Altaria 74/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Altaria from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second Altaria card I've reviewed from this set.  Altaria is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Altaria card has an Ancient Trait called Evolution that says you may evolve Swablu into Altaria the first turn of the game or as soon as you put Swablu into play.  Besides the Ancient Trait, Altaria has an Ability called Clear Humming that says each of your colorless type Pokemon have no weakness.  Besides those two things, this card just does have one move called Wing Attack that does 30 damage for two energy cards.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Altaria is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Swablu into play (I reviewed Swablu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Swablu into Altaria, there are actually two Altaria cards from this set and I'll be comparing the two at the end of this paragraph.  If you read my review of Swablu, you'll know that I thought it was a very poor Basic Pokemon card, it only had one move that didn't do any damage to the defending Pokemon but was able to heal 20 damage from one of your Pokemon, this move could be replaced by a trainer card, and the card had an extremely low HP of 40 so you're just asking to get knocked out.  So knowing this about Swablu and looking at this Altaria card, you could definitely use this card in a deck that includes mainly colorless type Pokemon cards because you could just leave this card on the bench and give all of your Pokemon no weakness.  What I really like about this card is that because Swablu is so weak, you can use this cards Ancient Trait to immediately evolve Swablu whenever you put it into play, assuming you have Altaria into your hand.  I could definitely see using a 1-1 of this family in a deck, mainly for Altaria's Ability but its move isn't bad either.  Compared to the dragon type Altaria I reviewed from this set, I like this card a little better, the other Altaria card required metal and water type energy cards to attack, could do the same amount of damage, and could basically refresh your deck, which would be good in the metagame, but it had a lower HP which I didn't like.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There is no complaints for me with this card, it just isn't as overpowering as I would have liked it to be.  It has an average HP, a good Ability and Retreat Cost and an average move.  Like I said above, if you're building a colorless type deck, this card is a must.

Swablu -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swablu from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Swablu is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 40.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Spearow does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Bind Wound, and for one colorless energy card this move heals 20 damage from one of your Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swablu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Altaria, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card without Altaria, mainly because this card can easily be replaced by a trainer card like Potion, that way you don't have to waste an energy card on Swablu and you don't have to worry about getting this Pokemon knocked out.  So as far as strategy, don't even strategize about this card, it just isn't that great, having too low of an HP and a very poor move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Altaria, this is a well below average Basic Pokemon card and one that I would not recommend using in a deck or on its own.  It has too low of an HP and the one move it has can be replaced by a trainer card making this card easily replaceable in a deck.

Swellow 72/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second Swellow card I've reviewed from this set.  Swellow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Swellow card has an Ancient Trait called Plus that says if Taillow knocks out a Pokemon, you get to take an additional prize card.  Besides the Ancient Trait, this card has two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Peck, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Swellow's second move is called Wing Attack and for three colorless energy cards the move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set two days ago) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow, there are actually two Swellow cards from this set and I'll be comparing the two at the end of this paragraph.  If you read my review of Taillow, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a low HP, and the only move it had was a coin flip based move, meaning it could do above average damage every single turn or do no damage at all, so I recommended looking elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.  So knowing this about Taillow and looking at this specific Swellow card, I really like Swellow's Ancient Trait and if you can knock out an EX card with this card you can take three prize cards at once, that is half way to winning the game.  Comparing this card to yesterday's Swellow card, yesterday's card can do way more damage, 90 compared to 50, but you just have to take into account if you think you can utilize this card's Ancient Trait or not.  I personally would try and build a whole deck that included Pokemon that had the Plus Ancient trait, but if you're a beginner, I would recommend yesterday's Swellow card more.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has an average HP and low retreat cost, but compared to yesterday's Swellow card does less damage, but the Ancient Trait on this card makes up for it, so both cards are equal in my opinion, meaning that combined with Taillow from this set I am still giving both cards a 2 out of 5 rating.

