Escavalier -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Escavalier from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Escavalier is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Escavalier does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Poke Through, for one metal energy card this move does 20 damage, plus you get to discard a random card from your opponent's hand.  Escavalier's second move is called Sprial Rush, this move requires three energy cards to use, one metal and two colorless, and does 60 damage plus 30 more damage for each heads you get when you flip a coin until you get tails.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Escavalier is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Karrablast into play (I reviewed Karrablast from this set a few weeks ago) and then evolve Karrablast into Escavalier.  If you read my review of Karrablast, you'll know that I thought that card was a very solid Basic Pokemon card other than having a low HP, because it could either do 10 damage for one energy card or 20 damage for two.  One thing to note on these two cards is that Karrablast is a grass type card and requires one grass energy card to attack while Escavalier is a metal type Pokemon requiring metal energy.  So if you want to use this line in a deck, you'll probably want to be building a dual type deck of grass and metal or use special energy cards that can act as either type.  This Pokemon line is definitely worth of at least a 1-1 line in a deck, you could use Karrablast right away in the game and then evolve into Escavalier when you get it into your hand, or you could set up this line on the bench and waiting until Escavalier has three energy cards on it before moving it to the active Pokemon spot.  I would recommend using Spiral Rush every single turn, and would even recommend attaching a Trick Coin tool card to this so you have a better shot at doing more than 60 damage a turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  The only thing I don't like about this card is its retreat cost, which is fairly high.  Other than that, this card has a great HP, and two good moves, one is quick and does not only damage but discards a card from your opponent's hand, the other does major damage for only three energy cards.  So if you're building a grass and metal type deck and are looking for some power, this line is definitely recommended, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating overall.

Escavalier -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Escavalier from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Escavalier is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card, with an hp of 100.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Escavalier does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Steamroll, this move requires two energy cards, one each of metal and colorless, and does 40 damage, plus it does 20 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Escavalier's second move is called Slashing Strike, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one metal, and does 80 damage, however Escavalier can't use that move the next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Escavalier is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Karrablast into play (I reviewed Karrablast from this set a few weeks back) and then evolve Karrablast into Escavalier.  If you read that review, you'll know that I thought Karrablast was an average basic Pokemon card that could be used on its own but would be better utilized with Escavalier.  One thing to note with this family is that Karrablast in this set is a grass type Pokemon but Escavalier is a metal type Pokemon, but both require either colorless or metal type energy cards.  Even though Karrablast could be used on its own, I would try to set this line up on the bench if you're using it in a deck because Escavalier has a pretty high retreat cost so you'll want to make sure you can retreat it when you put it in the active Pokemon spot.  This card would work well in a spread damage type deck, one turn you could use Slashing Strike the next turn you could use Steamroll.  I would recommend using this line in a metal type deck, I would use a line of 3-2 of Karrablast and Escavalier.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card from the Plasma Blast set.  I definitely like this card overall, not only does it have above average hp, it has two above average moves to go a long with it.  The only drawback on this card is its retreat cost, but it shouldn't be that big of a deal breaker.  Overall, I would give these two Pokemon, Karrablast and Escavalier from the Plasma Blast set a 4 out of 5 rating, individually they had a 3 and 4 rating.

Escavalier -- Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Escavalier from the Dark Explorers Pokemon Card Set.  This is a stage 1, metal type Pokemon card with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Escavalier doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Joust and for one metal energy card it does 30 damage and allows you to remove a Pokemon tool card that is attached to the opposing Pokemon before doing any damage.  Escavalier's second move is called Cavalry Lance which takes three energy cards, two metal and one colorless, and does 70 damage, and during your opponent's next turn Escavalier has no weakness.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since this Pokemon card is fairly quick and can attack with only one energy card you can put this card into the active Pokemon spot whenever you get it in your hand and already have Karrablast in play.  I would try and use Cavalry Lance every turn, especially if you're facing a fire type Pokemon, but if your opponent has a Pokemon Tool card in play I would definitely consider using Joust and discarding that card from the opposing Pokemon as long as 70 damage wouldn't knock them out in one turn.  I would suggest putting this card in a mainly metal type deck and have a 2-1 line of Escavalier and Karrablast.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  This card is pretty average overall, it has an average hp, one average move, and one above average move is balanced out by a high retreat cost.  So that is why I'm giving this card a 3 out of 5 rating, I would definitely consider this card in a metal type deck but wouldn't build a metal type deck around this card.
