Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hydreigon from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set. This is the first of two consecutive Hydreigon card reviews I'll be doing from this set. Hydreigon is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150. Hydreigon is the stage 2 evolution of Zweilous, and before that Deino, both of those Pokemon I have reviewed the past couple of days, and both of those Pokemon are in this set. Hydreigon has a x2 weakness to dragon type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost. Hydreigon's Ability is called Dark Trance and it says that as often you like during your turn you may move a darkness energy card attached to 1 of your Pokemon to another one of your Pokemon. Besides the Ability, Hydreigon has only one move called Dragonblast which requires four energy cards, two darkness, one colorless, and one psychic, and does 140 damage, however after using this move you must discard two darkness energy cards attached to this card.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hydreigon is a stage 2 Pokemon, I would recommend evolving Deino into Zweilous and then Zweilous into Hydreigon on your bench. I would attach as many darkness energy cards as possible to Hydreigon while it's on the bench and then late in the game, when you need a miracle I would move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot and use Dragonblast as many times as possible. But if you don't need a miracle, it would be smart to get your bench full start attaching energy cards to all those Pokemon and then if you move Hydreigon into the active Pokemon spot you can utilize its Ability and get energy cards on it very quickly so you're able to use Dragonblast almost every turn. If you choose to use this Hydreigon card in your deck, make sure to have plenty of darkness energy cards as well as some psychic energy cards. I would suggest using a 3-2-1 line of Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon in a darkness and psychic type deck.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. I think this card is a slightly above average stage 2 Pokemon card. I like how it has above average hp, an extremely good Ability, and one move that does a good amount of damage, even though it is a slow move and will be hard to use every turn. I'll have to compare this card to tomorrow's Hydreigon card but right now I would definitely recommend using this Pokemon card line in a deck.
