Samurott -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Samurott Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Samurott from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card Set.  Samurott is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Samurott does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Ultimate Blade, for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 40 damage, plus if the damage from this attack makes your opponent have 60 HP or less, that Pokemon is knocked out.  Samurott's second move is called Pike and for three energy cards, two water and one colorless, this move does 90 damage, plus this move does 30 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Samurott is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Oshawott into play and then evolve it into Dewott before you can evolve Dewott into Samurott, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both were slightly below average cards.  Oshawott was solid overall, other than the fact its only move required two energy cards to use, so it couldn't be used as a starter type Pokemon.  Dewott, was pretty similar, but the negative on that card is that it couldn't do much more damage than Oshawott even though it was a Stage 1 card.  So knowing how the first two Pokemon in this line fair and then looking at Samurott, if you're building a water type deck, or a spread attack type deck, I would highly recommend using this line.  Of course the best line of attack would be setting up this line on the bench, spreading some damage around with your active Pokemon and then moving Samurott to the active Pokemon spot.  You can then either knock out the active Pokemon and do damage to a benched Pokemon with Pike, or, one by one, use Ultimate Blade to take down Pokemon that already have a fair amount of damage on them.  I would consider using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a deck, and setting it up on the bench, I would not recommend putting either of Oshawott or Dewott in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good Stage 2 water type Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  To me, this is a perfect card to use in a spread attack type deck, or if you're looking for some power.  I really like both of Samurott's moves, both can do above average damage and both moves are fairly quick on the attack.  Together with Oshawott and Dewott from this set, which I gave 2 ratings, I would give this entire line a 3 out of 5 rating.
