Simisear -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Simisear Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Simisear is a Stage 1, Fire type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Scratch, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 30 damage.  The second move on this card is called Flare Recharge, for two Energy cards, one each of Fire and Colorless, this move does 50 damage, plus it allows you to attach a Fire Energy from your discard pile to one of your Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisear is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansear into play (I reviewed Pansear from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansear into Simisear.  If you read yesterday's review of Pansear, you'll know that I thought that card was slightly below average overall.  The card did have an above average HP, but it only had one move that did a maximum of 10 damage per turn, making the card very limited in play and not one to use in the Active Pokemon spot any other time than to start the game.  Knowing this about Pansear and looking at this Simisear card, I actually think this is a useful card for a Fire type deck.  Of course you're going to want to use 4 Burning Energy cards in your deck, so that if you have to discard an Energy card when attacking, you can immediately re-attach it, but if you need a quick way to get Fire Energy cards from your discard pile onto your Benched Pokemon, any type, not just Fire type Pokemon, this Simisear card may be for you.  I like how Scratch can use any type of Energy card and can attack quickly, plus, Flare Recharge does do a solid amount of damage for only two Energy cards in addition to re-attaching a discarded Energy card.  So while this card has to be in the Active Pokemon spot to be effective, if you're building a Fire type deck, this is certainly a card to consider.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, this card is very solid overall, having a good HP, and two quick attacking moves that both do a fair amount of damage, plus, if you're using lots of Fire Energy cards in your deck, this card is a good way to retrieve those cards from the discard pile.  Together with Pansear from this set, both cards get a 3 out of 5 rating from me.

Simisear -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Simisear BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Simisear is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Simisear card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Water Fling, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to move 3 water energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.  Simisear's second move is called Hand Fling and for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage times the number of cards in your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisear is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansear into play (I reviewed Pansear from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansear into Simisear.  If you read yesterday's review of Pansear, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card and one that shouldn't be used on its own, mainly because the only move it had was based off of coin flips, other than that it was good in that it had an average HP, low retreat cost, and could do up to 30 damage per turn.  So knowing this about Pansear and looking at this Simisear card, the first thing I want to point out for both cards is that neither require fire energy cards to attack so this line could ideally be played in a water type deck and then give your deck some variation on the Pokemon you're weak to.  I wouldn't use these two cards in a fire type deck, but in a water type deck so that you can utilize Simisear's Water Fling move.  I could see myself using a 1-1 line of these two Pokemon in a water type deck, more than likely evolving this line on the bench, then waiting until there are several water energy cards in the discard pile before putting Simisear into the active Pokemon spot, then using Water Fling the first turn and Hand Fling the second.  Water Fling makes Hand Fling do 30 more damage the first turn, but also look at adding Trainer cards into your deck that allows you to draw cards from your deck, thus giving Hand Fling more power.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  This card is just very good overall, having a low retreat cost, average HP, and two good moves, one that greatly helps out your water type Pokemon by making sure you can attach a water type energy each turn, and the second move allowing you to do a good amount of damage the more cards you have in your hand.  I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, no complaints from me on this line and this is a line that should be considered when building water type decks.

Simisear -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Simisear Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Simisear is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simisear does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Yawn, for one colorless energy card this move puts the defending Pokemon to sleep.  Simisear's second move is called Flamethrower, and for three energy cards, two colorless and one fire, this move does 90 damage, however you must discard a fire energy card attached to Simisear after using the Flamethrower move.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisear is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansear into play (I reviewed Pansear from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansear into Simisear.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Pansear was a below average basic Pokemon card that probably shouldn't be used in a deck without this Simisear card.  So strategy wise, you'll want to evolve Pansear into Simisear as early as you can on the bench, then you can either move Simisear into the active Pokemon spot and put the defending Pokemon to sleep to allow you to set up your benched Pokemon, or you can keep Simisear on the bench and put three energy cards, or more, on it to be able to use Flamethrower when it is in the active Pokemon spot.  If you choose to use Simisear in your deck, don't use more than 1 each of Pansear and Simisear, I would recommend putting at least 4 energy cards on Simisear if you use it so you can use Flamethrower multiple turns in a row.  I personally wouldn't use this line in a deck, both Pokemon are a little slower and both discard energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is slightly below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  I do like that Simisear has 90 hp, a low retreat cost, and two moves.  But nothing really stands out on this card and even though Flamethrower does above average damage, it really don't do that much for me since you have to discard an energy card each time you use it.  Overall, this Pokemon family is below average and get a 2 out of 5 from me, the same rating both received individually.

Simisear -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Simisear Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Simisear is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simisear does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move it has is called Searing Flame, this move requires one fire energy card and does 20 damage plus burns the defending Pokemon.  Simisear's second move is called Flame Blast, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 40 damage plus 20 more damage for each fire energy card attached to this Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisear is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansear into play (I reviewed Pansear from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansear into Simisear.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Pansear was an average basic Pokemon card.  With that being said, you may have Pansear in the active Pokemon spot already when you get Simisear into your hand, whenever you get Simisear into the active Pokemon spot you're going to want to make sure to only attach fire energy cards to it so at a minimum Fire Blast would do 100 damage per turn.  So when Simisear is your active Pokemon use whichever move you have the right amount of energy for.  I would even suggest if you evolve Pansear into Simisear on your bench and don't put it into the active Pokemon spot right away that you put 4 or 5 fire energy cards on this card so that it can do even more damage when using Flame Blast.  Because Pansear is a little slower to attack, I would only use a 2-2 line of this Pokemon family in a mostly fire type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good stage 1 Pokemon card and would definitely be a good addition to your fire type deck.  I like both of Simisear's moves, both can do a good amount of damage for the amount of energy cards required.  The only thing I wish should be better on this card is its hp, but it is average for a stage 1 Pokemon card so I can't complain too much.  Overall, I would give the line of Pansear and Simisear from the Plasma Storm set a 4 out of 5 rating.

Simisear -- Black and White Pokemon Card Review

Darumaka Black and White Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisear from the Black and White Pokemon Card Set.  Simisage is a stage 1, fire type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simisear doesn't have an Ability, but it does have two moves, the first move is called Flame Burst and for one fire energy card, it does 20 damage, plus 20 more damage to 2 of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Simisear's second move is called Fury Swipes and for three colorless energy cards, this move does 40 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip three coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Flame Burst is a spread damage type move, I would include this card in a spread damage type deck.  And because Flame Burst only requires one energy card, and Fury Swipes can take any type of energy, I would recommend putting this card in any type spread damage type deck, because it should be fairly easy to either get a fire energy card or special energy card on Simisear to use Flame Burst no matter the deck.  As you can tell, I would use Simisear solely for spread damage, as soon as I get one energy card on Simisear I would move it into the active Pokemon spot and use Flame Burst every turn until Simisear either is knocked out, you win the game, or you need to retreat.  I don't think I would attach more than one energy card to Simisear, but if you want to be safe you could always attach three energy cards total and then use Fury Swipes any time you want to do major damage to your opponent's active Pokemon.  I would use a 2-2 line of Pansear and Simisear in any spread damage type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  This is a very good spread damage type Pokemon card.  It is one of the best I've reviewed so far and it is definitely the best uncommon card I've reviewed from the Black and White set so far.  The only things to watch out for when using this card is that although Simisear's hp is average, it really isn't that high so it might not last as long as you wanted in the active Pokemon spot, and if you're not the luckiest that day, Fury Swipes may end up doing 0 damage for you a couple of turns.  But overall it is a great card, and one I would recommend wholeheartedly.
