Spoink -- Fates Collide Pokemon Card Review

Spoink Fates Collide Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spoink from the Fates Collide Pokemon Card Set.  Spoink is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Spoink does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Rocket Jump.  This move does 30 damage for one psychic energy card if you get a heads when flipping a coin, otherwise it does nothing.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spoink is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Grumpig, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, unless you're using 4 Trick Coin trainer cards in your deck, I cannot recommend using this card.  The main reason being that this card may do zero damage every single turn, and since the card just has one move you have no other option but to attack using Rocket Jump every turn.  This card would be much less risky if used with Grumpig since you could evolve Spoink right away, at most using this card only one turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Grumpig, this card is slightly below average.  Just looking at the numbers on this card, it is solid overall, with an average HP, low retreat cost, quick move, and the ability to do a fair amount of damage, but because this card just has one move and that move is based off of a coin flip, this card gets a below average rating from me.

Spoink -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Spoink Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spoink from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Spoink is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Spoink does not have an Ability and it only has one move called Splash.  This move requires one psychic energy card and does 10 damage.

So, on its own even though this card is average, I wouldn't use this card in a deck.  I say this because it is quite limited on what it can do, this Spoink card could be used in a pinch since it can attack very quickly and has an average hp, but I would rather include other basic Pokemon that have better moves or to make sure to include Grumpig with this card.  Of course, if you use this card in your deck, your only option when in the active Pokemon spot will be to use Splash when it's your turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set. Again, I wouldn't use this card in a deck on its own, but it is an average card because it has an average hp, low retreat cost, and one solid move.  This card is just too limited for me to want to use in a deck without Grumpig.

Spoink -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Spoink Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Spoink from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Spoink is a basic, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Spoink does not have an Ability, and it only has the one move.  Its only move is called Flail Around which requires one psychic energy card and does 10 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip three coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Spoink is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Grumpig, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll probably want to use this card with Grumpig.  This card could be a pretty good starter Pokemon and could be used on its own if you want.  Because it only requires one energy card this card is very quick and can do 30 damage in one turn which is excellent for a starter Pokemon.   So, strategy wise, if you are using this card on your own I would try and get this card in the active Pokemon spot early in the game, attach one energy card to it and then use Flail Around every turn.  If this card gets into your hand later in the game, I would either keep this card in your hand or keep it on the bench.  Because it only has 50 hp, it won't last long later in games.  So this card could be used on its own, but if you choose to use it on its own I would only use 1 of these in a psychic type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card has below average hp, I'm still giving this card an average rating.  I like how this card is quick, requires little energy, and has a low retreat cost.  However, be aware this card may be able to do 30 damage but at the same time might be able to do 0 damage a few turns in a row.
