Swellow -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Swellow Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Swellow is a Stage 1, Colorless type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to Lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Fighting type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Agility, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, all effects of attacks, including damage, done to Swellow by your opponent during their next turn is prevented.  Swallow Dive is the name of the second move on this card, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 40 damage, plus 80 more damage if you used Swellow's Agility move during your last turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow.  If you read yesterday's review of Taillow, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  The card did have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and a quick attacking move, but the only move the card did have, did do 10 damage to Taillow each time it was used.  Knowing this about Taillow from this set and looking at this Swellow card, because Swellow is so quick on the attack, I would definitely recommend trying to use this line to start a battle.  You can essentially do 70 damage per turn with Swellow if you alternate between using Agility and Swallow Dive.  Plus, if you get some luck, and flip a heads when using Agility, you'll give your Bench that much more time to get set up, and have more time to do damage with Swellow while it is in the Active Pokemon spot.  Ideally you'd want something higher than 90 HP for a Pokemon you're going to want to use in the Active Pokemon spot as an attacker, but this is enough HP in my opinion for this card to be excellent overall, and a card and line that should be considered for most decks.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a well above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  I really don't think you can go wrong by using this card in a deck, it works with any type Energy, only requires one Energy card to attack, is defensive, with some luck, and can do major damage to your opponent's Active Pokemon.  Despite Taillow from this set being below average overall, I would still give this entire line a 4 out of 5 rating.

Swellow 72/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Swellow Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the second Swellow card I've reviewed from this set.  Swellow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  This Swellow card has an Ancient Trait called Plus that says if Taillow knocks out a Pokemon, you get to take an additional prize card.  Besides the Ancient Trait, this card has two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Peck, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Swellow's second move is called Wing Attack and for three colorless energy cards the move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set two days ago) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow, there are actually two Swellow cards from this set and I'll be comparing the two at the end of this paragraph.  If you read my review of Taillow, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a low HP, and the only move it had was a coin flip based move, meaning it could do above average damage every single turn or do no damage at all, so I recommended looking elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.  So knowing this about Taillow and looking at this specific Swellow card, I really like Swellow's Ancient Trait and if you can knock out an EX card with this card you can take three prize cards at once, that is half way to winning the game.  Comparing this card to yesterday's Swellow card, yesterday's card can do way more damage, 90 compared to 50, but you just have to take into account if you think you can utilize this card's Ancient Trait or not.  I personally would try and build a whole deck that included Pokemon that had the Plus Ancient trait, but if you're a beginner, I would recommend yesterday's Swellow card more.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has an average HP and low retreat cost, but compared to yesterday's Swellow card does less damage, but the Ancient Trait on this card makes up for it, so both cards are equal in my opinion, meaning that combined with Taillow from this set I am still giving both cards a 2 out of 5 rating.

Swellow 71/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Swellow Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  This is the first of two Swellow cards I'll be reviewing consecutively.  Swellow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Swellow does not have an Ability or Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Clutch, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage, plus it makes your opponent unable to retreat during their next turn.  Swellow's second move is called Aerial Ace and for three colorless energy cards does 60 damage plus 30 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow, there are actually two Swellow cards from this set, and I'll be reviewing the second one tomorrow and then comparing the two.  If you read yesterday's review of Taillow, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it had a low HP, and the only move it had was a coin flip based move, meaning it could do above average damage every single turn or do no damage at all, so I recommended looking elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon card to use in your deck.  So knowing this about Taillow and looking at this specific Swellow card, you may consider using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family, keeping Taillow on the bench and evolving it into Swellow, once you get three energy cards on Swellow, it can do above average damage every single turn if you flip a heads, so it is best to use this card with Trick Coin.  Also, if you have to put Taillow into the active Pokemon spot early, try your hardest to evolve it right away then you can do 20 damage every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card doesn't blow me away by any means, but it is a solid card overall, having an average HP, and two good moves.  I would definitely consider using this Pokemon line if you are in a jam needing two more cards, however, combined I would give these two cards only a 2 out of 5 rating, I am just not that big of a fan of Taillow.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Swellow from the Roaring Skies set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of the second Swellow card, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Swellow -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Swellow Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Swellow from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Swellow is a stage 1, colorless type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy retreat cost.  Swellow's Ability is called Drive Off and says that once during your turn, you may have your opponent switch their active Pokemon with one of their benched Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Swellow has one move called Wing Attack, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Swellow is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Taillow into play (I reviewed Taillow from this set yesterday) and then evolve Taillow into Swellow.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Taillow was a below average basic Pokemon card that had a decent move, but the move it did have required some time and luck to utilize it properly, besides that it had a low hp, and just very limited overall.  So you'll want to limit the number of Taillow cards you have in your deck and the main reason for using Swellow in your deck is for its Ability, which means you can keep this Pokemon family on the bench most of the game.  I wouldn't use more than 2 each of Taillow and Swellow, and I would try my hardest to include this line in a spread damage type deck, that way, not only do Pokemon cards in your deck do damage to multiple Pokemon at once, but you can utilize Drive Off to knock out those Pokemon one by one.  Of course, if you get Swellow into the active Pokemon spot, you can use Wing Attack every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  Other than having an average hp and attacking move, everything else is above average on this card, I really like Swellow's Ability, and this should greatly help your entire deck, plus if you do have to put Swellow into the active Pokemon spot you can retreat it for a mere energy card.  So if you're building a deck, I would highly recommend considering the line of Taillow and Swellow from the X and Y set, together they are a 3 out of 5 rating, individually, Taillow as a 2, Swellow a 4.
