Hariyama -- Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Review

Hariyama Sun and Moon Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hariyama from the Sun and Moon Pokemon Card Set.  Hariyama is a Stage 1, Fighting type Pokemon card, with a HP of 130. It has a x2 weakness to Psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  Hariyama does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Push Out, for three Energy cards, one Fighting and two Colorless, this move does 60 damage, plus it forces your opponent to switch out their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon.  Hariyama's second move is called Megaton Slap Push, for four Energy cards, one Fighting and three Colorless, this move does 130 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hariyama is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Makuhita into play (I reviewed Makuhita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Makuhita into Hariyama.  If you read yesterday's review of Makuhita, you'll know that I thought it was an average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had an above average HP, and two moves, both having the potential to do more than average damage.  So it could be used on its own, or a good start to this line.  So knowing this about Makuhita and looking at this Hariyama card, because both of the moves on this card are slow to attack, I would recommend setting up the line on the Bench, therefore only using a 1-1 line of each Pokemon.  Hariyama's Push Out move would work well in a spread attack type deck.  If you're not using this type of deck, I would probably pass on this line altogether since Hariyama has a really high retreat cost, and two high attack cost moves.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Sun and Moon set.  This card is solid overall, having an above average HP and two good and powerful moves.  The downfalls to this card would be its high retreat cost and high attack costs.  So, again, if you're building a spread attack type deck I would consider using this line, otherwise, unless you are using 4 Double Colorless Energy cards, I would look elsewhere.  Combined with Makuhita from this set, which I gave a 3 out of 5 rating, I would give both of these cards a 3 out of 5 rating combined.

Hariyama -- Furious Fists Pokemon Card Review

Hariyama Furious Fists Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hariyama from the Furious Fists Pokemon Card Set.  Hariyama is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 120.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a four colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hariyama's Ability is called Thick Fat and says that any damage done to Hariyama by fire or water type Pokemon is reduced by 30.  Besides the Ability, Hariyama has one move called Rocket Slap, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one fighting, and does 80 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hariyama is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Makuhita into play (I reviewed Makuhita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Makuhita into Hariyama.  If you read yesterday's review of Golett, you'll know that I thought that card was a below average Basic Pokemon because even though it had a high HP, mainly because both of its moves were below average and the retreat cost on the card was extremely high.  So knowing this about Makuhita and looking at this Hariyama card, if you decide to use this line in a deck, I would highly recommend setting up Makuhita and evolving it into Hariyama on the bench, then I would make sure to have at least 3 energy cards on Hariyama before moving it to the active Pokemon spot, allowing you to use Rocket Slap right away.  Water and fire type Pokemon are pretty prevalent in decks, so you may be able to utilize Hariyama's Ability quite often making its HP of 120 seem even higher.  This card definitely isn't a bad card and I could see myself using a 1-1 line of this family in a deck.  Once you get Hariyama set up it is a very powerful attacker, but just note you need to have four energy cards to retreat it, and the most energy cards it requires to attack are three.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Furious Fists set.  I think this is an above average card because Hariyama has an above average HP, one good move, and an Ability that can be very effective.  I would definitely consider using this card in a deck, however when combining it with Makuhita from this set, which I gave a 2 rating, I would only give the family a 3 out of 5 rating, so you can definitely find better lines out there to use.

Hariyama -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Hariyama Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Hariyama from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Hariyma is a stage 1, fighting type Pokemon card, with an hp of 120.  It has a x2 weakness to psychic type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Hariyama does not have an Ability, but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Fake Out, this move requires two energy cards, one each of colorless and fighting, and does 30 damage, plus it paralyzes the defending Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Hariyama's second move is called Pivot Throw, this move requires three energy cards, two fighting and one colorless, and does 90 damage, however if your opponent's Pokemon attacks Hariyama during their next turn, that move is increased by 20.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Hariyama is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Makuhita into play (I reviewed Makuhita from this set yesterday) and then evolve Makuhita into Hariyama.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Makuhita was a terrible basic Pokemon, so because of this, if you want to use Hariyama in your deck, I would highly recommend evolving this line on your bench.  So if I were to use this line in my deck, I wouldn't use more than a 2-1 line, I would try and use Pivot Throw but only when the defending Pokemon would be knocked out by the move, otherwise it will take away Hariyama's advantage of having an above average hp for a stage 1 Pokemon.  I would not use this card or line in a deck if I were looking to build a fighting type deck, neither card is anything great and overall the line is definitely below average.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  I like that Hariyama has an above average hp, and two solid moves.  Both moves aren't that quick, but neither aren't that slow, and both moves do average to above average damage.  However, I do not like the fact Hariyama's retreat cost is 3 energy cards and if you're trying to use this card with Makuhita from this set, it makes this card seem that much worse.  Overall, I would give the line of Makuhita and Hariyama from the Plasma Freeze set a 2 out of 5 rating.  Makuhita had a 1 and this card of course received a 3.
