Zweilous -- Steam Siege Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Zweilous from the Steam Siege Pokemon Card set.  Zweilous is a Stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Zweilous does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Double Hit, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip 2 coins.  Zweilous' second move is called Power Breath and for three energy cards, one each of psychic, darkness, and colorless, this move does 80 damage, however you must discard an energy attached to Zweilous after attacking.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Zweilous is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Deino into play (I reviewed Deino from this set yesterday) and then evolve Deino into Zweilous.  Zweilous does have a Stage 2 evolution in Hydreigon, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Zweilous is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read my review of Deino, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it was solid in the fact it had an average HP and two moves, but it was slow on the attack, had a higher retreat cost, and just didn't really have anything that great about it.  So knowing this about Deino and looking at this Zweilous card, this card is pretty similar in that it has a solid HP and two moves, but just isn't that good overall.  I definitely don't like coin flip based moves and that is exactly what Double Hit is, so instead of using that move I would want to use Power Breath, which does do above average damage, but requires two distinct types of energy to attack and makes you discard an energy when attacking.  So unless Hydreigon from this set is really good, I don't see any reason to use the first two Pokemon in this line in a deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:  
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Steam Siege set.  Like I mentioned above, this card has a solid HP and two moves, but neither move that this card has is very good, one could do zero damage every turn and the other discards an energy.  Together with Deino from this set, which I gave a 2 out of 5 rating, I would give both cards a 1 out of 5 rating, do not use them in a deck on their own.

Zweilous -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Zweilous from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card set.  Zweilous is a stage 1, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Zweilous does not have an Ability and it only has one move, the only move that this card has is called Slam, this move requires two energy cards, one each of darkness and psychic, and does 30 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Zweilous is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Deino into play (I reviewed Deino from this set yesterday) and then evolve Deino into Zweilous.  Zweilous does have a stage 2 evolution in Hydreigon that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Zweilous is the final evolution in this line.  So if you read yesterday's review of Deino, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card mainly because of its low HP, and the fact the only move it had required two distinct types of energy cards and it couldn't attack for only one energy card.  So knowing this about Deino and looking at this Zweilous card, I would not recommend using this card in a deck without using Hydreigon.  I say this because Zweilous again, like Deino requires two distinct types of energy cards to attack, plus its only move, may end up doing no damage at all every single turn.  So I cannot recommend a strategy at all to use with this card because there is not a situation where I would recommend using Deino and Zweilous without using Hydreigon, and then I would set up the entire line on the bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a well below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set.  Besides having an average HP, everything else on this card are well below average.  Its only move may end up doing zero damage every turn, and this card requires two unique energy cards to attack, thus making this card need a pretty specific deck to use.  So combining with Deino from this set, both are below average, and would get a 1 out of 5 rating from me, stay away from both Pokemon cards.

Zweilous -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Zweilous from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Zweilous is a stage 1, darkness type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to psychic type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Zweilous does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Bite, for two energy cards, one each of darkness and colorless, this move does 30 damage.  Zweilous's second move is called Body Slaw and requires three energy cards, two colorless and one darkness, and does 30 damage, plus paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Zweilous is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get one of the two Deino cards from this set into play (I reviewed both Deino cards from this set the past two days) and then evolve one of them into Zweilous.  Zweilous does have a stage 2 evolution in Hydreigon that you'll probably want to use with this Pokemon line but since I haven't reviewed that card yet, the strategy below will act like Zweilous is the final evolution in this line.  So if you've read the past two Deino cards I've reviewed I think those cards are absolutely terrible and should be stayed away from at all costs, with that being said, I think this card is just as bad and I would avoid the whole line of this Pokemon family at all costs.  If you have your heart set on using Hydreigon from this set, first I'll have to see if it is that good when I review it tomorrow and if it is good, you'll want to use Deino and Zweilous from a different set.  If for some strange reason you want to use this sub-standard Pokemon line, I wouldn't use more than 1 each of Deino and Zweilous, they are that bad, and I would keep Deino on the bench, evolve it into Zweilous and try to use Body Slam every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a way below average stage 1 Pokemon card and it is definitely one of the worst stage 1 cards I have reviewed in quite some time.  The only good thing about this card is that it has an average hp, other than that, both moves on this card are extremely below average, and the card has a high retreat cost as well.  So stay away from this card if you can, I would rate both Deino cards and this Zweilous card from the Plasma Freeze set a 1 out of 5.
