Pikachu -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Pikachu does not have an Ancient Trait or Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tail Whip, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and makes the defending Pokemon unable to attack during its next turn if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Pikachu's second move is called Electro Ball, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pikachu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Raichu, which is in both Furious Fists and the XY sets, you'll more than likely want to use this card with one of those cards.  However, since Raichu isn't in this set, and I've reviewed those Raichu cards previously, I'll just act like I'd use Pikachu on its own, you can always go back and read my Raichu reviews.  So on its own, this card could definitely be used as a starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck.  It has a solid HP and low retreat cost, plus two moves, one is pretty average, possibly below average in Tail Whip, and the other, Electro Ball, is above average.  So what I would try and do with this card is to put 1 or 2 of these in a deck, and get Pikachu into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, get two energy cards on Pikachu, then use Electro Ball most turns, knocking out Basic Pokemon in two turns.  You could always attack a Trick Coin trainer card to this card and have a better chance at making your opponent unable to attack with Tail Whip.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Raichu, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  Other than not being able to do damage for only one energy card, this card is pretty good overall and I like Pikachu's second move that does above average damage for an attack like that on a Basic Pokemon card.  So if you're building a lightning type deck or are just a fan of Pikachu, this card is definitely worth consideration.