Swellow 71/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Swellow cards I'll be reviewing consecutively.  Swellow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Swellow does not have an Ability or Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Clutch, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage, plus it makes your opponent unable to retreat during their next turn.  Swellow's second move is called Aerial Ace and for three colorless energy cards does 60 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow, there are actually two Swellow cards from this set, and I'll be reviewing the second one tomorrow and then comparing the two.  If you read yesterday's review of Taillow, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a low HP, and the only move it had was a coin flip based move, meaning it could do above average damage every single turn or do no damage at all, so I recommended looking elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.  So knowing this about Taillow and looking at this specific Swellow card, you may consider using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family, keeping Taillow on the bench and evolving it into Swellow, once you get three energy cards on Swellow, it can do above average damage every single turn if you flip a heads, so it is best to use this card with Trick Coin.  Also, if you have to put Taillow into the active Pokemon spot early, try your hardest to evolve it right away then you can do 20 damage every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card doesn't blow me away by any means, but it is a solid card overall, having an average HP, and two good moves.  I would definitely consider using this Pokemon line if you are in a jam needing two more cards, however, combined I would give these two cards only a 2 out of 5 rating, I am just not that big of a fan of Taillow.

Taillow -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Taillow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Taillow is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Taillow does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Double Peck, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Taillow is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Swellow, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed either of those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, even though it can fit into any type deck since it is a colorless type Pokemon card.  The reason I would not use this card on its own is because it has a below average HP, and the only move that this card has may end up doing zero damage every single turn.  You don't want to try and put this card into your active Pokemon spot to start the game and never be able to do any damage with it.  If you were using this card with Swellow, it wouldn't be so bad.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Swellow, this card is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  It has a below average HP and the one move it has, even though it has the potential to do above average damage every turn, is a coin flip based move and one that may end up not doing any damage at all.  So if you're in need for a Basic Pokemon card for your deck, make sure to look elsewhere.

Skarmory -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Skarmory from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Skarmory is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 100, it has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Skarmory does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Call for Family, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to search your deck for up to 2 Basic Pokemon and put them onto your bench.  Skarmory's second move is called Blow Through, this move requires two colorless energy cards to use and does 30 damage plus 30 more damage if there is a Stadium card in play.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Skarmory is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, this card would work well as a starter type Pokemon in a deck.  You would try and get it into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use Call for Family the first turn to get some more Pokemon on your bench, then after that use Blow Through every turn, knocking most Basic Pokemon out in two turns, some in one turn if you do 60 damage a turn.  So you'll want to make sure you have some Stadium cards in your deck to boost Skarmory's move.  This card isn't as good of a starter type Pokemon as Dunsparce was from yesterday but I would still recommend this card in a deck if you need one more card to make 60 cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average to slightly above average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring skies set.  There really isn't anything I dislike about this card, it has an above average HP, and two good moves.  So overall, if you're looking for a good card to add to your deck that can be used right away, definitely consider this Skarmory card.

Dunsparce -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dunsparce from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Dunsparce is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60, it has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Dunsparce does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Burrow, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to discard the top card of your opponent's deck.  Dunsparce's second move is called Rollout, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dunsparce is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, since this card is a colorless type Pokemon, it can fit into any type deck, and if you're looking for a solid starter type Pokemon, or a card to put in the active Pokemon spot to start the game, I would highly recommend putting at least one of these cards in a deck.  This card can attack quickly, doing 20 damage for only one energy card, plus when you get your bench set up, you can retreat this card for free.  And, if you have this card on your bench later in the game, you may be able to win by making your opponent run out of cards in their deck, so Burrow may end up winning the game for you.  Overall, this is just a good Basic Pokemon card to use in any type deck out there.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very good Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I like that this card has a free retreat cost, and two moves, both requiring only one energy card.  You really can't go wrong with using this card in a deck, so make sure to consider this card when building.

Meowth -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Meowth from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Meowth is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Meowth does not have an Ability or Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Feelin' Fine, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to draw a card.  Meowth's second move is called Fury Swipes and for three energy cards, all colorless, this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip three coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Meowth is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Persian, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since there isn't a Persian card in this set, I will have to wait and review the one from Ancient Origins, so I will just look at this Meowth card on its own with no relation to Persian from either Ancient Origins or Next Destinies.  So, on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.  The main reason I say this is because this card is extremely slow on the attack, at least if you want to do damage, and if you do get three energy cards on Meowth, you need to get three heads in a row in order to do average damage for the amount of energy cards required to do Fury Swipes.  So instead of using Meowth in a deck, use a Trainer card that allows you to draw cards to replace Feelin' Fine, and use one of many Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokemon cards out there that can do 60 damage every single time for three energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Persian, this is a very poor Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  Even though this card has a low retreat cost, average HP, and two moves, I am still giving this card my lowest rating just because neither move I like at all on this card, and for a card that really doesn't have any glaring negatives about it, this card just doesn't do anything at all for me, so make sure to find a better basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.

