highly recommend against using this card in a deck.  Even though it requires colorless energy cards to attack and has a high HP, there is jut no way you want to use this card in a deck without Golurk, it has a higher retreat cost than attack cost, and the one move that this card has, has a 50/50 shot of actually doing damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Golurk, this is a pretty miserable Basic Pokemon card.  Stay away from a high retreat cost, low accuracy attacker that can't attack right away.  Hopefully Golurk is a bit better than this card.

Golett -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Golett Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Golett from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Golett is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Golett does not have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move that this card has is called Pound and for two energy cards, one each of psychic and colorless, this move does 20 damage.  Golett's second move is called Rock Smash, this move requires three energy cards to use, two colorless and one psychic, and does 30 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin it does 30 more damage for a total of 60 damage.

So, on its own I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck.  I say this because both of the moves Golett has are extremely slow to use and neither do above average damage.  Plus, if you do use this card in a deck and have to put it into the active Pokemon spot before it is ready to attack, you'll need a whopping 3 energy cards to retreat it.  If for some reason you do decide to use this card in a deck, I would recommend getting it set up on the bench first before putting it into the active Pokemon spot, then use Rock Smash every turn, hoping for a heads so that move can do average damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, this is below average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Even though this card does have a high HP, and two moves, I am giving this card a below average rating because neither move it has does even average damage, and the retreat cost on this card is extremely high.  So if you're building a psychic type deck, there are surely better Pokemon cards out there for you to use.

Golett -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Golett Plasma Blast Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Golett from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Golett is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to darkness type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Golett does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Beat, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.  Golett's second move is called Mega Punch, this move requires three energy cards, two psychic and one colorless, and does 50 damage per turn.

So on its own, this card could be used as a starter type Pokemon in your deck because it has a high hp and can attack quickly, however if I decided to use this card in a deck, I would only use 2 of them unless I'm using it with Golurk.  I say this because the retreat cost on Golett is too high in my opinion and if you spend the time to get three energy cards on it, the move does below average damage.  So strategy wise, I would try to get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use Beat a couple of times and then use a trainer card that will allow you to switch out Golett for free.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  I like that this card has a high hp and two moves however I don't like the fact that this card's retreat cost is way too high and the move that requires the most energy cards does below average damage.  If the retreat cost was lower on this card I would definitely use this card in a deck.
