Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Mewtwo EX, Mewtwo EX Full Art, and Mewtwo EX Full Art secret rare from the BREAKthrough Pokemon Card Set. This is the second set of Mewtwo EX from this set I've reviewed. Mewtwo EX is a basic, EX, psychic type Pokemon card with an hp of 170. It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost. Mewtwo EX does not have an Ability but it does have two moves. The first move that this card has is called Shatter Shot, for one psychic energy card this move does 30 damage times the amount of psychic energy attached to this card. Mewtwo's second move is called Damage Change and for three energy cards, two psychic and one colorless this move allows you to switch all damage counters on this Mewtwo card with all of the damage counters on the defending Pokemon.
Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, because Mewtwo EX is a basic Pokemon card you won't need to use any other cards with this card. But remember, because this card is an EX card, if this card is knocked out, two prize cards are taken instead of one. However, Mewtwo does have two different Mega EX cards it could evolve into and it has another EX version in this set. In the next couple of days I will be reviewing the Mega EX cards but later in this post I will be comparing both Mewtwo EX cards from this set. So looking specifically at this Mewtwo EX card, it is definitely wise to use this card in a mostly Psychic type deck so that the energy cards attached to Mewtwo are psychic thus allowing you to do more damage with Shatter Shot. The main reason you'd use this card in a deck is for Mewtwo's second move, Damage Change, ideally each time your opponent brings a new Pokemon into the active Pokemon spot you would want to use Damage Change and not only remove all damage from Mewtwo, but receive zero damage in return, then after that you could either retreat Mewtwo or use Shatter Shot for a few turns. This Mewtwo card would also work well with a Pokemon that attacks its own bench, that way you could direct that attack to this card and Damage Change would do more damage faster. Comparing the two Mewtwo EX cards in this set, this Mewtwo is much better, for two energy cards on both card, one can do 30 damage the other 80, so give the edge to this card. Plus, Damage Change has the potential to do 160 damage a turn. So if you want to use Mewtwo EX in a deck, use this one over yesterday's card.
Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating. In my opinion, this is an above average EX Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set. Like I said, of the two Mewtwo EX cards in this set, this is the one to use. It can do more damage not only quicker but overall. If you're building a psychic type deck, it is definitely worth consideration of using this card.