Fearow -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Fearow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Fearow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Fearow does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Peck, for one colorless energy card this move does 30 damage.  Fearow's second move is called Drill Run, this move requires four colorless energy cards to use and does 70 damage, plus you get to discard an energy card attached to your opponent's active Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Fearow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Spearow into play (I reviewed Spearow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Spearow into Fearow.  If you read yesterday's review of Spearow, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card and could be used on its own, it has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and one move that was a little on the slow side but did do above average damage.  So knowing this about Spearow and looking at this Fearow card, you could definitely use a 1-1 line of Spearow and Fearow in a deck, you could start the game with Spearow in the active Pokemon spot and evolve it after the first turn and use Peck or just keep Spearow in the active Pokemon spot in awhile and do 30 damage a turn with it.  The advantage of using Fearow over Spearow is that Fearow can do the same amount of damage for one energy card less and it has 40 more HP.  Drill Run is a good move, however, it does require quite a bit of energy and for a card that has 100 damage, that may be too many energy cards to use on it, but you can also choose to set this card up on the bench that way when you move it to the active Pokemon spot you can do 70 damage right away.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has an above average HP, and two average to slightly above average moves.  There really isn't anything that I dislike about this card, it just doesn't stand out that much to me.  Together with Spearow from this set, I would give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating, together they are definitely above average, especially since they can fit into any type deck.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spearow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Spearow is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Spearow does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Peck, for two colorless energy cards, this move does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spearow is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Fearow, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could be used in any type deck since it is a colorless type card and it could easily be used as a starter type Pokemon, or a Pokemon that starts the game in the active Pokemon spot, as long as you're okay with not attacking for a turn.  I would recommend putting one of these in a deck, and getting it into the active Pokemon spot right away, then doing Peck every turn you can, it can knock out most Basic Pokemon in two turns or less.  What I especially like about this card is that even though it requires two energy cards to attack, its retreat cost doesn't make you give both of those energy cards up.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Fearow, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  My only complaint with this card is that it requires two energy cards to attack, other than that this card has a solid HP, low retreat cost, and an above average move.  So if you just need one more Pokemon card for your deck, this Spearow card is worth a look.

Zekrom -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Zekrom from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Zekrom is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 130, it has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Zekrom does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Energy Stream, for one lightning energy card this move does 30 damage, plus you can attach an energy card from your discard pile to Zekrom.  Zekrom's second move is called Electric Ball, this move requires four energy cards to use, two lightning, and one each of fire and colorless.  This move does 100 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Zekrom is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, if you're building a lightning and fire type deck, this card is a must have for that deck.  You could use it as a starter type Pokemon in that deck, potentially using up to four of these in your deck, that way you have a much better chance of getting this card in the active Pokemon spot to start the game, you can then do 30 damage per turn and knock out most Basic Pokemon that evolve in two turns.  If you place Zekrom into the active Pokemon spot later in the game and it isn't set up yet, you can use Energy Stream a couple of times and quickly get four energy cards on Zekrom so you can use Electric Ball and do 100 damage a turn.  If you use this Zekrom card with the dragon type Rayquaza EX and Mega Rayquaza EX in a deck, it will be very powerful.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a top notch Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has a well above average HP, fairly low retreat cost, and two amazing moves.  The first move that Zekrom has does good damage for only one energy card and the second move it has is a little slower, but does major damage every turn.  So like I said above, if you're building a fire and lightning type deck, make sure to use this card in your deck.

