Chimchar -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Chimchar Steam Siege Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chimchar from the Steam Siege set.  Chimchar is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Chimchar does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Scratch, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.  Chimchar's second move is called Ember and for two energy cards, one each of fire and colorless, this move does 30 damage, however if you get a tails when flipping a coin, you must discard a fire type energy card attached to Chimchar.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Chimchar is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Monferno, and a Stage 2 evolution in Infernape, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Chimchar does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, this card is a very solid starter type Pokemon for a fire type deck and an excellent start to the Infernape line.  The reason I say this card is very good is because you can use 4 Burning Energy in your deck and attach one of them to Chimchar to use with Ember, that way, even if you get a tails when flipping a coin, you can re-attach that energy card after attacking.  So, if you're building a fire type deck, this is a card you want in the active Pokemon spot to start the game, not only can it attack for only one energy card, but it can do a fair amount of damage with two energy cards, and with a solid HP and low retreat cost, it is an easy retreat when you get your benched Pokemon set up.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly above average Basic Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Without using Burning Energy, I would say this card is an average card, but if you include that Special Energy card, this card is above average and if you plan playing this entire line, this is a great way to start out the Pokemon family.  I would recommend taking a strong look at this card when building a fire type deck.

Chimchar -- Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Review

Chimchar Plasma Storm Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Chimchar from the Plasma Storm Pokemon Card Set.  Chimchar is a basic, fire type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to water type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Chimchar does not have an Ability, and it only has one move.  The only move it has is called Flare, this move requires one fire energy card and does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Chimchar is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Monferno and a stage 2 evolution in Infernape, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, Chimchar is a pretty decent starter Pokemon card for a fire type deck.  I would include up to four of these in my deck and hope to get a Chimchar card into the active Pokemon spot immediately to start the game.  As soon as Chimchar is in the active Pokemon spot I would attach a fire energy card to it, if there already isn't one on it, and use Flare every turn.  While Chimchar is in the active Pokemon spot I would be busy setting up my bench Pokemon so I could retreat Chimchar in a few turns and move that better Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very solid basic Pokemon card and a basic Pokemon card that can be used in a deck without its evolutions.  I like this card's retreat cost, and its only move which is quick and can do a good amount of damage.  However, Chimchar can't do anything more than the one move that does just 20 damage a turn.
