Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnemite from the BREAKthrough set. This is the second of the two Magnemite cards from this set I've reviewed. Magnemite is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an HP of 60. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This Magnemite card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Shock Generator, for one lightning type energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin. Magnemite's second move is called Lightning Ball and for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnemite is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Magneton, and a Stage 2 evolution in Magnezone, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Magnemite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own, however I will be comparing both Magnemite cards from this set. On its own, this card would be an okay starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck since it has an average HP, and two moves. You could move this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game and prevent your opponent from attacking with Shock Generator and then the second turn use Lightning Ball. Looking at both Magnemite cards from this set, both are pretty similar, since both have the Lightning Ball move and one other thing they can do, an Ability on yesterday's card and a move on this card. If you plan on using Magnemite on its own, this is the card you want to use since it can attack for one energy card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is a slightly below average to average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set. Of the two Magnemite cards from this set, I would give the nod to this card, even though neither card is that great. So if you're building a lightning type deck, this card is worthy of a look.

Magnemite evolves into Magneton at Level 30.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, for everyone else commenting: I was reading PrimetimePokemon's blog post for Raichu (49/162), and I was the first commenter.
I just wanted to point something out - Raichu has been an Ultra Rare six times (Neo Destiny, EX Sandstorm, EX Emerald, Stormfront, Undaunted, and BREAkthrough).
I wanted to give you the opportunity to delete your answer and replace it with the correct one. After all, PrimetimePokemon hasn't announced the winner yet. Have a good day!
