Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Jellicent from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set. Jellicent is a stage 1, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100. It has a x2 weakness to lighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Jellicent's Ability is called Stickiness which says that each of your opponent's Pokemon's retreat cost is one colorless energy card higher. Besides the Ability, Jellicent just has one move called Eerie Light which requires three energy cards, two colorless and one water, and does 40 damage. Besides doing the damage, if you get a heads when you flip a coin the defending Pokemon is confused.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Jellicent is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Frillish into play (I reviewed Frillish from this set yesterday) and then evolve Frillish into Jellicent. If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I would not recommend using this card at all, so I would make sure to not put Frillish into the active Pokemon spot first before evolving it into Jellicent. With that being said, I would not move Jellicent into the active Pokemon spot either if I could avoid it, I would just keep it on the bench and use its Ability. Otherwise, if you have to put this Pokemon card into play, you'll have no choice but to put three energy cards on Jellicent and use Eerie Light every turn. I wouldn't recommend using this card or this line as an integral part of your deck, I could see using Jellicent just for its Ability, if you choose to do this, I would not use more than a 1-1 line of Frillish and Jellicent in almost any type deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating. In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card. Two good things about this card are the following: One, it has a high hp, and two, its Ability is very good and it does not need to be in the active Pokemon spot ever to be effective. However, there are many more negative things about this card, the first being Frillish is absolutely terrible, and you'll have to include that card in your deck if you use Jellicent, Jellicent has a really high retreat cost, and Jellicent's only move doesn't do much damage for three energy cards. So again, do not use this card unless you want it only for its Ability, and then make sure to use only one of these cards in a deck. Overall, I would give this line a 1 out of 5 rating, neither Pokemon is good, and overall they are terrible.
