Froakie -- BREAKpoint Pokemon Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Froakie from the BREAKpoint set.  Froakie is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an HP of 60.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Froakie does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Bubble, for one water energy card this move paralyzes the defending Pokemon when you get a heads when flipping a coin.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Froakie is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Frogadier, and a Stage 2 evolution in Greninja, which I'll be reviewing the next couple of days, you'll more than likely want to use some of those Pokemon with this card, however, since I have not reviewed any of those cards yet, I will just act like Froakie does not have any evolution forms and that it will be used on its own.  On its own, the strategy is very simple, do not use this card.  I say this because Froakie doesn't have a move that does any damage, and the one move that it does have, only works approximately 50% of the time, and when it does work it only paralyzes the defending Pokemon.  So even if you use this card with its evolution forms, I would recommend keeping this card on the bench.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 1 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a very poor Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKpoint set.  Besides having a solid HP, and low retreat cost, this card is just too limited in what it can do, only having one move, and the one move it has not only unable to do damage, but is based off of a coin flip as well.  So definitely look elsewhere when building a water type deck.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Froakie is a basic Pokemon card with a Stage 1 evolution in Frogadier, which I'll be reviewing tomorrow, and a Stage 2 evolution in Greninja, which is in the XY set, I will be reviewing this Froakie card as if I'd be using it on its own.  So looking at just this Froakie card, if it would have had 60 HP instead of 50, I would have been okay with using this card in a deck, however because it has a below average HP I cannot recommend using this card in a deck on its own.  Other than the low HP, this card can attack quickly and requires one energy card of any type, so it fits in all decks.  So if you really like Froakie you could definitely try and get this card into the active Pokemon spot to start the game, use Pound a couple of times then retreat it, but I would not recommend using it.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average Basic Pokemon card from the BREAKthrough set.  Not only is this card extremely limited in what it can do, having only one move and no Ability but its HP is pretty low making this card unusable on its own.  So if you're building a water type deck, look elsewhere for a Basic Pokemon to use.

Froakie -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Pokemon Card Overview:

Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Froakie from the X and Y Pokemon card set.  Froakie is a basic, water type Pokemon card with an hp of 50.  It has a x2 weakness to grass type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Froakie does not have an Ability and it only has one move.  The only move that this card has is called Bounce which requires one water energy card and does 10 damage, however if you get a heads when you flip a coin you must move Froakie to the bench and put in a different Pokemon in the active Pokemon spot.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Fennekin is a basic Pokemon card with a stage 1 evolution in Frogadier and a stage 2 evolution in Greninja, which I'll be reviewing the next two days, you'll more than likely want to use those cards with this Pokemon.  However, since I haven't reviewed those cards yet, I'll just act as though I plan on using this card without its evolutions.  So on its own, I would not use this card in a deck.  I say this because Froakie has a low hp which makes it an easy target late in games plus the only move it has may end up forcing Froakie to the bench which makes this card a poor starter type Pokemon.  Of course if you use this card in a deck, your only option will be to use Bounce every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 2 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is a below average basic Pokemon card from the X and Y set that should not be used in a deck on its own.  Because of the reasons stated in the strategy section of this post I would not use this card without its evolutions.  Hopefully Frogadier is a little better than this card when I review it tomorrow.