Reshiram -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Reshiram from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Reshiram is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 130, it has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Reshiram's Ability is called Turboblaze and says that once per turn if Reshiram is your active Pokemon you may attach a fire energy card to one of your dragon type Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Reshiram just has one move called Bright Wing, this move requires four energy cards to use, two fire, and one each of colorless and lightning, this move then does 110 damage, however you must discard a fire energy card attached to Reshiram after using Bright Wing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Reshiram is a basic Pokemon with no evolutions, you only have to use this Pokemon in your deck if you want to use this card.  With that being said, the only reason I would use this card in a deck is number one if I had a deck with several dragon type Pokemon in it and number two those dragon type Pokemon required fire energy to attack, that way I could just put Reshiram into the active Pokemon spot for a few turns, and not even attack, just use its Ability to set up the rest of the bench.  If you have plenty of energy to spare, you could put four energy cards on this card and attack with Bright Wing, but because you have to discard an energy each turn this card will really eat up energy cards.  So me personally, I would not recommend using this card in a deck, but it does have some potential and can help in a dragon type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I am not the biggest of fan on this card, but it does have a well above average HP, a good Ability, and a powerful move, albeit slow.  So like I said in the strategy section of this post, if you are building a dragon type deck where the cards need fire energy to attack, this card is worth a serious look, otherwise I would pass on it.

Hydreigon EX -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon EX and Hydreigon EX Full Art from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Hydreigon EX is a basic, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 180. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hydreigon's Ability is called Dragon Road and says that if there is a stadium card in play each retreat cost for your dragon type Pokemon is two energy cards less.  Besides the Ability, Hydreigon just has one move.  This move is called Shred, for three energy cards, one each of darkness, psychic, and colorless, this move does 80 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Hydreigon EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  So knowing this about Hydreigon EX, this card could be used for only its Ability by just keeping the card on the bench the whole time, or if you're using a split type deck of darkness and psychic type Pokemon you could use this card.  I personally wouldn't use this card in a deck because it really isn't that much better than a non EX card and I don't want to give up two prize cards to my opponent if Hydreigon gets knocked out.  So probably the only time I would use this card in a deck, and I would only use one, would be if I were building a darkness and psychic type deck, and the deck included a lot of stadium cards, that way you could utilize Hydreigon's Ability while it is on the bench and do a good amount of damage for three energy cards if you put it into the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average, but not spectacular by any means, EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  The card has a solid HP, Ability, and one move, but for an EX card like this one, I was looking for a bit more, some more power or something, so I cannot highly recommend this card unless you're deck is pretty specific.  So if you want to use an EX card in your deck, this card would be okay to use, but you'll be able to find better ones out there.

Mega Rayquaza EX 61/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mega Rayquaza EX from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Mega Rayquaza cards I'll be reviewing from this set, the other being a colorless type card.  Mega Rayquaza EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 230. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Mega Rayquaza does not have an Ability but it does have an Ancient Trait that says if Rayquaza is attacked by the following types: grass, water, lightning, or fire, the damage is reduced by 20.  Besides the Ancient Trait, Mega Rayquaza only has one move called Dragon Ascent, this move requires five energy cards to use, three fire and one each of lightning and colorless, and does 300 damage, however, you must discard two energy cards attached to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
Before I start with the strategy, remember that this card is a Mega Evolution card and an EX card so if you use this card in your deck and it gets knocked out, your opponent gets to take two prize cards instead of one and when you evolve an EX card into its Mega Evolution, your turn ends, you cannot do anything else.  So knowing these things, you'll always want to use Mega Evolution cards with caution, with that being said, this card can be used with either of the two Rayquaza EX cards from this set but I will only think about the one I reviewed yesterday which requires both fire and lightning type energy cards, the same as this one.  You could use that card on its own since it can do up to 130 damage a turn but if you want some major power in your deck, I would highly recommend setting up Mega Rayquaza on the bench and even getting more than 5 energy cards on this card or figuring out a way to quickly attack an energy card to Rayquaza or even two energy cards to it, while also being able to attach energy cards to other Pokemon, that way, you can knock out any Pokemon your opponent puts out there in one move for sure.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Mega EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I like that this card has a very high HP, relatively low retreat cost, a very good Ancient Trait, and a massively powerful move.  The only downside to this card is that it is extremely slow on the attack, but once you get this card set up, it is a one hit KO waiting to happen.  So if you're building a lightning and fire type deck, I would highly recommend using Rayquaza and Mega Rayquaza EX in it, together I would give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating.

