Swirlix -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Swirlix Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swirlix from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Swirlix is a basic, fairy type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to metal type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to darkness type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Swirlix does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Lick Away, for one fairy type energy card this move removes all special conditions from Swirlix.  Swirlix's second move is called Tackle, for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swirlix is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Slurpuff, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own you could definitely use one of these in a fairy type deck, or really any type deck since its main move requires colorless energy, but I would be careful in how many you choose to use or if you use this card at all.  This card does have an average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves.  I would use this card mainly for Tackle, it is an average move, a little slow to use but should be effective early in the game.  Lick Away doesn't do much for me, because if you use this card at the start of the game, it is more than likely not going to have any special conditions inflicted upon it.  So if you use this card, try and get it into the active Pokemon spot to start the game then use Tackle every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Swirlix, this card is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  I really wanted to give this card a 3 out of 5 rating because it has average everything, but I am not a big fan of Lick Away and I wish the card could have done 10 damage plus remove all special conditions with that move.  So if you are building a deck and need one more card in it, this card is definitely worth a look.

  2. The answer is 6, if you count Florges EX and full art Florges EX as different cards. If not there are 5.

There are 5 Pokémon: Florges EX, Swirlix, Slurpuff, Dedenne and Diancie; but 6 different cards as Florges EX have a Full art version. So 6.
