Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnemite from the BREAKthrough set. This is the first of two consecutive Magnemite cards I'll be reviewing from this set. Magnemite is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an HP of 60. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. This Magnemite has an Ability called Sparkling Induction and says that as long as this Magnemite is your active Pokemon, it has one colorless energy card retreat cost for each Magnemite on your bench. Besides the Ability, Magnemite just has one move called Lightning Ball that does 20 damage for two colorless energy cards.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnemite is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Magneton, and a Stage 2 evolution in Magnezone, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet and I haven't reviewed the second Magnemite card yet, I will just act like Magnemite does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own. On its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being it requires two energy cards to attack as opposed to one. This card sets up better to be used with its evolution forms because you can than more than likely utilize its Ability and retreat Magnemite for free. If you plan on using this card on its own, you can fit it into any type deck since it only requires colorless energy cards to use, and you have to use Lightning Ball every turn.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set. Like I said above, if this card could attack for one energy card, I would have gave it an average rating, but because this card is slow on the attack it is below average. So if you're building a lightning type deck, this card should be considered but there really is no reason to want to use it in your deck without Magneton.

Yes. There are other Lightning-Type Pokemon in the BREAKthrough expansion with two cards (Raichu). After all, the question stipulated Pokemon, not cards.
