Raichu -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Raichu Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Raichu is a Stage 1, Lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 110. It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Raichu's Ability is called Evoshock and says that when you play Raichu from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon, you may leave the defending Pokemon Paralyzed.  Besides the Ability, Raichu just has one move called Volt Tackle, for three Energy cards, two Lightning, and one Colorless, this move does 130 damage, however it does do 30 damage to itself.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raichu is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pikachu into play (I reviewed Pikachu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pikachu into Raichu.  If you read yesterday's review of Pikachu, you'll know I thought it was a solid card overall.  It had two moves, one that could do damage and another that could Paralyze the defending Pokemon.  That card could be used as a starter type Pokemon, but the strategy with this line is to include several in your deck so that you can Paralyze the defending Pokemon each turn, while Raichu is on your Bench, then attack with your Active Pokemon.  Personally, I've seen this strategy several times when battling online, trainers use Devolution Spray to move Raichu back into their hand so they can continuously use its Ability.  Plus, if you do have to use Raichu's move, Volt Tackle does do a good amount of damage, I just wish it required two Colorless Energy cards instead of two Lightning.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is one of the best cards to use in a Lightning type deck right now, since it can be used from the Bench and it can make your opponent unable to attack you at all!  So pair this Pikachu and Raichu line with a powerful attacker and you'll be able to take down most decks out there!  Together with this specific Pikachu from the Burning Shadows set, I would give both cards a 5 out of 5 rating.

Raichu -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Raichu Evolutions Pokemon Card Review
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Raichu is a Stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 100. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Raichu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Energize, for one lightning energy card this move allows a lightning type energy card to be moved from the discard pile and attached to Raichu.  Raichu's second move is called Spark Bolt and for three energy cards, two lighting and one colorless, this move does 70 damage, plus, if you decide to discard all energy attached to Raichu, this move does 70 damage more for 140 total damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raichu is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pikachu into play (I reviewed Pikachu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pikachu into Raichu.  If you read yesterday's review of Pikachu, I thought it was a very solid card overall, one that could even be used on its own as a starter type Pokemon, since it could attack for one energy card doing 10 damage or even be used later in the game and do 30 damage a turn.  So knowing this about Pikachu and looking at this Raichu card, this is probably a card you'll want to set up on the bench because it takes three energy cards for its only attacking move, and even then, it only does a little above average damage.  The only time you would want to do 140 damage with that move is if you can retreat Raichu for free the next turn, you plan on having it defeated next turn, or if you knock out the defending Pokemon you'll win the game.  So overall, if building a lightning type deck, I could definitely see using a Pikachu more than this entire line combined, but you can always include a Raichu for some more power.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the XY Evolutions set.  Although I don't necessarily recommend using it in a deck, this card has a slightly above average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves that work well together if Raichu isn't set up for doing damage when attacking.  Combined with Pikachu from this set, I would give this line a 3 out of 5 rating, but again, there are definitely better cards out there to use, these just aren't that bad overall.

Raichu -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Raichu BREAKthrough Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Raichu is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Raichu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Thunderclap Shot, for two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, this move does 50 damage to each of your opponent's EX Pokemon.  Raichu's second move is called Electrosmash and for three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, this move does 70 damage plus 20 more damage if you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raichu is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pikachu into play (I reviewed Pikachu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pikachu into Raichu.  Raichu does have a BREAK card in this set and I'll be reviewing that card tomorrow.  If you read yesterday's review of Pikachu, you'll know that I thought that card was an average Basic Pokemon card, it had a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two moves.  So knowing this about Pikachu and looking at this Raichu card, the main reason you'd want to use Raichu in a deck would be for its Thunderclap Shot move, this move will not only effect all of your opponent's EX Pokemon at once, but it may prevent them from putting their EX Pokemon into play at all.  So ideally, you would have a 1-1 line of this family in your deck, set Raichu up on the bench and if your opponent has multiple EX in play, or EX on the bench, move Raichu into the active Pokemon spot and use Thunderclap Shot then retreat it for free.  Even if your opponent doesn't have any EX cards, Electrosmash does do above average damage so it is a fine move to use against the active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 5 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good Stage 1 Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  There is absolutely nothing that I dislike about this card.  This card can be dominant against EX cards as well as regular Pokemon plus you can move this card in and out of the active Pokemon spot at will because it has a free retreat cost.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, the line of Pikachu and Raichu is one you should consider, I would give these two cards a 4 out of 5 rating combined.

Raichu -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Raichu Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Raichu is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Raichu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Thunder Shock, for two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, this move does 30 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when flipping a coin.  Raichu's second move is called Electro Ball, this move requires three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless, and does 80 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raichu is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pikachu into play (I reviewed Pikachu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pikachu into Raichu.  If you read yesterday's review of Pikachu, you'll know that I thought that card was a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card.  It had everything you would like on a Basic Pokemon card except for a move that requires only one energy card to use, because of that I gave the card a 2 rating instead of a 3, but I stated that if you really needed one more card for your deck, that card could definitely be used.  So knowing this about Pikachu and looking at this Raichu card, I would definitely consider using a 1-1 or a 2-2 line of this Pokemon family in a deck.  You could get Pikachu or Raichu into the active Pokemon spot early and use Thunder Shock first and then move on to Electro Ball, or you could set up Raichu on the bench, get three energy cards on it, and then move it to the active Pokemon spot and do 80 damage every single turn with Electro Ball.  A very nice thing about this card is that it has a low HP for the amount of damage it can do, so you can easily play this card later in the game and retreat it for basically nothing.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  There really isn't anything that I dislike about this card.  Raichu is fairly quick on the attack, and both moves this card has do above average damage.  The only thing actually average on this card is its HP, which can always be made higher by using Potion cards on Raichu when battling.  So overall, if you're building a lightning type deck, I would definitely recommend using this line, together, I would give Pikachu and Raichu a very solid 3 out of 5 rating, individually Pikachu was a 2 and Raichu was a 4.

Raichu -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Raichu Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Raichu from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Raichu is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a free retreat cost.  Raichu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Circle Circuit, for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage times the number of Pokemon on your bench.  Raichu's second move is called Thunderbolt and for three energy cards, one colorless and  two lightning, this move does 100 damage, however after using this move you must discard all energy cards attached to this card.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Raichu is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Pikachu into play (I reviewed Pikachu from this set yesterday) and then evolve Pikachu into Raichu.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Pikachu was an average basic Pokemon card from this set and one that could be used on its own but one that probably should always be used with Raichu.  So I would recommend if you're building a lightning type deck to use a 2-1 line of this Pokemon family and definitely evolve the one Pikachu card into Raichu on the bench.  That way, you can put three energy cards on it and then move it into the active Pokemon spot for one turn, use Circle Circuit or Thunderbolt, whichever move does more, then retreat Raichu back to the bench the next turn for free.  I would keep moving Raichu in and out of the active Pokemon spot the whole game and trying to always keep a full bench so Circle Circuit could easily do 80 or more damage a turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  I particularly like this card's free retreat cost and its Circle Circuit move which work very well together.  This card can do major damage one turn and be back on the bench the next turn without having to discard any energy cards which makes it a perfect addition to any lightning type deck you may be building.  Together, I think Pikachu and Raichu from this set are above average and would get a 4 out of 5 rating.  Individually, Pikachu was 3, Raichu was a 4.