Rayquaza EX 60/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rayquaza EX and Rayquaza EX Full Art from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  There are two different Rayquaza EX cards in this set, this review will be about the dragon type one.  Rayquaza EX is a basic, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 180. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Rayquaza EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Dragon Claw, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Rayquaza's second move is called Dragon Strike, for four energy cards, two fire and one each of colorless and lightning, this move does 130 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move and if you get a tails you can't use Dragon Strike the next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Rayquaza EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Rayquaza does have a mega evolution you could use from this set and I will be reviewing that card tomorrow, so this strategy below will act like Rayquaza EX does not have an evolution.  So knowing this, on its own, if you're building a dual type deck of fire and lightning, including one of these cards in that deck is a no brainer.  All I would do is set this card up on the bench, get four energy cards on it, attach a Trick Coin trainer card to it, then when in the active Pokemon spot use Dragon Strike every single turn.  With Trick Coin attached to it, you would give yourself two chances every turn to make sure that you could use Dragon Strike multiple turns.  Dragon Claw isn't anything special, especially on an EX card, the only time I would use this move would be if I can't use Dragon Strike or if I have less than four energy cards on Rayquaza.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has a good HP, fairly low retreat cost, and two moves, one average the other one well above average.  So basically, if you're looking to add major power to your deck, this Rayquaza card should be considered.

Mega Latios EX -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mega Latios EX from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Mega Latios EX is a Mega Evolution, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 220. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Mega Latios does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Sonic Ace, for three energy cards, one each of water, psychic, and colorless, this move does 120 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon, however in order to use this move you must discard two energy cards attached to Mega Latios.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
Before I start with the strategy, remember that this card is a Mega Evolution card and an EX card so if you use this card in your deck and it gets knocked out, your opponent gets to take two prize cards instead of one and when you evolve an EX card into its Mega Evolution, your turn ends, you cannot do anything else.  So knowing these things, you'll always want to use Mega Evolution cards with caution, with that being said, it is very strange that Latios EX from this set can do almost as much damage as this Mega card and that is requires more energy cards to attack.  So Latios EX could definitely be used on its own, but the strategy I would recommend for this Pokemon line would be to evolve Latios EX into Mega Latios EX on the bench, ending your turn.  Then when a Pokemon on your opponent's bench would be knocked out by 120 damage or less, move Mega Latios into the active Pokemon spot, discard two energy cards and knock out that Pokemon, then the next turn retreat Mega Latios for free.  You need a couple of things to make this card really work well, number one you need to use this card in a spread damage type deck, preferably with a card that can do 10 or 20 damage to each of your opponent's Pokemon, and two, you need a way to get energy cards from your discard pile back into your hand or deck so you can quickly reattach them to Mega Latios, if you have those two things working in your deck this card could be very dominant, but I definitely wouldn't use more than a 1-1 line of Latios EX and Mega Latios EX in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Mega EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I really do like Mega Latios' one move, how it can do any 120 damage to any one of your opponent's Pokemon and that it can retreat for free, but having to discard two energy cards every time you use its move seems silly for a Mega EX card, so that is why I am giving it only an average rating.  Together with Latios EX from this set, I can't give these two cards higher than a 3 out of 5 rating, the same rating each card received individually.

Latios EX -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Latios EX and Latios EX Full Art from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Latios EX is a basic, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Latios EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Fast Raid, for one psychic energy card this move does 40 damage, plus if you go first you can use this attack right away.  Latios' second move is called Light Pulse, for four energy cards, two psychic and one each of water and colorless, this move does 110 damage, plus it prevents all effects of an attack except for damage from your opponent's moves during their next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Latios EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Latios does have a mega evolution you could use from this set and I will be reviewing that card tomorrow, so this strategy below will act like Latios EX does not have an evolution.  So knowing this, on its own, unless you're keen on wanting a starter type Pokemon in your deck be an EX card, and therefor using Fast Raid against weaker Pokemon to start the game, I wouldn't recommend this card in a deck, just because it requires two distinct types of energy cards to attack and it is pretty slow on the attack if you want to do 110 damage a turn.  There really isn't anything bad about this card, it is just pretty average overall for an EX card.  If you do decide to use this card in a deck, don't use more than 1, and either start the game with it and use Fast Raid or set it up on the bench so that when in the active Pokemon spot you can use Light Pulse right away.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I really have no complaints with this card, it just isn't extraordinary in any way.  It has a solid HP, lower retreat cost, and two good moves, one quick, the other slower that does a fair amount of damage.  So if in the case you're building a water and psychic type deck this card is definitely worth a look.

