Rayquaza EX 75/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Rayquaza EX Roaring Skies
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rayquaza EX and Rayquaza EX Full Art from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  There are two different Rayquaza EX cards in this set, this review will be about the colorless type one.  Rayquaza EX is a basic, EX, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to lightning type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Rayquaza EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Intensifying Burn, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage, plus 50 more damage if the defending Pokemon is an EX card.  Rayquaza's second move is called Dragon Pulse and for three colorless energy cards does 100 damage, however you must discard the top 3 cards of your deck.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Rayquaza EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card.  But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one.  However, Rayquaza does have a mega evolution you could use from this set and I will be reviewing that card tomorrow, so this strategy below will act like Rayquaza EX does not have an evolution.  So knowing this, on its own, if you're looking for a bit of power this card may be for you if you're looking for a colorless type Pokemon card to use in your deck.  I would definitely recommend using this card for Dragon Pulse, but be prepared to either lose a lot of cards from your deck quickly or devise a way to get those discarded cards back into your deck or hand.  If you know your opponent is going to have lots of EX cards in your deck, this card wouldn't be a bad card to use just because it can do 60 damage a turn for one energy card against those Pokemon.  Looking at the two Rayquaza EX cards from this set, both can do major damage, this one can do 100 damage for three energy cards, the dragon type one can do 130 damage for four energy cards so it really comes down to what kind of deck you're building since the dragon type card uses fire and lightning type energy cards.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card is decent overall having one poor move, unless you're facing an EX, and one good move doing 100 damage a turn.  So again, if you're building a deck and need a bit more power, definitely give this Rayquaza EX card a look.

Rayquaza EX 60/108 -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Rayquaza EX Roaring Skies
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rayquaza EX and Rayquaza EX Full Art from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  There are two different Rayquaza EX cards in this set, this review will be about the dragon type one.  Rayquaza EX is a basic, EX, dragon type Pokemon card with an hp of 180. It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Rayquaza EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Dragon Claw, for two colorless energy cards this move does 30 damage.  Rayquaza's second move is called Dragon Strike, for four energy cards, two fire and one each of colorless and lightning, this move does 130 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move and if you get a tails you can't use Dragon Strike the next turn.

So knowing this, on its own, if you're building a dual type deck of fire and lightning, including one of these cards in that deck is a no brainer.  All I would do is set this card up on the bench, get four energy cards on it, attach a Trick Coin trainer card to it, then when in the active Pokemon spot use Dragon Strike every single turn.  With Trick Coin attached to it, you would give yourself two chances every turn to make sure that you could use Dragon Strike multiple turns.  Dragon Claw isn't anything special, especially on an EX card, the only time I would use this move would be if I can't use Dragon Strike or if I have less than four energy cards on Rayquaza.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an above average EX Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has a good HP, fairly low retreat cost, and two moves, one average the other one well above average.  So basically, if you're looking to add major power to your deck, this Rayquaza card should be considered.

Rayquaza EX -- Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Review

Rayquaza EX Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Rayquaza EX from the Dragons Exalted Pokemon Card Set.  This set has not been released in the United States but it will be released on August 15, 2012.  This is the first of two consecutive reviews I'll be doing of the new Dragon type EX cards.  Rayquaza EX is a basic, EX, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 170.  It has a x2 weakness to dragon type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Rayquaza EX doesn't have an Ability but it does have two moves, the first move is called Celestial Roar and for one colorless energy card you may discard the top 3 cards of your deck and attach any energy cards from those three cards to Rayquaza EX.  Rayquaza EX's second move is called Dragon Burst and for two energy cards, one each of fire and electric, it does 60 damage times the number of all basic electric or fire energy cards you choose to discard from Rayquaza EX.  Just know, whichever energy type you choose, you must discard all of that type of energy card from Rayquaza EX.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since you'll need a lot of energy cards with this card, I would recommend to put 25-30 energy cards in a deck with Rayquaza EX.  I would hope to get Rayquaza EX into the active Pokemon spot as soon as the game started and use Celestial Roar to find energy cards from your deck and then use Dragon Burst two turns in a row, the first time using fire energy cards, the second using electric energy cards.  Another way to use this card, besides getting it into the active Pokemon spot right away, is to put Rayquaza EX on your bench and over time add energy cards to it, so by close to the end of the game you have 6 energy cards on it, three each of fire and electric, you can then move Rayquaza EX into the active Pokemon spot, and if you have 2 or less Pokemon to knock out before you win the game, Rayquaza EX should guarantee that you win the game.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  I have a feeling this card is going to be very popular...however I'm not going to give it a 5 out of 5 rating because it is somewhat slow and you aren't guaranteed that you'll be able to do some damage every turn.  But if you have some patience this card can be dominant, and with a high hp, and low retreat cost, this card should withstand many of your opponent's attacks.
