Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set. Electrode is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Electrode does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Continuous Tumble, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get a tails. Electrode's second move is called Energy Bomb, this move requires three energy cards to use, two colorless and one lightning, and does 70 damage, plus you may move all energy from Electrode to your benched Pokemon.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode. If you read yesterday's review of Voltorb, you'll know that I thought it was a a very poor Pokemon card mainly because it could only paralyze the defending Pokemon or knock itself out and do 60 damage, so basically it could not be used as a starter type Pokemon and rendered it useless in my opinion. So knowing this about Voltorb and looking at this Electrode card, this card is definitely better as far as Stage 1 cards go, but it still isn't great. Since I am not a fan of coin flip based moves, I would not recommend using Continuous Tumble unless you only have one or two energy cards on Electrode, otherwise use Energy Bomb every single turn, and make sure to move all of your energy cards from Electrode to your benched Pokemon if you know that Electrode will be knocked out during its next turn. I would not recommend using this Pokemon line in a deck, mainly because Voltorb is just too poor and Electrode doesn't make up for this fact, you'd be able to find much better lightning type Pokemon out there.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set. This card has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one above average, Energy Bomb, one below average, Continuous Tumble. Like I said above, even though this Electrode card is average, I can not recommend using Voltorb and Electrode from Roaring Skies in a deck, together I can only give them a 2 out of 5 rating.