Salamence -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Salamence from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Salamence is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Salamence does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have three moves.  The first move that this card has is called Shatter, for one fire energy card this move does 60 damage plus you have to discard any Stadium card in play.  Salamence's second move is called Power Howl and for three energy cards, two colorless and one water, this move does 20 damage times the number of cards in your opponent's hand.  The third and final move that Salamence has is called Steam Blast, this move requires four energy cards to use, two fire and one each of water and colorless, and does 170 damage, however you must discard 3 energy cards attached to Salamence.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Salamence is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Bagon into play and then evolve it into Shelgon before you can evolve Shelgon into Salamence, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed all three cards, since there are two Bagon cards, the past three days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought all three cards were below average, I gave the first Bagon card from the set only a 1 out of 5 rating because the only move it had was based on a coin flip, the second Bagon card I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, it  could do damage every time, even though it did damage to itself also.  The Shelgon from this set I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, it had a good Ability but lower HP and the one move it had was slow on the attack and required multiple energy types to use.  So knowing this about the first Pokemon in this line and looking at this Salamence card, if you want some versatility when attacking and the ability to do major damage, this is definitely a card worth considering.  However, make sure to include this only in a dual type deck of water and fire so you can utilize any of this card's moves.  Because the first two Pokemon in this line are so bad, I would only recommend using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family, and getting Salamence into the active Pokemon spot as soon as possible since it can attack for only one energy card.  I would mainly stick to using Power Howl especially if it does more than 60 damage, otherwise using Shatter for weaker Pokemon.  The only time I would use Steam Blast is if using that move would win the game for me, or if I know Salamence is going to be knocked out before its next turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There are definitely some great positives about this card like the fact it has three moves, each being able to do major damage for the amount of energy the move requires, plus its HP is pretty solid for a Stage 2, the only downside to this card is that it has such a high retreat cost, plus add in discarding energy when using Steam Blast and this card is pretty hard to retreat.  Overall, I can't give this entire Pokemon family more than a 3 out of 5 rating, I would recommend it for a deck, but I just wish the first two stages of this family were a bit better.

Shelgon -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Shelgon from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card set.  Shelgon is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Shelgon's Ability is called Exoskeleton and says that any damage done to Shelgon by attacks is reduced by 10.  Besides the Ability, Shelgon just has one move called Rolling Tackle, this move requires three energy cards to use, one each of water, fire and colorless, and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Shelgon is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Bagon into play (I reviewed both Bagon cards from this set the past couple of days) and then evolve Bagon into Shelgon.  Shelgon does have a stage 2 evolution in Salamence that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Shelgon is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my reviews of the two Bagon cards from this set, you'll know that I wasn't a huge fan of either card, the first card could potentially do more damage but the only attack it had was based on a coin flip.  The second Bagon card from this set is the one I would recommend using with the rest of this Pokemon line, it had two moves, and could do damage every single turn, even though it did damage to itself.  So knowing this about Bagon and looking at this Shelgon card, this card is a bit too slow on the attack and has too low of an HP for me to warrant use, so unless you're using Salamance in your deck, I wouldn't recommend either of the Pokemon in this line. If you do choose to use Bagon and Shelgon without Salamence, only use a 1-1 line in a deck and get Shelgon into play early in the game so you can do 60 damage a turn and hopefully not get knocked out right away since its HP is lower.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has an average move and a good Ability, however its HP is too low for my liking, and the time it takes to attack with this card takes forever, plus it has a high retreat cost.  Together with either of the Bagon cards from this set, I can't give them higher than a 1 out of 5 rating, stay away from these cards unless you need them for Salamence.

