Hypno -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Hypno Sun and Moon Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hypno from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Hypno is a Stage 1, Psychic type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Hypno does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Meditate, for two Colorless Energy cards, this move does 20 damage plus 10 more damage for each damage counter on your opponent's Active Pokemon.  Hypno's second move is called Hypnoblast and for three Energy cards, one Psychic and two Colorless, it does 70 damage and puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hypno is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Drowzee into play (I reviewed Drowzee from this set yesterday) and then evolve Drowzee into Hypno.  If you read yesterday's review of Drowzee, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  I did like how the card had an above average HP, and had two moves, but neither move it had could do that much damage, plus add in the fact it had a higher retreat cost, and I recommended not using it in a deck on its own.  So knowing this about Drowzee and looking at this Hypno card, there are two strategies you could use with this card, the first would be to use this card in a spread attack type deck, therefore when getting Hypno into the Active Pokemon spot, all Pokemon you'll face should have damage on them already, meaning Hypnoblast should do more than 20 damage a turn.  The second strategy would be to quickly get Hypno into the Active Pokemon spot and use Hypnoblast, putting the defending Pokemon to sleep and then setting up your Benched Pokemon.  While both of these strategies make sense for Hypno, this card isn't that spectacular, so just because you're building a Psychic type deck doesn't mean this line should be in it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  Like I mentioned above, this card has a good HP, and two moves that work well with different strategies.  Combined with Drowzee from this set, which I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, I would give these two Pokemon a combined 3 out of 5 rating.

Hypno -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Hypno BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hypno from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Hypno is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hypno's Ability is called Goodnight, Babies, and says that once per turn you may leave both active Pokemon asleep.  Besides the Ability, Hypno just has one move called Zen Headbutt that for two psychic energy cards does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hypno is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Drowzee into play (I reviewed Drowzee from this set yesterday) and then evolve Drowzee into Hypno.  If you read yesterday's review of Drowzee, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card overall since it had a higher HP, and two moves, both requiring little energy and both doing a fair amount of damage.  So knowing this about Drowzee and looking at this Hypno card, you can either set this line up on the bench and utilize Hypno's Ability, or start the game with Drowzee in the active Pokemon spot and then evolve into Hypno and do 50 damage a turn.  I like the second strategy quite well, since 50 damage for two energy cards is quite good, but if you pair this card with a card like Snorlax that can attack while asleep, you could keep this card on the bench, put the defending Pokemon to sleep every turn, then still attack.  Or you could just have another way to wake up your Pokemon every turn.  Either way, this card is solid in that it can attack and affect the game even from the bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  This card doesn't really have any drawbacks, other than the fact it puts your active Pokemon to sleep when using its Ability, but there are ways to work around this.  So Hypno's Ability is quite good, and Zen Headbutt does major damage for only two energy cards.  Overall, both Pokemon in this line were average individually, and combined they get the same rating from me, 3 out of 5.

Hypno -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Hypno Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hypno from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Hypno is a stage 1, psychic type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hypno does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Hand Control, for one psychic energy card, you make your opponent show you their hand, choose one of the supporter cards in their hand, and make them use that card.  Hypno's second move is called Hypnoblast, for three psychic energy cards, this move does 60 damage plus puts your opponent's active Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hypno is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Drowzee into play (I reviewed Drowzee from this set yesterday) and then evolve Drowzee into Hypno.  If you read yesterday's review of Drowzee, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card since it had an above average HP, and two decent moves.  Even though I gave it an average rating, I probably wouldn't use that card in a deck on its own, since it has a higher retreat cost.  So knowing this about Drowzee and looking at this Hypno card, I wouldn't recommend using this family at all, because Hypno is a slower Pokemon to use since you'll want to try and use Hypnoblast every turn and do 60 damage and put your opponent's active Pokemon to sleep.  Other than that move, I am not a big fan of Hand Control, so that is the main reason I would avoid using either of the two Pokemon in this family from this set, both are good on their own, but when you combine them, they just aren't that good.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Just like Drowzee's review from this set, I am giving this card an average rating but still not recommending to use this card in a deck.  Even though this card has two moves, I don't really like Hand Control, and other than putting your opponent to sleep, Hypnoblast just does average damage.  So together with Drowzee, I am giving this line a 2 out of 5 rating, I would probably avoid this two cards when building a psychic type deck.
