Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Torterra from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set. Torterra is a stage 2, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost. Torterra does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move it has is called Guard Press, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one grass, and does 60 damage. After using this move, any attack that your opponent tries using on you immediately after is reduced by 20. Torterra's second move is called Rumble Stomp, this move requires four energy cards, three colorless and one grass, and does 80 damage plus 20 more damage for each heads you get in a row when you flip a coin.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Torterra is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Turtwig into play and then evolve it into Grotle before you can evolve Grotle into Torterra, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days. Neither Turtwig or Grotle are very good, so neither should be in your deck if you don't plan on using Torterra with them. With that being said, if you want to use Torterra in your deck, try your hardest to evolve into Torterra on your bench. You'll want to do this because neither of Torterra's pre evolutions are very good and Torterra is slow so you don't want it in the active Pokemon spot before it can attack. I would try and get four energy cards on Torterra before moving it into the active Pokemon spot. When it is in the active Pokemon spot I would use Rumble Stomp every turn. I wouldn't make this card the focal point of my deck but it may be a nice Pokemon family to include in a somewhat grass type deck, I wouldn't use more than a 3-2-1 line of this Pokemon family in my deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an average stage 2 Pokemon card. There are some good things about this card and some bad things. For good things, this card has a high hp, it requires mostly colorless energy cards to attack, and both of its moves do a good bit of damage. However, this card has an extremely high retreat cost, both of its moves require a lot of energy, and the Pokemon that are needed to use this card aren't very good. So overall, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating. Torterra is very solid but the other two Pokemon are not.
