Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Magnezone from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set. Magnezone is a stage 2, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistanceto metal type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Magnezone's Ability is called Magnetic Circuit and says that as often as you'd like during your turn you may attach a lightning type energy card from your hand to one of your Pokemon. Besides the Ability, Magnezone just has one move called Thunder Blast that does 100 damage for three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Magnezone is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Magnemite into play and then evolve it into Magneton before you can evolve Magneton into Magnezone, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed all three of those cards, there are two Magnemite, in the past three days. If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought for the most part they were all below average. Both Magnemite cards couldn't do damage when attacking unless you put two energy cards on them and Magneton could do above average damage but you had to discard an energy card when attacking and it had a really low HP. So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Magnezone card, the main reason you'll want to use this Magnezone card is for its Ability and because you can use an Ability from the bench there is no reason to use more than 1 of each of the Pokemon in this family and ever to move this line to the active Pokemon spot. So if you're building a lightning type deck, this Magnezone card is pretty much a staple of that deck since it makes setting up your lightning type Pokemon cards so easy and can make all of your Pokemon ready to attack in a couple of turns. So to pair with this Magnezone card, you'll want ways to get lots of energy cards into your hand and cards that can retrieve them from your discard pile. Because Magnezone's Ability is so good, I would never put this card in the active Pokemon spot.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an unbelievably good lightning type Pokemon card and one that should be in every lightning type deck out there, it just makes your deck that much better. Even though I really like this card, Magnemite and Magneton from this set are pretty poor, so I can only give the entire line a 4 out of 5 rating.

Magneton doesn't rely on a level to evolve. Rather, it evolves into Magnezone when it is levelled up in either Mount Coronet, Chargestone Cave, Kalos Route 13, or on New Mauville.
