Masquerain -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Masquerain from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Masquerain is a Stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with a HP of 90. It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Masquerain does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Struggle Bug and for one colorless energy card this move does 30 damage plus it allows you to move an energy card from your opponent's active Pokemon to one of their benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Masquerain is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Surskit into play (I reviewed Surskit from this set yesterday) and then evolve Surskit into Masquerain.  If you read yesterday's review of Surskit, you'll know that I thought it was an average to slightly below average Basic Pokemon card overall.  Other than its lower HP it was a good card since it could attack for only one colorless energy card and do up to 20 damage per turn.  So knowing this about Surskit and looking at this Masquerain card, since this card has a free retreat cost, ideally you would want to include this line in a deck that has either many Pokemon that can retreat for free, or a deck that can easily move Pokemon in and out of the active Pokemon spot.  You could set this card up on the bench and if a Pokemon is moved to the active Pokemon spot by your opponent that isn't set up yet, you could move this card into the active Pokemon spot and use Struggle Bug to make that Pokemon take even longer to get set up, or, if you know your opponent doesn't have any energy in their hand, you could use this move.  The key strategy with this card being keeping it on the bench and only putting it into the active Pokemon spot when removing an energy from the active Pokemon would be beneficial.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  Other than being limited in only having one move, this card is solid overall, it has an average HP, a free retreat cost, and a quick move that can use any type of energy card.  Together with Surskit, I would give these two cards a 3 out of 5 rating, this is a solid overall line that can be used in any type deck.

Masquerain -- Primal Clash Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Masquerain from the Primal Clash Pokemon Card Set.  Masquerain is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Masquerain does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Spiral Gyration, this move requires one grass energy card to use and it confuses the defending Pokemon and makes you switch Masquerain out of the active Pokemon spot for one of your benched Pokemon.  Masquerain's second move is called Air Slash, this move requires two colorless energy cards to use and does 50 damage, however you must discard an energy card attached to Masquerain when using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Masquerain is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Surskit into play (I reviewed Surskit from this set yesterday) and then evolve Surskit into Masquerain.  If you read yesterday's review of Surskit, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon card, it was just limited in what it could do having only one move that could do 10 damage and it only had 50 HP, which is a little low.  So knowing this about Surskit and looking at this card, I would not recommend using either of these two Pokemon in a deck.  I say this because Masquerain has a lower HP just like Surskit and neither move that Masquerain has is that great.  If you did decide to use this Pokemon line in a deck, I would only use a 1-1 line.  I would try and get Masquerain into the active Pokemon spot early, then use Air Slash first, discard an energy card, then the next turn use Spiral Gyration, confuse the defending Pokemon and switch Masquerain out of the active Pokemon spot.  This card really isn't that bad of a card, I am just not a fan of it since both moves have negatives about them.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Primal Clash set.  This card does have a low retreat cost and two moves which is nice, but the card has too low of an HP for my liking and neither move that this card has is that great, one move makes you switch Masquerain out, the other makes you discard an energy card.  So combined and individually, I would give this Pokemon family from the Primal Clash set a 2 out of 5 rating.

Masquerain -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Masquerain from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Masquerain is a stage 1, grass type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fire type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Masquerian's Ability is called Tool Reversal and allows you as often as you'd like during your turn to move a Pokemon Tool card from one of your Pokemon back into your hand.  Besides the Ability, Masquerain just has one move called Bug Bite, this move requires three colorless energy cards and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Masquerain is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Surskit into play (I reviewed Surskit from this set yesterday) and then evolve Surskit into Masquerain.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Surskit was a miserable basic Pokemon card, a card that should not be used in a deck, and a very poor card to have number one in the Plasma Blast set.  Because of this, this Masquerain card has to be very good for me to want to use it with Surskit.  And unfortunately, this card isn't that good in my opinion, so I would skip this Pokemon line completely when looking at grass type Pokemon cards to use in your deck from the Plasma Blast set.  However, if you choose to use this card in your deck, I wouldn't include more than 1 each of Surskit and Masquerain, and I would evolve Surskit into Masquerain on the bench, and put three energy cards on it there.  While on the bench, make sure to utilize Masquerain's Ability, if you even use Tool cards in your deck, and when you get three energy cards on it, move it to the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is a below average stage 1 Pokemon card.  This is a below average card in my opinion because it has below average hp, a poor Ability, and just an average move.  Pair this card with Surskit, and this family is worthless from the Plasma Blast set, I wouldn't give this line more than a 1 out of 5 rating.  The reason I didn't give this Masquerain card a 1 out of 5 is because Bug Bite requires only colorless energy cards and Tool Reversal is an okay Ability if you plan on using Tool cards in your deck.  But again, I stress, stay away from this line if possible.
