Goodra -- Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Review

Guardians Rising Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goodra from the Guardians Rising Pokemon Card Set.  Goodra is a Stage 2, Dragon type Pokemon card, with a HP of 160.  It has a x2 weakness to Fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three Colorless Energy card retreat cost.  This card does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move on this card is called Power Whip, for one Colorless Energy card, this move does 20 damage times the amount of Energy attached to this Pokemon to one of your opponent's Pokemon.  Beat Slider is the name of this card's second move, for three Energy cards, one each of Water, Fairy, and Colorless, this move does 130 damage, plus your opponent must switch their Active Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goodra is a Stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Goomy into play and then evolve it into Sliggoo before you can evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last two days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were below average overall.  Both Pokemon had well below average HP and both Pokemon were slow on the attack, when trying to do damage, plus each card required two distinct types of Energy cards to attack.  Knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at this Goodra card, you'll first notice that this card also requires Fairy and Water type Energy, so if you're building this type of dual type, this line should be considered, otherwise it is harder to fit into a deck.  The main reason you'd include this Goodra card in your deck is if you're building a spread attack type deck.  Both moves on this card has the potential to attack a wide variety of your opponent's Pokemon, Power Whip you get to choose, and Beat Slider, your opponent gets to choose which new Pokemon to put in the Active Pokemon spot.  So, essentially, if you're not building a spread attack type deck, there is no reason to use this Pokemon or line in a deck, and if you do use this entire line, because Goomy and Sliggoo are so poor, try and evolve this entire line on the Bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Guardians Rising set.  I certainly like both moves on this card, and this card can do major damage overall if given time to be set up, but because this is a Stage 2 Pokemon with two poor prior evolution forms, I can't give this line more than a 2 out of 5 combined rating, and it should only be used in a spread attack type deck.

Goodra -- Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Review

Goodra Ancient Origins Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goodra from the Ancient Origins Pokemon Card Set.  Goodra is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goodra does not have an Ability or an Ancient Trait but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Liquid Blow, for two colorless energy cards this move does 20 damage to one of your opponent's Pokemon for each colorless energy cards in their retreat cost.  Goodra's second move is called Shining Breath, for four energy cards, two colorless and one each of water and fairy, this move does 110 damage, plus during Goodra's next turn it can't be affected by an special conditions.

If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were very poor, both had well below average HP, under powered moves, and were just slow to attack in general, and in Sliggoo's case, also had a very high retreat cost.  So knowing how poor the first two Pokemon cards in this line are and looking at this Goodra card, of course the first thing that stands out is its Shining Breath move which does a whopping 110 damage every single turn for four energy cards.  If you're building a dual type deck of water and fairy type Pokemon, this card and line is a must, setting up the entire line on the bench and getting four energy cards on Goodra, then cleaning house once you get this card set up.  Another option for Goodra would be to use this card in a spread attack type deck, that way, you can have a fair amount of damage on all of your opponent's Pokemon then put Goodra into the active Pokemon spot and attack the stronger Pokemon first, or at least the ones with higher retreat costs using Liquid Blow move.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Ancient Origins set.  This card has a good HP, and two above average moves.  This card can do major damage every single turn if you'd like or it can attack Pokemon on your opponent's bench and knock them out.  Too bad Goomy and Sliggoo from this set weren't a bit better because I can't give this line any better than a 2 out of 5 rating looking at all of the cards combined, but if you're patient and willing to set this line up on the bench, definitely go ahead and use it.

Goodra -- Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Review

Goodra Phantom Forces Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goodra from the Phantom Forces Pokemon Card Set.  Goodra is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 140.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goodra's Ability is called Slip Trip, and it makes it so neither player can attach a Pokemon Tool card from their hand to one of their Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Goodra just has one move called Dragon Pulse, this card requires four energy cards to use, two colorless and one each of water and fairy.  This move does 130 damage every turn, but it does force you to discard the top card of your deck when using.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Goodra is a stage 2 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Goomy into play and then evolve it into Sliggoo before you can evolve Sliggoo into Goodra, both of those Pokemon are from this set and I've reviewed both of them the last couple of days.  If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both cards were well below average Pokemon cards.  Both had below average HP, could not do damage very quickly, and in Sliggoo's case, had a very high retreat cost.  So knowing this about the first two Pokemon in this line and looking at Goodra, since Goodra is very powerful on the attack, if you're building a dual type deck of water and fairy type Pokemon, I would definitely consider using a 1-1-1 line of this Pokemon family.  That way you could set up the entire line on the bench, get four energy cards on Goodra and then move it to the active Pokemon spot to use Dragon Pulse every turn.  Using only one each of the first two Pokemon in this line, will minimize the chances of you having to actually use those Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot.  If you plan on using Goodra for quite awhile, which you should, try and find a way to move cards from your discard pile back to your deck, making Dragon Pulse that much better of a move if you don't have to technically discard anything each turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average, Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Phantom Forces set, that is similar to the Hydreigon card I reviewed a couple of days ago, but just not as good.  I like how this card's attack is extremely strong and can be used every turn, however, this card's Ability isn't that great, especially if you like to use Tool cards in your deck, you can't really use the Ability.  Together with Goomy and Sliggoo from this set, I wouldn't highly recommend them, I would only give them a 2 out of 5 combined rating.  Both Goomy and Sliggoo are that poor, that I would really give it some thought if I wanted to use Goodra in a deck.

Goodra -- Flashfire Pokemon Card Review

Goodra Flashfire Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Goodra from the Flashfire Pokemon Card Set.  Goodra is a stage 2, dragon type Pokemon card, with an hp of 150.  It has a x2 weakness to fairy type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a three colorless energy card retreat cost.  Goodra's Ability is called Gooey Regeneration, this ability allows you to discard an energy card attached to Goodra and heal 60 damage from it.  Besides the Ability, Goodra just has one move called Heavy Whip, this move requires three energy cards, one each of water, fairy, and colorless, and does 80 damage, plus if you get a heads when you flip a coin the move does 40 more damage.

If you've read my reviews of those cards you'll know that I thought both Pokemon were very weak in this set and I wouldn't use those two without Goodra because they both have low HP and cannot do much damage when attacking.  Because the first two Pokemon in this line are so bad, if you choose to use this card in a deck, make sure to evolve the entire line on the bench and then get Goodra to have at least 4 or 5 energy cards before moving it to the active Pokemon spot.  That way you can use Heavy Whip every turn, then if Goodra is close to feinting you can use its Ability and heal 60 damage from it, and then continue on with Heavy Whip because you'll still have at least 3 energy cards on Goodra.  Of course if you want to use this line in a deck, you'll have to use it in a dual type deck of water and fairy type Pokemon, and you'll want to have a low number of each of these Pokemon because Goomy and Sliggoo are so bad, so if I were to use this line in a deck I would use a 1-1-1 line.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 4 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an above average Stage 2 Pokemon card from the Flashfire set.  I really like this card's Ability and its only move, both are above average, but the reason I didn't give this card a 5 out of 5 rating is because the retreat cost on this card is high, and the energy cards Goodra requires is a bit strange making it fit only in certain type decks.  Overall, I would give this entire line of Goomy, Sliggoo, and Goodra from the Flashfire set a 3 out of 5 rating, it could definitely be used, but you'll have to really hope you won't need to use the first two Pokemon in this line at all or for long.  Individually I gave Goomy a 2 rating, Sliggoo a 1, and Goodra a 4.