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Bagon from the Roaring Skies set.  Bagon is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Bagon does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but this Bagon card does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Leer, for one colorless energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Bagon's second move is called Almost Fight, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fire and water, and does 30 damage, however Bagon does do 10 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Bagon is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Shelgon, and a Stage 2 evolution in Salamance, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will write like I plan on using Bagon on its own, however I will compare both Bagon cards at the end of this section.  So, on its own, I can not recommend using this card in a deck, I say this mainly because Bagon is a little slower on the attack to do any damage and even though this card has an average HP, if you use Almost Fight several times, you'll get knocked out pretty fast.  I wouldn't recommend using either Bagon card from this set on their own, but if you had to choose one to use with the rest of this Pokemon line, this card would be better than yesterday's mainly because this card can for sure do damage every turn when attacking whereas yesterday's card was based on a coin flip, so in the case you have to put Bagon into the active Pokemon spot, this card would fair better.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There are some positives about this card, mainly its HP which is average and the fact it has two moves.  I would have liked to see this card be able to attack for only one energy and do damage, but the move that requires two energy cards on this card does do above average damage although it damages Bagon which is the reason I'm giving this card a lower rating.  So if stuck between which Bagon card to use from this set, use this card.

Bagon 54/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Bagon from the Roaring Skies set.  Bagon is a basic, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Bagon does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Continuous Headbutt, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of fire and colorless, and does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get a tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Bagon is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Shelgon, and a Stage 2 evolution in Salamance, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, and have not reviewed the second Bagon card from this set, this post will act like I am only aware of this Bagon card and that I would be using it on its own.  So on its own, I would not recommend using this card in a deck at all.  Besides having an average HP and low retreat cost, this card is not good at all.  Not only does this card not attack quickly, but the one move it does have is based on a coin flip and if you flip a tails right away, the move does absolutely nothing.  So unless you're a real gambler, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a well below average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  The main reason I'm giving this card such a low rating is because it only has one move and that move is a coin flip based move that gives you a 50/50 chance of not doing any damage at all when attacking.  For a Basic Pokemon I want something that can attack quickly and that can do damage every single turn.  Definitely look elsewhere for cards to use in your deck.

Altaria -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Altaria from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Altaria cards I'll be reviewing on my blog, the other Altaria card is a colorless type card.  Altaria is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Altaria does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Song of Echoes, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to shuffle your hand into your deck and draw cards equal to the number of bench Pokemon in play, yours and your opponent's.  Altaria's second move is called Midnight Eyes, for two energy cards, water and metal, this move does 30 damage plus it puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Altaria is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Swablu into play and then evolve Swablu into Altaria.  I have not actually reviewed Swablu from this set yet since it is a colorless type Pokemon, plus there is a colorless type Altaria card in this set, and I will be reviewing both of those cards in the next couple of weeks.  So for the strategy section of this post, I will just assume Swablu is average and that you'll evolve it into Altaria as soon as you can, in the second Altaria review that I write, I can compare both Altaria cards.  So looking at this specific Altaria, this card definitely could be used just for its Song of Echoes move, but more than likely you won't want to use this card at all in a deck.  Besides having a below average HP, it isn't extremely powerful by any means and it requires two distinct energy types to attack, water and metal.  So unless you're building this specific type of dual deck, I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There really isn't anything that I dislike about this card it just doesn't impress me much.  Plus, add in a lower HP and the fact this card requires two different energy types, and there are much better cards than this one out there to use if you want to put some Dragon type Pokemon in your deck.

