Gligar -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gligar from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Gligar is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Gligar does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  This card's only move is called Double Shot, for one Fighting Energy card this move does 10 damage to 2 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gligar is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Gliscor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, if you're building a spread attack type deck or a Fighting type deck, I would highly recommend using this card as a starter type Pokemon in that deck.  Not only can this card attack for only one Energy card, but it can do damage to two of your opponent's Benched Pokemon each turn.  This is a great way to set up several knock outs in a row later in your game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gliscor, this is an average to slightly above average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  Although limited with just one move, I still am a pretty big fan of this card since it can spread damage around when attacking.  Of course, the downfall to the spread attack with this card is that if your opponent doesn't have any Benched Pokemon, Gligar doesn't do any damage.  But overall, this card would make a great starter type Pokemon for a deck.

Gligar -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gligar from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Gligar is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Gligar does not have an Ancient Trait or an Ability and it only has one move.  This move is called Stun Poison, for one colorless energy card this move paralyzes and poisons the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gligar is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Gliscor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, I would recommend using this card in a deck, sure it would be nice to poison and paralyze the defending Pokemon right away to start the game, but since Gligar only has the one move and it is based off of a coin flip, I would not recommend using this card in a deck.  There are much better starter type Pokemon out there to use, depending on how good Gliscor is when I review it tomorrow, this card may work perfectly fine with it.  Of course if you do use this card in a deck, attaching a Trick Coin card to it will give you a better shot of flipping a heads.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gliscor, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card.  Even though this card can't do any damage and the only move it has is based off of a coin flip, I am giving this card a 2 rating instead of a 1 because it does have an above average HP and a low retreat cost.

Gligar -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gligar from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Gligar is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Gligar does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Rock Cannon, for two colorless energy cards, this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gligar is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Gliscor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own I would not recommend using this card in a deck.  The main reason I say this is because this card is totally dependent on coin flips, so if you get this card all set up with two energy cards, and flip a tails right away, Gligar can do absolutely nothing.  If you do decide to use this card in a deck, I wouldn't use more than one, and I would try my hardest to get a Trick Coin trainer card on this card so you have two chances of at least starting off with a heads when performing Rock Cannon making the move do at least 20 damage a turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Gliscor, this card is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  I do like that this card has an average HP, can be used in any type deck, and has the potential to do gobs of damage, however, this card is slow on the attack and like I said earlier in this post, this card may end up doing no damage at all for you.  So I would veer away from this card if at all possible.

Gligar -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Gligar from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Gligar is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to lightning type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Gligar does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Gligar's first move is called Tail Smack and for one fighting energy card this move does 10 damage.  Gligar's second move is called Wicked Jab, this move does 20 damage for two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless.  Plus, if you get a heads when you flip a coin while using Wicked Jab, the defending Pokemon is paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Gligar is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Gliscor, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll probably want to use this card with that Pokemon.  With that being said, this card would be an excellent starter Pokemon in a fighting type deck.  I would include 2 or 3 of these cards in a fighting type deck so that I would have a good chance of being able to start the game with one of these Pokemon in my active Pokemon spot.  Once Gligar is in the active Pokemon spot you should use whichever move you have enough energy for.  So I would recommend using this card in a deck, even on its own without Gliscor.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average basic Pokemon card.  This card has an above average hp, low retreat cost, and two very solid moves.  What gives this card a boost from an average to an above average basic Pokemon card is the fact that Wicked Jab may end up paralyzing the defending Pokemon as well as doing 20 damage.
