Poliwrath -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Poliwrath Sun and Moon Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Poliwrath from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Poliwrath is a Stage 2, Water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to Grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Poliwrath does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Split Spiral Punch, for one Water Energy card this move does 30 damage, plus it Confuses the defending Pokemon.  Poliwrath's second move is called Wake-Up Slap, for three Energy cards, one Water and two Colorless, this move does 80 damage plus 80 more damage if the defending Pokemon is affected by a Special Condition.  After using this move, all Special Conditions are removed from the defending Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Poliwrath is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Poliwag into play and then evolve it into Poliwhirl before you can evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were average overall but below average together.  I thought Poliwag was a solid starter type Pokemon for a Water type deck since it had an average HP and two moves, one that could do up to 60 damage per turn and the other that could do 10 damage for one Energy card.  Poliwhirl was average on its own as well, it had a solid HP and two moves, but its first move required coin flips to do damage, and its second move was average at best.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Poliwrath card, I would only use this complete line if your deck either has a lot of Pokemon that inflict Special Conditions, or you're comfortable with setting this line up on the bench, then using Split Spiral Punch one turn and Wake-Up Slap the next to do an average of 95 damage per turn.  In my opinion, this card is too slow to set up to make too much of a difference, but it is solid overall, since 80 damage or more per turn is still good.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  Although this card can only do major damage when the Defending Pokemon is inflicted with a Special Condition, I still think this card is solid overall and is worth a look when deck building.  All three Pokemon in this line from the Sun and Moon set received a 3 out of 5 rating individually, the same rating the three cards get combined.

Poliwrath -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Poliwrath Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Poliwrath from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Poliwrath is a Stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with a HP of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Poliwrath does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Dashing Punch, for one water energy card this move does 50 damage plus 50 more damage if Poliwrath was just switched to the active Pokemon spot the turn you're attacking.  Poliwrath's second move is called Whirlpool and for three water energy cards, this move does 80 damage, plus it discards an energy card attached to your opponent's active Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Poliwrath is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Poliwag into play and then evolve it into Poliwhirl before you can evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days, Politoed is the other Stage 2 evolution of Poliwag, but there is not a Politoed in this set.  If you've read my reviews of both Poliwag and Poliwhirl you'll know that I thought both cards were average to slightly below average.  Both cards were a little slow on the attack but once set up could definitely do some damage, the problem with Poliwhirl though it that it had a low HP so you didn't want to have it in the active Pokemon spot long.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Poliwrath card, since those cards are slower on the attack, you'll want to set  this entire line up on the bench, and since you only have to put one energy card on Poliwrath to attack, it makes for a quick set up, which is great considering this is a Stage 2 Pokemon card.  Ideally, you'll want to either use several Switch trainer cards, or figure out another way to quickly switch Pokemon in and out of the active Pokemon spot, that way you can use Poliwrath's Dashing Punch move every other turn and do 100 damage every single turn.  If you have the time, Whirlpool is a decent move that does above average damage, but again, Dashing Punch is the more powerful move.  I could see using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a water type deck, each evolution in this line can do some damage, and if you can retreat this card multiple times it can do major damage every time it is in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average to slightly above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Evolutions set.  Like I mentioned above, this card can be deadly if you can move this card in and out of the active Pokemon spot doing 100 damage a turn for only 1 energy card.  Overall, even though I gave Poliwag and Poliwhirl 2 out of 5 ratings, together all three get a 3 out of 5 rating from me, and should be considered when building a water type deck.

Poliwrath -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Poliwrath Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Poliwrath from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Poliwrath is a stage 2, water type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Poliwrath does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Steamroll, for three colorless energy cards this move does 60 damage, plus it does 30 damage to one of your opponent's benched Pokemon.  Poliwrath's second move is called Submission, this move requires four energy cards, two each of colorless and water, and does 130 damage, however this move does do 30 damage to Poliwrath.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Poliwrath is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Poliwag into play and then evolve it into Poliwhirl before you can evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  Poliwhirl does have another stage 2 evolution in Politoed which I'll be reviewing tomorrow.  If you've read my reviews of Poliwag and Poliwhirl you'll know that I thought both cards were around average individually and could be used without Poliwrath.  I really liked Poliwhirl in a spread damage type deck since it could do 100 damage a turn if the defending Pokemon had damage on it already.  So knowing this about Poliwhirl and looking at this Poliwrath card, I again would recommend to use this Pokemon line in a spread damage type deck.  I would put a 3-2-2 line of Poliwag, Poliwhirl, and Poliwrath in a deck.  I would try and get a Pokemon that does 10 damage to all of the opponent's Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot first, then I would put in Poliwhirl and use its move that does 100 damage a turn, in the meantime I would try and set up another line of this family on my bench, get four energy cards on it, and then put Poliwrath into the active Pokemon spot later in the game, I could then use Steamroll and hopefully knock out some of my Pokemon's benched Pokemon, and when it is late in the game be able to knock out the defending Pokemon by using Submission and doing 130 damage.  If you do use Poliwrath a lot in your deck, I would make sure to include some Potion cards in your deck to heal that 30 damage Poliwrath does to itself.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a very good Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  The only thing I don't like that much about this card is that it is slow on the attack requiring a minimum of 3 energy cards, but if you set this card up on your bench and are patient with it, this card can do a minimum of 90 damage total per turn and a maximum of 130 damage per turn every single turn.  So if you're building a water type deck or more specifically a water type, spread damage type deck, this Pokemon line is a must.  Altogether I would give this entire line a 4 out of 5 rating, it is just a great line overall, and one that can do a lot of damage to many Pokemon at once.  Individually I gave Poliwag a 2 rating, Poliwhirl a 3, and Poliwrath a 4.
