Purugly -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Purugly BREAKpoint Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Purugly from the BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Set.  Purugly is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Purugly does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Slash, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Purugly's second move is called Nyan Press and for three colorless energy cards this move does 40 damage plus 40 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin or if you get a tails, it paralyzes the defending Pokemon instead.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Purugly is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Glameow into play (I reviewed Glameow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Glameow into Purugly.  If you read yesterday's review of Glameow, you'll know that I thought that card was an average card overall, since it had two moves, a solid HP, and low retreat cost, plus since it requires only colorless energy cards to attack, it really only needs one special energy card to use either move.  So knowing this about Glameow and looking at this Purugly card, I would either stick with just Glameow in a deck or avoid this line altogether.  Even though Purugly has an above average HP and two moves, neither move is really that great unless you can get a heads every time when using Nyan Press, then the move is a bit better.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  Really, there aren't any negatives on this card, but it just isn't that good overall, since Slash is an average move at best and Nyan Press, barring a heads, is under-powered.  So if you're looking for a colorless type Pokemon line to play in your deck, this line deserves consideration, but I would probably look elsewhere.  Together with Glameow from this set, I would give this line a 2 out of 5 rating.
