Pikachu -- Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Burning Shadows Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the Burning Shadows Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a Basic, Lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to Metal type Pokemon, and a one Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Tail Whap, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 10 damage.  Thunder Shock is this card's second move, for two Energy cards, one each of Lightning and Colorless, this move does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, the defending Pokemon is Paralyzed.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pikachu is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Raichu, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, you'll more than likely want to use this card with that Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed that card yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolution.  So, on its own, this card could certainly be used as a starter type Pokemon in a Lightning type deck since it can attack for one Energy card.  This card works well with Raichu from this set, since when you evolve Pikachu into Raichu, it Paralyzes the defending Pokemon, so you could get a head start on the paralysis with Thunder Shock.  Even without Raichu, this card is worth using in a deck because it can give you time to get your Benched Pokemon set up while your opponent's Active Pokemon is Paralyzed and can't attack.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Raichu, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Burning Shadows set.  Like I mentioned above, I like that this card has two moves, one that requires only one Energy card and the other that has a chance to inflict a Special Condition.  This is certainly the Pikachu card to use with Raichu from this set.

Pikachu -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Pikachu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Gnaw, for one colorless energy card this move does 10 damage.  Pikachu's second move is called Thunder Jolt and for two energy cards, one each of lightning and colorless, this move does 30 damage, however you must flip a coin when using this move, if you get a tails, Pikachu does 10 damage to itself.

So, on its own, the main thing you want to look at for determining if you should use a Basic Pokemon card solo in a deck is if it can attack for only one energy card, this card is good in that it can do damage for one energy card, and it can be any energy card since Gnaw requires a colorless energy to attack.  Another thing you want to look at is if the card has a solid HP, for Basic Pokemon, 60 HP is right about average and really the lowest HP you'll want to use in the active Pokemon spot.  Add in the fact that Pikachu has two moves, the second move being able to do 30 damage total, and if you're building a lightning type deck, this is definitely a suitable starter type Pokemon for that deck.  I would encourage some Potion trainer cards or a Trick Coin trainer be used with Pikachu to minimize the amount of damage Pikachu can definitely do to itself with Thunder Jolt.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Raichu, this is an average Basic Pokemon card overall from the XY Evolutions set.  Outside of doing damage to itself if you flip a tails when using Thunder Jolt, this card really doesn't have any negatives on it, it is one of the few cards I've reviewed from Evolutions so far to have a resistance, it has a solid HP, and two average to above average moves.  So Pikachu can easily work in most lightning type decks.

Pikachu -- BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Review
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to fighting type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Pikachu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Gnaw is the first move Pikachu has and does 10 damage for one lightning energy card.  Pikachu's second move is called Agility and for two colorless energy cards this move does 10 damage plus if you get a heads when flipping a coin, all of effects of an attack done to Pikachu during your opponent's next turn is prevented.

So, on its own, this card could be used as starter type Pokemon in a deck because it can retreat for one energy card, has an average HP, and can attack for one energy card.  However, since this card can only do 10 damage maximum it may not be that great later in games unless you're feeling lucky and think you'll be able to prevent your opponent from attacking with Agility.  So if you're building a lightning type deck, this card should be considered but I would rather use this card with Raichu or Pikachu EX.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Raichu, this is a pretty average Basic Pokemon card.  Other than not being able to do more than 10 damage a turn, this card is pretty solid, having a solid HP, low retreat cost, and two good moves.  So like I said above, this card could work in a deck on its own, but would be best as the first evolution in a full line of this Pokemon family.

Tomorrow's Pokemon Card:
So thanks for reading today's Pokemon card review of Pikachu from the BREAKthrough set, stay tuned for tomorrow's card review of Pikachu's stage 1 evolution Raichu, which is from this same set.  Make sure to check below for the Free Pokemon TCG Online Codes!

