Sigilyph -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sigilyph from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Sigilyph is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 90, it has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sigilyph does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Reflective Shield, for one colorless energy card this move makes it so that if Sigilyph is damaged by an attack during your opponent's next turn, put 5 damage counters on that attacking Pokemon.  Sigilyph's second move is called Psy Report and for two psychic energy cards this move does 30 damage plus makes your opponent reveal their hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sigilyph is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, if you're building a psychic type deck, or just looking for a solid Basic Pokemon card, I would highly recommend using this Sigilyph card.  You can use it as a starter type Pokemon, and just by using one energy card, knock out most Basic Pokemon that have evolution forms in two turns or less.  Plus, you can get an idea of what your opponent's strategy is by using Psy Report.  So in short, use this card as a starter type Pokemon in a deck if you want to get to a quick start, by not only doing damage when attacking, but getting an idea of what your opponent's strategy is.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  To me, there really aren't any disadvantages to this card, it has a high HP, low retreat cost, and two good moves.  Like I have said a couple of times already, this card is a quick attacker, can do major damage, and allows you to look at all of your opponent's cards, so definitely considering using this card in a deck.

Sigilyph -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sigilyph from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Sigilyph is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sigilyph's Ability is called Toolbox and says that Sigilyph may have up to 4 Tool cards attached to it.  Besides the Ability, Sigilyph has just one move called Cutting Wind, this move requires three energy cards, one psychic and two colorless, and does 70 damage a turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Sigilyph is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, because the only move Sigilyph has requires three energy cards to use, I would not use more than one of these cards in a deck.  I would definitely use one of these in a deck though since Cutting Wind does do above average damage every turn and as a basic Pokemon, Sigilyph has way above average hp.  So I would try to get this card onto the bench, then three energy cards on it, then move it to the active Pokemon spot and use Cutting Wind, retreating it when it is close to feinting.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the Plasma Blast set.  Even though this card has above average hp and an above average move in Cutting Wind, I am giving this card an average rating because the Ability on this card does absolutely nothing for me, and for a basic Pokemon to have to wait three turns to attack really decreases the impact this card will probably have in a deck.  Nevertheless, I would definitely use one of these cards in a deck, I just wouldn't use more than one.

Sigilyph -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sigilyph from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Sigilyph is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sigilyph's Ability is called Safeguard and says that all effects of attacks are prevented from Sigilyph if a Pokemon EX is attacking it.  Besides the Ability, Sigilyph has one move called Psychic which requires three energy cards, two colorless and one psychic, and does 50 damage plus 10 more damage for each energy card attached to the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a basic Pokemon card with no evolutions, you only need to include this card in the deck if you want to use it.  I would recommend getting Sigilyph onto your bench as soon as possible so that you can take advantage of its Ability, as soon as your opponent puts an EX Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot I would move Sigilyph into the active Pokemon spot.  If your opponent isn't using an EX card, I would wait and move Sigilyph into the active Pokemon spot once it has three energy cards on it and your opponent has a Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot that has at least two energy cards on it, that way, you can move Sigilyph into the active Pokemon spot and do 70 damage with Psychic.  I would not put more than 2 Sigilyph cards in a psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, I think Sigilyph is a great basic Pokemon card.  I like that it has a high hp, low retreat cost, an extraordinary Ability (if you're facing EX Pokemon) and a move that does more damage the more energy cards attached to the defending Pokemon.  So I would recommend using this card for sure, and that's why I'm giving this card an above average rating.

Sigilyph #42/98 -- Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sigilyph from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of two consecutive Sigilyph cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Sigilyph is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to electric type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sigilyph doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Quick Turn and for one psychic energy card this move does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.  Sigilyph's second move is called Psychic Assault and for three colorless energy cards it does 40 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, this is a great card to use after you've used the Sigilyph card from yesterday.  I would suggest using that card right away, getting 50 damage on three or four of your opponent's Pokemon and then moving this Sigilyph card into play, you can then use Psychic Assault and do 90 damage every turn which will knock out most Pokemon in one turn.  If possible, I would keep this card on the bench until I got three energy cards on it.  I would include this card in almost any type deck as long as there are some spread damage type Pokemon in that deck, that way you could always do a good amount of damage with Psychic Assault.  I would include at least 2 Sigilyph cards in a deck, 1 each of the two Sigilyph cards from this set.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  Both of the Sigilyph cards from this set are equally as impressive and both received above average ratings, I especially like this card's ability to do a ton of damage with Psychic Assault and its low retreat cost.  So if you're looking for an attacker this is the Sigilyph card to use, otherwise use yesterday's card.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Sigilyph from the Emerging Powers Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Sigilyph cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Sigilyph is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to electric type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Sigilyph doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Reflect and for one psychic energy card any damage done to Sigilyph by your opponent's attacks during the next turn is reduced by 40.  Sigilyph's second move is called Telekinesis and for three energy cards, one psychic and two colorless, it does 50 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, this is a great card to get into the active Pokemon spot right away in the game, you can put Sigilyph into the active Pokemon spot as your first Pokemon and then use Reflect turn after turn and set up your own benched Pokemon while not taking any damage at all from your opponent's Pokemon since its attacks is reduced by 40.  Once you get your own benched Pokemon set up I would start using Telekinesis and spreading damage around on your opponent's Pokemon, I would do this for as long as possible and then move in another Pokemon that can spread damage around, preferably being able to do 10 or 20 damage to each of your opponent's benched Pokemon at once.  So I would include 1 or 2 of these cards in a psychic type deck and make sure to have other Pokemon in that deck that can do spread damage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  I really like Sigilyph's Reflect move and its ability to spread damage around.  Also its hp isn't bad, and it has a low retreat cost, the only bad thing about this card is that it does take three energy cards to do only 50 damage, but at least you get to choose which Pokemon you do that damage to.
