Machop -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Machop Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machop from the Guardians Rising set.  Machop is a Basic, Fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Machop does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  Its only move is called Dynamic Chop, for two Energy cards, one each of Fighting and Colorless, this move does 50 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machop is a Basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Machoke, and a Stage 2 evolution in Machamp, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Machop does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, if you're looking for a good amount of power from a Basic Pokemon in a Fighting type deck, this card is certainly recommended.  Being able to do 50 damage for two Energy cards is quite good.  With a solid HP and such a powerful move, this card makes a good starter type Pokemon for a deck.  However, later in games this card is limited in what it can do, and a 60 HP won't last long.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Basic Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  This card is very solid overall, with a powerful attack, and a solid HP.  But because this card's only move does require two Energy cards, and its retreat cost also requires two Energy cards, this card is average at best, but it is certainly worth a look when deck building.

Machop -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Machop XY Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machop from the XY Evolutions set.  Machop is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with a HP of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Machop does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Dual Chop, for two fighting energy cards, this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when flipping two coins.

On its own, it would be most likely to use a card like this as a starter type Pokemon, since it wouldn't evolve into anything else, unfortunately, this card isn't a great starter type Pokemon for two reasons, the first is that it can't attack for only one energy card and the second reason is that its only move, requires coin flips, which means it could end up doing zero damage every turn.  So while I would not recommend using this card on its own, if you're using the full line of this Pokemon family, it is worth attaching a Trick Coin item to Machop and seeing if you can do 40 damage a turn with Dual Chop, at least for one turn, since 70 HP is above average and it should be able to survive one turn before needing to evolve.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a slightly below average Basic Pokemon card from the XY Evolutions set.  Like I stated above, on its own, this card should not be used, since it is limited in only having one move, and that one move based on coin flips and requiring two energy cards.  However, when used with Machoke, this card isn't all that bad since it has an above average HP and potential to do 40 damage a turn.  So, to summarize, if you're looking for a Basic Pokemon card to use in a Fighting type deck, I would look elsewhere.

Machop -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Machop Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machop from the Furious Fists set.  Machop is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 70.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a two colorless energy card retreat cost.  Machop does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Knuckle Punch, for one fighting energy card this move does 10 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machop is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Machoke and a stage 2 evolution in Machamp, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, I wouldn't recommend using this card in a deck.  I say this because even though Machop has an above average HP, it is very limited move wise since it only has one move and the only move it has can only do a maximum of 10 damage.  Plus, if you put this card into the active Pokemon spot, you're going to have to attach two energy cards to it to retreat it.  If you do choose to use this card in your deck, only use one of these cards, try to get it into the active Pokemon spot early in the game and use Knuckle Punch every turn, then when you get one of your benched Pokemon set up, retreat Machop for that Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  Like I mentioned above, the only positive on this card is that it has a high HP.  Otherwise, the move it has is just average and cannot do much damage, and the retreat cost on this card is too high to warrant use.  So if you're building a fighting type deck, you're bound to find a better Basic Pokemon card out there than this card.

Machop -- Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Review

Machop Plasma Blast Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Machop from the Plasma Blast Pokemon Card Set.  Machop is a basic, fighting type Pokemon card with an hp of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Machop does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Low Kick, this move requires two energy cards, one each of fighting and colorless, and does 30 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Machop is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Machoke and a stage 2 evolution in Machamp, which I'll be reviewing the next few days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, I would not recommend using this card.  I say this because even though Low Kick does do above average damage and Machop has an average hp, the retreat cost is way too high for me to consider using this card in my deck.  If the retreat cost was one energy card or less I would recommend using two of these in a deck but it isn't so I can't recommend using it.  Of course if you plan on using this card in a deck without its evolutions, I would start the game with Machop with possible, wait two turns and then use Low Kick every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average basic Pokemon card.  Like I mentioned in the strategy section of this post, I do like Machop's only move but because this card has such a high hp, it is getting a below average rating.  So the high retreat cost combined with the slow move makes this card unplayable in my opinion.