Pikachu -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Pikachu does not have an Ancient Trait or Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Tail Whip, this move requires one colorless energy card to use and makes the defending Pokemon unable to attack during its next turn if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Pikachu's second move is called Electro Ball, this move requires two energy cards to use, one each of lightning and colorless, and does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pikachu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Raichu, which is in both Furious Fists and the XY sets, you'll more than likely want to use this card with one of those cards.  However, since Raichu isn't in this set, and I've reviewed those Raichu cards previously, I'll just act like I'd use Pikachu on its own, you can always go back and read my Raichu reviews.  So on its own, this card could definitely be used as a starter type Pokemon in a lightning type deck.  It has a solid HP and low retreat cost, plus two moves, one is pretty average, possibly below average in Tail Whip, and the other, Electro Ball, is above average.  So what I would try and do with this card is to put 1 or 2 of these in a deck, and get Pikachu into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, get two energy cards on Pikachu, then use Electro Ball most turns, knocking out Basic Pokemon in two turns.  You could always attack a Trick Coin trainer card to this card and have a better chance at making your opponent unable to attack with Tail Whip.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, on its own, without considering Raichu, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  Other than not being able to do damage for only one energy card, this card is pretty good overall and I like Pikachu's second move that does above average damage for an attack like that on a Basic Pokemon card.  So if you're building a lightning type deck or are just a fan of Pikachu, this card is definitely worth consideration.

Pikachu -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost. Pikachu does not have an Ability and it only has one move, the only move this card has is called Thunder Shock, for two energy cards, one each of colorless and lightning, and does 20 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin the active Pokemon of your opponent's is paralyzed.

So, on its own I would consider using one of these cards in a lightning type deck.  I would try and get it into the active Pokemon spot early in the game, get two energy cards on it and use Thunder Shock every turn.  The earlier in the game you use Pikachu the more time you'll have to set up your benched Pokemon, because if you paralyze the defending Pokemon and make them unable to attack, 60 HP will go a lot farther than it should.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  So in my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Like I said, this card could be used in a deck on its own, but I would use only 1 at the most.  This card has an average HP, one good move, but it does take a while to use, and a low retreat cost.  So I would recommend looking for better lightning type cards out there to use, but if you really like Pikachu or need one more card for your deck, this one isn't that bad.

Pikachu -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pikachu Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the X and Y Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Pikachu does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Nuzzle, this move requires one colorless energy card and if you get a heads when you flip a coin paralyzes the defending Pokemon.  Pikachu's second move is called Quick Attack, this move requires two colorless energy cards and does 20 damage, plus 10 more damage if you get a heads when you flip a coin.

So, on its own this card would be an okay card to use, but I wouldn't put more than two of these in a deck.  You could start the game with this card in the active Pokemon spot, use Nuzzle the first turn and then Quick Attack after that.  Pikachu is pretty quick so it should give you plenty of time to set up your benched Pokemon and this card will fit great into any type deck because it only requires colorless energy cards to attack.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  This card can definitely be used in a deck on its own because it has two moves and requires colorless energy cards to use, but this card isn't much more than average so there are definitely better basic Pokemon out there.

Pikachu -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Pikachu Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Pikachu from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Pikachu is a basic, lightning type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Pikachu does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  Its first move is called Pika Punch and for one lightning energy card this move does 10 damage.  Pikachu's second move is called Double Voltage, this move requires three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless, and does 40 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip two coins.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Pikachu is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Raichu, there is not a Raichu card in this set but there is one in Next Destinies, I would recommend keeping Pikachu on your bench and evolving it into Raichu before moving it into the active Pokemon spot.  With that being said, you could definitely try and use this card on its own, or as a starter Pokemon that is used a couple of turns then is evolved into Raichu a few turns later.  I would recommend this card as starter Pokemon because its first move only requires one energy card, so it can attack right away, and then if you can't get Raichu into your hand very quickly, Pikachu has the potential to do 80 damage per turn if you get three energy cards on it.  So, if you have this card on your bench, keep it there until you evolve it into Raichu, if you're forced to put this card into the active Pokemon spot, use whichever move you have the required amount of energy for, unless you only need to do 10 damage to knock out the defending Pokemon, then you'll want to use Pika Punch since it does damage for sure.  I would only use 1 of these in a deck if you plan on using Pikachu on its own and not evolving it (like Ash), otherwise you can use more Pikachu in your deck if you're using Raichu.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average basic Pokemon card.  This is a very solid card in my opinion, it has an average hp, low retreat cost, one quick move, and one slower move that has a possibility of doing a great amount of damage.  So if you need one more Pokemon card in your lightning type deck, this one should suffice.
