Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swadloon from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set. Swadloon is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Swadloon does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves. The first move it has is called Swaddle Guard, this move requires one colorless energy card and says that during your opponent's next turn, any damage they do to Swadloon is reduced by 40. Swadloon's second move is called Surprise Attack, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 40 damage. However, when you use this move you must flip a coin, if you get a tails this move does nothing.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swadloon is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Sewaddle into play (I reviewed Sewaddle from this set yesterday) and then evolve Sewaddle into Swadloon. Swadloon does have a stage 2 evolution in Leavanny that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Swadloon is the final evolution in this line. So if you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Sewaddle was a below average basic Pokemon card that I more than likely would not use in a deck. Considering how that card was and looking at this Swadloon card I would not recommend using this Pokemon line (so far) in a deck because neither card is very good and Swadloon is definitely worse as a stage 1 Pokemon than Sewaddle is as a basic Pokemon. If you do choose to use this line in a deck, I would make sure that deck is a grass type deck and I would only use a 1-1 line. I would try and include Cherrim in this deck to utilize its Ability which will make Swadloon's hp seem a little bit higher. The only thing you can really do with this card when you get it into the active Pokemon spot is to use Surprise Attack and hope for a heads every turn. The only time you would want to use Swaddle Guard is if it will prevent Swadloon from being knocked out, or you only have one energy card attached to this Pokemon. But again, I would definitely not use Swadloon in a deck without using Leavanny.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a very below average stage 1 Pokemon card. There really isn't anything good about this card if you're not going to use it with Leavanny. Swaddle Guard is a good defensive move, but when Swadloon only has 80 hp to start this move really can't do too much, other than being defensive, Surprise Attack isn't good at all and more than likely will end up allowing you to do zero damage a couple of turns. So, so far I would give this line, Sewaddle and Swadloon and 1 out of 5 rating, the first two evolutions in this line aren't good at all.
