Simisage -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisage from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Simisage is a Stage 1, Grass type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Scratch, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 30 damage.  The second move on this card is called Leaf Supply, for two Energy cards, one each of Grass and Colorless, this move does 50 damage, plus you may attach a Grass Energy card from your hand to one of your Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisage is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansage into play (I reviewed Pansage from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansage into Simisage.  If you read yesterday's review of Pansage, you'll know that I thought that card was average overall.  It was very limited in what it could do, with only one move that could do a maximum of 10 damage.  I did like that the card had a low retreat cost, only required one Energy card attack, and had an above average HP, but it certainly couldn't be used on its own for a long time.  Knowing this about Pansage and looking at this Simisage card, if you're building a Grass type deck, this is a great line to include in your deck.  If only Simisage had an Ability that did what Leaf Supply did, but nevertheless, this is a great Pokemon line to start the game with and then get your Benched Pokemon set up.  What I like about this move is that it doesn't specify a type of Pokemon that a Grass Energy can be attached to, so it can be a powerful Pokemon like an EX or GX, or a Pokemon that isn't even a Grass type Pokemon.  So this Leaf Supply move is the main reason to use this line in a deck.  Simisage's first move is also useful since it can do a fair amount of damage for one Colorless Energy card, but this line works best in a majority Grass type deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, this is a pretty amazing card to use in a Grass type deck, since Simisage's move allows you to get an extra Energy attached to one of your Pokemon each turn, as long as you have Energy in your hand and you use Leaf Supply.  Together with Pansage from this set, both Pokemon get a 4 out of 5 rating from me, again, if you're using a Grass type deck, definitely try and include these Pokemon in your deck.

Simisage -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisage from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Simisage is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Simisage card does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Fire Fling, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to put three fire energy cards from your discard pile into your hand.  Simisage's second move is called Hand Fling, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 10 damage times the number of cards in your hand.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisage is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansage into play (I reviewed Pansage from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansage into Simisage.  If you read yesterday's review of Pansage, you'll know that I thought that card was below average overall, mainly because the only move it had was based on a coin flip and even though it had the potential to do up to 30 damage a turn, it could end up doing 0 damage every single turn.  So knowing this about Pansage and looking at this Simisage card, you're going to either want to use this card in a dual type deck, fire and grass so that Fire Fling is a useful move, or use several trainer and supporter cards in the deck so that you can always have a lot of cards in your hand and have Hand Fling do major damage.  The best case for this card would be to use it in a fire type deck, have plenty of fire type energy cards in your discard pile, move Simisage to the active Pokemon spot, use Fire Fling the first turn, getting three more cards into your hand, then using Hand Fling the next turn having those three cards do 30 more damage.  Since this card can't straight out attack, it isn't for every type deck out there, but this card definitely has some potential and allows you to recycle the energy cards in your discard pile, so if you're building a heavy fire type deck, this line is worth using, having one each in your deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set that can become above average if used in a heavy fire type deck.  I really like the idea of moving fire energy cards from your discard pile into your hand then doing damage because you did this the prior turn.  Since you can only use 4 Burning Energy in a deck, you're bound to have to discard some fire energy cards in the game and Simisage can help you get those cards back into play.

Simisage -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisage from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Simisage is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simisage does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Torment, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage and you get to choose one of your opponent's active Pokemon's attacks and disable it for their next turn.  Simisage's second move is called Solar Beam, this move requires three energy cards, two grass and one colorless, and does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Simisage is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pansage into play (I reviewed Pansage from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pansage into Simisage.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Pansage was an excellent basic grass type Pokemon card to use as a starter type Pokemon in grass type decks.  So knowing that about Pansage and looking at this Simisage card, I would highly recommend using this entire Pokemon family in a grass type deck, this line won't be the line you build the deck around but it will definitely make a contribution.  So I would use a 4-2 line of Pansage and Simisage in a deck, I would move Pansage into the active Pokemon spot early in the game, then set the other ones up on the bench and evolve them into Simisage on the bench.  Whenever you do get Simisage into the active Pokemon spot, use whichever move you have the required energy for.  To me, Torment is a very interesting move and I think it could really annoy your opponent, but any time you can knock out the defending Pokemon with 70 damage, use Solar Beam over Torment.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  There really isn't anything that I don't like about this card, it has a low retreat cost, and two good, but not great moves.  Combined with Pansage from this set, I'm giving this Pokemon family a 5 out of 5 rating, it is very good.  Individually Pansage was a 5 and Simisage a 4.  This line should definitely be in a lot of grass type decks out there.

Simisage -- Black and White Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Simisage from the Black and White Pokemon Card Set.  Simisage is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to water type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Simisage doesn't have an Ability, but it does have two moves, the first move is called Seed Bomb and for one grass energy card this move does 30 damage.  Simisage's second move is called Fury Swipes and for three colorless energy cards it does 40 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip three coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this card only requires one energy card to attack you can definitely put this card into the active Pokemon spot right away.  Since Fury Swipes takes colorless energy cards you can basically put this card in any type deck, and use a special energy card to take care of Seed Bomb.  I would actually prefer Fury Swipes over Seed Bomb every turn unless you need to knock out the defending Pokemon and you can knock it out by doing damage of 30 or less, if that is the case I would use Seed Bomb over Fury Swipes.  If I were to use this Pokemon in a deck, I would use it in any type deck, but it is always easier to use in a grass type deck, and use a 2-1 or 2-2 line of Pansage and Simisage.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very average stage 1 Pokemon card.  It has a good hp, and two solid moves.  The reason it doesn't get a higher rating is this card doesn't do anything special, it doesn't inflict a special condition, spread damage, or for sure do a lot of damage, so that is why I'm giving this card an average rating.
