Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dewott from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set. Dewott is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Dewott does not have an Ability and only has one move. The only move that this card has is called Razor Shell and for two energy cards, one each of water and colorless, this move does 30 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dewott is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Oshawott into play (I reviewed Oshawott from this set yesterday) and then evolve Oshawott into Dewott. Dewott does have a Stage 2 evolution in Samurott, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Dewott is the final evolution in this line. So if you read my review of Oshawott, you'll know that I thought it was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card. As far as stats go, it was good, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one good move, but because the one move it did have required two energy cards to use opposed to one, the card wasn't the best starter type Pokemon and I couldn't recommend it. So knowing this about Oshawott and looking at this Dewott card, this card is a little better than that card because it has a high HP, and has the potential to do 20 more damage than Oshawott. But, does this difference, make it necessary to use Dewott without Samurott in a deck, definitely not. So, unless you're using the full line of this Pokemon family, pass on both Oshawott and Dewott. If you do use this card in a deck, since Dewott has only one move, you'll want to attach a Trick Coin trainer to this card to give you a better chance at doing more damage.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set. Although this card has a solid HP, and one good move, this card is just too limited overall to make me want to use it in a deck. You don't want to be playing such a limited card and waste two energy a turn to only do 30 damage. So together with Oshawott from this set, which I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, I would give both of these cards combined a 2 out of 5 rating, I cannot recommend using them without Samurott.
