Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Poochyena from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set. Poochyena is a basic, darkness type Pokemon card with an hp of 60. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Poochyena does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Bite, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage. Poochyena's second move is called Lunge, for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, this move does 30 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move and if you don't get a heads when flipping, the move does nothing.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Poochyena is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Mightyena, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon. However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution. So, on its own I would not recommend using this card in a deck, the main reason being this card is quite limited in what it can do. Even though it does have an average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, Bite is the only move you can count on because Lunge is based on a coin flip. So if you're looking to just include a basic, darkness type Pokemon in your deck, I would look elsewhere, if you have to use this card in your deck, don't use more than 1 and stick to using Bite every turn.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Mightyena, this card is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card. Like I stated above, there are plenty of good things about this card, like the fact it has two moves, and a decent HP, but because this card can really only for sure do 10 damage a turn, I can't give this card an average rating.