Dragonite 52/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dragonite from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second of the two Dragonite cards that I've reviewed from this set, I will be comparing both Dragonite cards in the next section.  Dragonite is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Dragonite card does not have an Ability but it does have an Ancient Trait called Plus that says if Dragonite knocks out a Pokemon, you get to take one additional prize card.  Besides the Ancient Trait, Dragonite has two moves, the first move is called Wrapped in Wind and for one lightning energy card this move allows you to attach up to two basic energy cards from your hand to Dragonite.  Dragonite's second move is called Heavy Impact, this move requires five energy cards to use, three grass and one each of lightning and colorless, and does 150 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dragonite is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Dratini into play and then evolve it into Dragonair before you can evolve Dragonair into Dragonite, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average, giving both cards 2 out of 5 ratings, Dratini and Dragonair both had below average HP and both cards could potentially do a fair amount of damage but those moves were based on coin flips.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Dragonite card, if you're looking for some power, this is the card to use, you'll only want to use a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family and either take a really long time to set up Dragonite on the bench or put Dragonite into the active Pokemon spot with only three energy cards on it and use Wrapped in Wind the first turn to get two more energy cards on this card while being able to add energy to your benched Pokemon.  But once you get this card set up, you are ready to rock and roll, not only will Heavy Impact knock out every Pokemon card out there in two turns or less, you get to take an additional prize card after knocking out a Pokemon, so if you're battling an EX card you get to take three prize cards!  If I were building a grass and lightning type deck both Dragonite cards would be useful, it all depends on how patient you are to attack and if you find healing one Pokemon completely a good thing.  You could always use a 2-2-2 line of this Pokemon family and use one of both of the Dragonite cards, you could then power this Dragonite card up first, start attacking with it, then when it is about to get knocked out, evolve a Dragonair on the bench into the other Dragonite card and use its Ability to completely heal the Dragonite in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  I am giving this Dragonite card the same rating as yesterday's card even though it is slower on the attack and has a higher retreat cost, I like that this card can do more damage and has a higher HP.  Like I said above, this card is very good and either Dragonite card could be used in a deck, again, combine this card with Dragonair and Dratini from this set and I would give them a 3 out of 5 rating, this Pokemon line is definitely worth considering in a deck.

Dragonite 51/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dragonite from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Dragonite cards I'll be reviewing from this set.  Dragonite is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Dragonite's Ability is called Max Wind and says that when you evolve Dragonair into Dragonite using this card you may remove all damage from one of your Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Dragonite just has one move called Mach Press, this move requires three energy cards to use, one each of grass, lightning, and colorless, and does 80 damage, plus if you get two heads when you flip two coins the defending Pokemon is paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dragonite is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Dratini into play and then evolve it into Dragonair before you can evolve Dragonair into Dragonite, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average, giving both cards 2 out of 5 ratings, Dratini and Dragonair both had below average HP and both cards could potentially do a fair amount of damage but those moves were based on coin flips.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Dragonite card, I would recommend using this card if you're intrigued by Dragonite's Ability and think you could put it to good use, if you could get 130 damage or so on an EX card or Stage 2 then be able to remove all of the damage from it, that would really make your deck powerful.  Other than for the Ability, the one move that this Dragonite card has does do above average damage and I like it quite a bit, however, you really can only use this card in a dual type deck of lightning and grass which may not be very popular.  Because Dratini and Dragonair from this set aren't that great, I would recommend only using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There really isn't one thing that I dislike about this card, I am a huge fan of its Ability, even though it can only be used once, and its move, not only does it do above average damage but it can inflict a special condition.  However, when considering this entire line as a whole, I can't give this line a better rating than a 3 out of 5, it can definitely be used in a deck, but it really isn't that great, except for Dragonite.

Dragonair -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Dragonair from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card set.  Dragonair is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Dragonair does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Shed Skin, for one grass energy card this move heals 30 damage from Dragonair.  Dragonair's second move is called Slam, this move requires three energy cards to use, one each of grass, lightning, and colorless, and does 60 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Dragonair is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Dratini into play (I reviewed Dratini from this set yesterday) and then evolve Dratini into Dragonair.  Dragonair does have a stage 2 evolution in Dragonite that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, since there are two, the strategy below will act like Dragonair is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Dratini, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, mainly due to the fact it was only guaranteed to do 10 damage a turn and it had a below average HP.  So knowing this about Dratini and looking at this Dragonair card, this card is pretty similar in that it has the potential to do major damage, in this case with Slam, but since the move is based on coin flips, you'll more than likely end up doing 60 damage or no damage at all.  Just looking at this card seems like it would make a nice bridge between Dratini and Dragonite if you had to put this line into the active Pokemon spot right away, you could then use Shed Skin every turn and keep Dragonair alive.  Without using Dragonite with this card, I cannot recommend using this card in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  There really isn't one thing that I really like about this card, it has a below average HP, and both of the moves it has don't work together at all, even though Shed Skin is a helpful move, but Slam requires too many energy cards and is based on a coin flip so I don't like it.  Together with Dratini from this set, I would give these two cards a 2 out of 5 rating, the same rating I gave each card individually.
