Liepard -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Liepard Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Liepard from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Liepard is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Liepard does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Gentle Bite, for one darkness energy card this move does 10 damage, plus any damage done by attacks from the defending Pokemon is reduced by 60.  Liepard's second move is called mach Claw, this move requires two darkness energy cards and does 40 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Liepard is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Purrloin into play (I reviewed Purrloin from this set yesterday) and then evolve Purrloin into Liepard.  If you read yesterday's review of Purrloin, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card.  It had one good move, but it was limited with only having one move and a low HP.  So knowing this about Purrloin and looking at this Liepard card, if you want to give yourself some time to set up your benched Pokemon, it may be a good idea to include a 1-1 line of Purrloin and Liepard in your deck.  You could try and get Purrloin into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, paralyze the defending Pokemon the first turn, evolve Purrloin into Liepard the second, and then use Gentle Bite after that, preventing your opponent from doing any damage at all with their weak, Basic Pokemon.  I wouldn't include more than one each of both Pokemon in this line because neither can do much for damage, but both cards are very good defensively and can give you time to set up your bench, and both have low retreat costs.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  Like I said in the strategy section of this post, this card is very good on on the defensive side and has a low retreat cost, but because it can't do major damage I cannot give this card higher than an average rating.  Together with Purrloin from this set, I would give both a 3 out of 5 rating, they both could be used together in a darkness type deck.
