Mew -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mew from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Mew is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with a HP of 40.  Mew has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mew has an Ability called Neutral Shield that says all effects of attacks, including damage, are prevented from this Pokemon if being attacked by Evolution Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Mew just has one move called Psy Bolt, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and psychic, this move does 30 damage, plus, if you get a heads when flipping a coin, this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mew is a basic Pokemon card with no evolution forms, you'll only have to use this card in a deck if you want to use Mew.  So knowing this, usually with Basic Pokemon like Mew, you'll want to try and use this card as a starter type Pokemon for your deck, however, even though it has an extremely low HP, the strategy with this card would be to get two energy cards on it and keep it on the bench, moving it into the active Pokemon spot only when facing Stage 1 or Stage 2 cards, thus, preventing your opponent from attacking.  The only real downfall with this card is its extremely low HP, all your opponent has to do is switch out their active Pokemon for a Basic evolution and they can start attacking Mew right away, and with only 40 HP, it is really easy to get knocked out in one turn.  So while I really like Mew's Ability, unless you like to play with fire, and aren't too worried about getting knocked out by playing a card with only 40 HP, I would definitely not use more than 1 of these cards in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall from the XY Evolutions set.  Despite the extremely low HP and the fact that Mew can't attack for only one energy card, this card still gets an average rating from me because of its Ability, plus if you set this card up on the bench, it may prevent your opponent from using many of their evolution cards at all.  So if you're looking for some strategy with a card, I would recommend taking a look at this Mew card for your deck.

Mew -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mew from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card Set.  Mew is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 50, it has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Mew's Ability is called Memories of Dawn and says that Mew can use the attacks of any of your Basic Pokemon in play, if Mew has the necessary energy to attack.  Besides the Ability, Mew has just one move called Encounter, that requires one colorless energy card to use, and allows you to search your deck for a Pokemon, reveal it, and put it into your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Mew is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, the strategy with this card is to get a fair amount of energy on Mew while it is on the bench, and then just get the Pokemon that have good moves on them on your bench, but you don't need to get them set up, that way, you can move Mew in and out of the active Pokemon spot for free, using your benched Pokemon's attacks.  The only downfall with this strategy is that Mew has a really low HP, so you're going to have to heal it quite a bit or work on a way to improve its HP.  Encounter works well with Mew's Ability since you can get a Pokemon you want from your deck to put on your bench so Mew can use its move.  Although very interesting the strategy you can take with this card, I would be somewhat leery of using more than one of these cards in a deck just because it has such a low HP and could easily be knocked out in one move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Fates Collide set.  Although this card has a free retreat cost, a great Ability, and a move that works well with its Ability, this card is average at best just because of how low of an HP it has plus the fact this card really depends on the other cards you have in play, and if Mew is your last Pokemon in play, it can't attack at all!

Mew EX -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mew EX from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Mew is a basic, EX, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 120.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mew's Ability is called Versatile and says that Mew can use any attack of any Pokemon in play, you just have to match the energy card cost for that move.  Besides the Ability, Mew EX has one move called Replace which requires one psychic energy card and allows you to move any of the energy cards you have attached to any of your Pokemon in any way you like.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, Mew EX really reminds me of Ditto, it can use any move from any other Pokemon, but Mew EX is better than Ditto because in addition to using any move it likes, it can move energy from one of your Pokemon to another very quickly.  So strategy wise, since Mew EX is an EX Pokemon card, you'll have to remember that if this card gets knocked out your opponent will get to take two prize cards instead of one, but that shouldn't be a problem since Mew EX can retreat for only one energy card.  I would probably keep Mew EX on the bench, and move it into the active Pokemon spot to either use one of your Pokemon's great moves right away, or more than likely to use Replace for a turn, move many of your energy cards in play to one Pokemon and then retreat Mew EX the next turn and put in that Pokemon you just moved all the energy cards to, that way you can attack immediately with that Pokemon, regardless if it requires 4 or 5 energy cards and you didn't have any energy cards attached to it the previous turn.  I would include in a deck that has Mew EX, many Pokemon that have powerful attacks and require good amounts of energy cards to attack, that way you can do a ton of damage with the aid of Mew with any card in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  Even though this card can't explicitly do a stated amount of damage, I still am going to give this card an above average rating because it can greatly increase the power and quickness of your deck, and since Mew EX only has a one energy card retreat cost, there should be no reason why Mew EX can't help your deck since it can go into the active Pokemon spot and attack one turn and retreat the next very easily.
