Durant -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Durant is a basic, grass type Pokemon card with an hp of 70, it has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Durant does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Mountain Munch and for one grass energy card this move does 10 damage, plus it allows you to discard the top card of your opponent's deck.  Durant's second move is called Scrape Down and says that for two energy cards, one each of grass and colorless, that you may discard the top 4 cards of your opponent's deck if Durant has any damage counters on it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Durant is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card would be a very solid starter type Pokemon in a grass type deck.  You can attack for only one energy card, and both moves discard cards from your opponent's deck and if you're able to use Scrape Down a couple of times to start the game, it can greatly decrease the likelihood of your opponent using cards to draw several cards from their deck because they may then run out of cards later in the game.  So, I would try and start the game with Durant in the active Pokemon spot, use Mountain Munch the first turn, then if the defending Pokemon can do 10 damage a turn, spend the time setting up your benched Pokemon after attaching one more energy to Durant so you can use Scrape Down every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set, and one that I would recommend using in a grass type deck.  There aren't any complaints from me on this card, it has an above average HP, low retreat cost, and two solid moves.

Durant -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the Flashfire Pokemon Card Set.  Durant is a basic, metal type Pokemon card with an hp of 70, it has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Durant does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Chip Off, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to discard your opponent's hand at random until they have 4 cards left in their hand.  Durant's second move is called X-Scissor, this move requires two energy cards, one each of metal and colorless, and does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin, it does 20 more damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Durant is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, if you're building a metal type deck and need a starter type Pokemon card for that deck, this Durant card is definitely a card to consider.  I could see myself using 1 or 2 of these cards in a deck, I would try and get Durant into the active Pokemon spot as early in the game as possible, that way Chip Off would definitely discard plenty of cards from your opponent's hand and X-Scissor would be able to knock out some weaker Pokemon in 2 turns for sure.  What is nice about this card is that it has a low retreat cost, so if you have to play it later in the game, you should be able to retreat it no problem.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Basic Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  I like pretty much everything about this card and if you're using this card as a starter type Pokemon it will work well.  It has an above average hp, low retreat cost, and two average to slightly above average moves.  So you definitely can't go wrong with considering this card for your metal type deck.

Durant #92/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second move two Durant cards I've reviewed from this set.  This Durant is a basic, metal type Pokemon card with an hp of 70. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Durant card does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  So so far, this card is exactly the same as yesterday's Durant card.  The first move this card has is called Call for Backup, this move requires one colorless energy card and allows you to search your deck for a Pokemon and put it into your hand.  Durant's second move is called Metal Jail, this move requires two energy cards, one each of metal and colorless, and does 30 damage, plus it makes it so your opponent's active Pokemon cannot retreat during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Durant is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  Because this card only requires two energy cards maximum this card would be an alright starter Pokemon card to put into your deck.  You could put this card into the active Pokemon spot early in the game, use Call for Backup right away to get a Pokemon you need into your hand, then after that either use that move more times to set up the rest of your bench or add another energy card to this card and use Metal Jail.  The later in the game you get this card into the active Pokemon spot the more likely you'll be using Metal Jail instead of Call for Backup.  Compared to yesterday's Durant card, this one is much quicker and can do more damage for less energy cards.  I would actually consider using one of these cards in a deck as a starter type Pokemon but wouldn't use yesterday's card in a deck.  It really depends on what you like to do with basic Pokemon, if you like to attach many energy cards to them and use them late in games, yesterday's card is the one for you, if not today's card is much better.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card set.  I am giving this Durant card the same rating as yesterday's Durant card.  Both are average cards, just involve a little bit different strategy.  On this card specifically, I like that it has two moves, a high hp, and low retreat cost.  I like that Durant can do 30 damage for only 2 energy cards but I wish Durant would be able to do some damage for one energy card.

Durant #91/135 -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two consecutive Durant cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Durant is a basic, metal type Pokemon card with an hp of 70. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Durant card does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move this card has is called Gnaw, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage.  Durant's second move is called Hard Crunch, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one metal, and does 40 damage plus 30 more damage if the defending Pokemon has any damage on it.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Durant is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  In tomorrow's Durant review I'll be comparing the two Durant's from this set so you'll know which one(s) to use in a metal type deck.  Because this is a basic Pokemon card and it does not have a move that requires only one energy card you're going to try and set this card up on the bench if you're using it in your deck.  If you can, attach three energy cards to Durant so you can attack every turn by using Hard Crunch, this move if used consecutively on the same Pokemon will do 55 damage per turn.  It would be a good strategy to have this card be in a spread damage type deck so when Durant is in the active Pokemon spot all the defending Pokemon it faces has at least 10 damage on it that way it can do 70 damage per turn.  I would not use this card in most decks, I may include at most 1 in a metal type deck that has spread damage type Pokemon in it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card set.  I like that this card has a good hp, average retreat cost, and two moves.  I don't like that this card doesn't have a speedy move and that Hard Crunch does below average damage for the energy cards it requires if the defending Pokemon doesn't have damage on it.  Like I mentioned earlier, I wouldn't use this card in a deck, but it wouldn't be that bad in one if you have to use it.

Durant -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  Durant is a basic, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Durant does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move is called Pull Out and for one colorless energy card this move allows you to put a card from your discard pile on the top of your deck.  Durant's second move is called Iron Head, and for two energy cards, one each of metal and colorless, this move does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a basic Pokemon card with no evolutions, you only need to include this card in the deck if you want to use it.  Neither of Durant's moves require much energy so you can easily move this card into the active Pokemon spot very early in the game, but if you are going to use this card, I would recommend using this card later in the game when you have quite a bit of your cards in the discard pile, that way you can use Pull Out and retrieve that card from your discard pile and put it back into your deck and get it into your hand soon after that.  However, if you play this card early in the game, it may be quite effective if you're lucky, because just getting two heads in a row may knock out some basic Pokemon when using Iron Head, so if you use this card early in the game use Iron Head, if you use this card later in the game use Pull Out.  I would not include more than 1 of these cards in a metal type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very average basic Pokemon card.  There is nothing really special about this card, it has a decent hp, good retreat cost, and two okay moves.  Iron Head could be great could be terrible, so overall it balances out to be average, and pull out could be replaced by a trainer card, so like I said in the strategy section of this review, make sure to only use one of these cards in a metal type deck.

Durant -- Noble Victories Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Durant from the Noble Victories Pokemon Card Set.  This is basic, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Durant doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Devour and for one metal energy card, the move says for each Durant in play, discard the top card of your opponent's deck.  Durant's second move is called Vice Grip and for two colorless energy cards it does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this is a basic Pokemon that doesn't evolve this card could easily fit in any deck, especially since the move you want to use, Vice Grip, requires only colorless energy cards.  Durant's Devour move I wouldn't use at all, especially if I didn't have multiple Durant cards in play, and by not using Devour you can avoid having to put metal energy cards into your deck.  So basically I see Durant as a starter Pokemon that can do a fair amount of damage early on in the game, just give it a turn to get ready then the next turn it can attack and knock out most basic Pokemon in two turns using Vice Grip.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  This card gets a below average rating for me, but it is a high 2 rating, it is more like a 2.9.  In my opinion this card is a solid starter Pokemon card, and a solid card to fill one spot you need in your deck.  30 damage per turn isn't bad, it is just a little slow, but with 70 hp it may be able to last a little longer than most basic Pokemon.
