Porygon -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Porygon Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Porygon from the Burning Shadows set.  Porygon is a Basic, Colorless type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Code Check, for one Colorless Energy card, this move allows you to look at one of your opponent's face-down Prize cards.  The second move on this card is called Beam, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Porygon is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Porygon2, and a Stage 2 evolution in Porygon-Z, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Porygon does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, unless you find it really important to be able to see one of your opponent's Prize cards, I would pass on using this line without any of Porygon's evolution forms.  This card should work perfectly fine as a Basic starter type Pokemon to start a game, but you never want to use a Pokemon with only 60 HP for long in the Active Pokemon spot.  Since this card is a Colorless type deck, it can be used in any deck.  Like I mentioned, the main reason you want to use this card, other than getting to Porygon-Z, would be to see one of your opponent's Prize cards, by  doing this, you can achieve some clarity on your opponent's strategy, plus, you know which exact Prize cards you looked at, so you'll know what Prize card your opponent gets into their hand when they knock out a Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Similar to some of the other Basic Pokemon that I've been reviewing lately, there is nothing really wrong with this card, it just isn't usable in the Active Pokemon spot for long.  This card does have a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two quick attacking moves.

Porygon -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Porygon XY Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Porygon from the XY Evolutions set.  Porygon is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Porygon does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Conversion 3, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to choose one of the Pokemon types from the TCG and make your opponent's Pokemon weak to that Pokemon type until the end of your next turn.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Porygon is a Basic Pokemon with a Stage 1 evolution in Porygon2 and a Stage 2 evolution in Porygon-Z, you'll more than likely want to use Porygon with one or both of these Pokemon, however in Base Set, Porygon did not have any evolution forms, so neither of those two Pokemon are in this set, the newest set to feature those two Pokemon would be Ancient Origins.  So, just looking at this Porygon card, it is definitely a usable card if you have a way to freely switch Pokemon in and out of your active Pokemon spot, ideally you would use Porygon's Conversion move the first turn, change the opponent's weakness to something you have in your deck, then move that type of Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot the next turn and attack, more than likely doing double damage since the defending Pokemon will be weak to the attacking Pokemon type.  You could go back and forth with these two Pokemon for as long as possible.  The only trouble with this strategy is that it limits the Pokemon you can use since they have to have a free retreat cost or you have to use a bunch of trainer cards that allow you to switch out your active Pokemon for free.  While you could definitely build a deck around this strategy, I would rather just have one of these Porygon cards in a deck and give the strategy a try, and if it really works for you, add in Porygon cards as time goes by.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  While I love Porygon's Conversion move since it can double the amount of damage an attack does, this card can't do any damage on its own, meaning you're always going to have to switch this card out if you want to do damage.  So, while there is potential with this card, there are much better standalone Basic Pokemon cards out there that should be considered before this card.

Porygon -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Porygon Ancient Origins Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Porygon from the Ancient Origins set.  Porygon is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Porygon does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Data Check, for one colorless energy card this move allows you to look through your deck, however you must shuffle it afterwards.  Porygon's second move is called Sharpen and for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Porygon is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Porygon2, and a Stage 2 evolution in Porygon-Z and there are two Porygon-Z cards in this set, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Porygon does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, this card probably shouldn't be used in decks, mainly because it requires two energy cards as opposed to one to attack the defending Pokemon.  Data Check could be a very helpful move, however, number one, you should always know what cards you have left in your deck and number two, a trainer card is much better for looking through your deck.  If you know that you're going to use Porygon2 and possibly Porygon-Z in your deck, this card wouldn't be too bad to put into the active Pokemon spot because it doesn't require a specific type of energy and it has a solid HP, but looking at this card on its own, results in it not meriting use.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the Ancient Origins set.  There really is nothing wrong with this card and it would have gotten a 3 out of 5 rating if it didn't require 2 energy cards to do damage to the defending Pokemon, other than that this card is pretty solid with an average HP, low retreat cost, and the fact that it has two moves.  So while I wouldn't recommend using this card on its own, it would not be the worst thing in the world if you had to use it on its own.

Porygon -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Porygon Plasma Blast Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Porygon from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Porygon is a basic, colorless type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Porygon does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Tackle, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Porygon is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Porygon-2 and a stage 2 evolution in Porygon-Z, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, this card would work perfectly as a starter type Pokemon in any deck.  I say this because the card requires only one colorless energy card, can attack right away, and has a solid hp.  Even though this card would work perfectly in any deck, I wouldn't use more than one of these cards in a deck without its evolutions, because Porygon is quite limited.  So if you have this card in your deck, you'll want to get the card into your active Pokemon spot early, use Tackle a couple of turns, set up your benched Pokemon, and retreat Porygon after attacking a couple of turns.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  This card really isn't anything special, just an average, solid card overall.  There really is nothing to complain about with this card other than it is limited.  The hp on this card is good, it has an average move, and a low retreat cost.  So this card can be used in any deck being built that just needs one more basic Pokemon card in it to make it a 60 card deck.
