Pokemon Card of the Day: Furret (Heart Gold/Soul Silver)
Today's Pokemon Card of the Day is Furret from the Heart Gold/Soul Silver set, this is a stage 1, colorless Pokemon card with an hp of 80. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Furret doesn't have a Poke-Power or Poke-Body but it does have two moves, the first move is called Find a Friend and for one colorless energy card Furret can search your deck for any Pokemon you want and put it into your hand. Furret's second move is called Quick Blow and this move takes 2 colorless energy cards and does 20 damage unless you flip a heads then it does 40 damage instead of 20. As far as strategy goes I would really only use this card to Find a Friend, but I probably wouldn't even do that because it would take up too many spots in the deck since you'd have to have at least 2 or 3 Sentret's in your deck and 1 or 2 Furret's and by that time it would be a waste to have them just for the one move, so more than likely I would just use a supporter that would allow me to find a Pokemon I wanted. I would rate this card a 2 out of 5 because even though I wouldn't really use this card it isn't the worst one possible to use it can still do 40 damage a turn if you're lucky and you could always retreat the card as soon as you use Find a Friend. So thanks for reading today's review of Furret from the Heart Gold/Soul Silver set, stay tuned for tomorrow's review of Granbull from the same set.
Furret is an alright card, but there are better Pokemon searching cards out there.
ReplyDeleteThe Hp is alright for a Stage 1, the retreat is OK, but would've been nice if it were 0 so you could 'find a friend', bench it then switch straight into it, making a fast attack. It's weakness isn't really nice. With Machamp around, this guy will get one-shot by Take Out and is vulnerable to Dragon Rush by Garchomp C, Blaziken FB LV.X's Jet Shoot and even Charizard AR, which can do 80 for 1 energy if it has a full fire type Bench.
It's second attack is rarely going to be used. For 2 energy cards, or a Double Colourless Energy, you do 20 with a 50/50 chance of 40. Not too bad, but you would expect a bit more from a stage 1. I would rather do a guaranteed 30 damage for the same amount of energy with Garchomp, which is a basic Pokémon instead of a Stage 1.
Furret SW is a much better variation of this card. It can search for any 2 cards for no energy, has 90 Hp and has a +20 weakness to fighting instead of x2. This will let you set up easier and faster.
Due to these points, I give Furret a 1/5. Furret Sw (even though rotated) is much better, and there are definitely many other cards that are able to get Pokémon out faster than this. Just think, you need to get a Sentret, then evolve into Furret, then draw into an Energy to use Find a Friend. It's quite slow if you ask me. I would just rather use cards to increase consistency than use this guy to help me set up. It's just too much of a hassle, and a bench-sitting, useless prize for your opponent.
@Nintendan I definitely agree with you there, thanks for the great analysis of this card.
