Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Relicanth from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Set. Relicanth is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 90, it has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Relicanth does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Deep Sea Search, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to search your deck for up to 2 Pokemon Tool cards and put them into your hand. Relicanth's second move is called Take Down and for two colorless energy cards, this move does 30 damage, however Relicanth does do 30 damage to itself.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Relicanth is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card. With that being said, the first thing that you'll notice about this card is that it only requires colorless energy cards to attack meaning it can be used in any type deck. But, this card probably shouldn't be used in a deck because it just isn't very good. The only way I would recommend using this card is if you have quite a few Pokemon Tool cards in your deck and you want to get them attached to your Pokemon very quickly, then you could use Deep Sea Search early in the game. Otherwise, if Pokemon Tool cards are not prominent in your deck, I wouldn't use this card for Take Down because it will make Relicanth's higher HP seem more like average after using that move a couple of turns.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Ancient Origins set. I am not much of a fan of this card but it does have an above average HP, and two moves that both require colorless type energy cards so it really isn't that bad, just one I wouldn't recommend using in a deck.
