Electrode -- Evolutions Pokemon Card Review

Electrode Evolutions Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the XY Evolutions Pokemon Card Set.  Electrode is a Stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with a HP of 80. It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electrode has an Ability called Buzzap Thunder that says once per turn, you may Knock Out Electrode and attach it to one of your lightning type Pokemon as a special energy card, counting as 2 lightning energy cards when attached to a Pokemon.  Besides the Ability, Electrode has one move called Head Bolt, for three energy cards, two lightning and one colorless, this move does 70 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a Stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode.  If you read yesterday's review of Voltorb, you'll know that I thought it was a below average Basic Pokemon card overall, it had a solid HP, a low retreat cost, and could attack quickly, but it was limited in that it just had the one attack, and that one attack was based off of a coin flip and only had a 50/50 shot at doing damage.  So knowing this about Voltorb and looking at this Electrode card, since the only move that this card has requires three energy cards and Voltorb isn't very good, I could potentially see using a 1-1 line of this Pokemon family in a lightning type deck, setting it up on the bench, using Head Bolt every turn when in the active Pokemon spot, then right before Electrode is going to be knocked out, using its Ability, giving your opponent a prize card and discarding all cards attached to Electrode, but saving Electrode from the discard pile by attaching it to one of your benched Pokemon.  This line could work well in decks that have Pokemon which require a lot of energy cards to attack since Electrode could speed up this process.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion, this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card overall from the XY Evolutions set.  I like the above average move that this card has and the Ability that is really a one time use Ability, but lets you do something useful with Electrode instead of just plain being knocked out.  But because this card has a below average HP and Voltorb is below average overall, I would only give these two Pokemon combined a 2 out of 5 rating.

Electrode -- Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Review

Electrode Roaring Skies Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the Roaring Skies Pokemon Card Set.  Electrode is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, a -20 resistance to metal type Pokemon, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electrode does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Continuous Tumble, for one colorless energy card this move does 20 damage times the number of heads you get when you flip a coin until you get a tails.  Electrode's second move is called Energy Bomb, this move requires three energy cards to use, two colorless and one lightning, and does 70 damage, plus you may move all energy from Electrode to your benched Pokemon.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode.  If you read yesterday's review of Voltorb, you'll know that I thought it was a a very poor Pokemon card mainly because it could only paralyze the defending Pokemon or knock itself out and do 60 damage, so basically it could not be used as a starter type Pokemon and rendered it useless in my opinion.  So knowing this about Voltorb and looking at this Electrode card, this card is definitely better as far as Stage 1 cards go, but it still isn't great.  Since I am not a fan of coin flip based moves, I would not recommend using Continuous Tumble unless you only have one or two energy cards on Electrode, otherwise use Energy Bomb every single turn, and make sure to move all of your energy cards from Electrode to your benched Pokemon if you know that Electrode will be knocked out during its next turn.  I would not recommend using this Pokemon line in a deck, mainly because Voltorb is just too poor and Electrode doesn't make up for this fact, you'd be able to find much better lightning type Pokemon out there.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average Stage 1 Pokemon card from the Roaring Skies set.  This card has an average HP, low retreat cost, and two moves, one above average, Energy Bomb, one below average, Continuous Tumble.  Like I said above, even though this Electrode card is average, I can not recommend using Voltorb and Electrode from Roaring Skies in a deck, together I can only give them a 2 out of 5 rating.

Electrode -- Pokemon X and Y Card Review

Electrode Pokemon X and Y Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the Pokemon XY Card Set.  Electrode is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy retreat cost.  Electrode does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  The first move that this card has is called Eerie Impulse, for one lightning energy card this move allows you to discard an energy card attached to your opponent's active Pokemon if you get a heads when you flip a coin.  Electrode's second move is called Rollout, this move does 40 damage for two colorless energy cards.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Voltorb was an average basic Pokemon card that had a cool Ability but probably shouldn't be used on its own too often.  So knowing this about Voltorb, if you were to use this line in a deck, I wouldn't use more than a 1-1 line and I would try and evolve Voltorb into Electrode on the bench early in the game then move Electrode into the active Pokemon spot and use Rollout every turn.  If you're okay with not using Eerie Impulse, this line can fit into any type deck since it requires only colorless energy cards to attack.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card from the X and Y set.  This card is just plain average overall, hp, retreat cost, moves, etc.  Even though this card is average, it would make a solid addition to a deck so I could definitely see myself using Voltorb and Electrode together in a deck, together I would also give these two Pokemon cards a 3 out of 5 rating, which is what each card received individually.

Electrode -- Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Review

Electrode Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the Plasma Freeze Pokemon Card Set.  Electrode is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 90.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a one colorless energy card retreat cost.  Electrode's Ability is called Magnetic Draw, which says that once during your turn you may replenish your hand until you have four cards in it.  Besides the Ability, Electrode has one move called Electro Ball, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one lightning, and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that I thought Voltorb wasn't the greatest basic Pokemon card out there but I still thought it could be used in a deck on its own.  So after saying that, if you want to use Electrode in your lightning type deck, I would include a 2-2 or 2-1 line of Voltorb and Electrode.  Preferably I wouldn't want to move Voltorb into the active Pokemon spot before it has two energy cards on it or Electrode until it has three energy cards on it.  I would prefer to evolve Voltorb into Electrode on the bench and then use Electrode's Ability if needed on the bench before putting into the active Pokemon spot to use Electro Ball every turn.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  Even though Electrode's Ability isn't the greatest and may never be used, I'm still giving this card an average rating because Electrode has an average hp, low retreat cost, and an average move.  Altogether, the line of Voltorb and Electrode from the Plasma Freeze set would get a 3 out of 5 rating, it is an average line overall, but one that could be in many lightning type decks out there.

Electrode -- Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Review

Electrode Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card
Pokemon Card Overview:
Today's Pokemon Card Review is of Electrode from the Boundaries Crossed Pokemon Card Set.  Electrode is a stage 1, lightning type Pokemon card, with an hp of 80.  It has a x2 weakness to fighting type Pokemon, no resistance type, and a free retreat cost.  Electrode does not have an Ability but it does have two moves.  Its first move is called Static Shock.  This move requires one colorless energy card and does 20 damage.  Electrode's second move is called Electro Ball, this move requires three energy cards, two colorless and one lighting, and does 60 damage.

Pokemon Card Strategy:
So as far as strategy goes, since Electrode is a stage 1 Pokemon card, you'll first have to get Voltorb into play (I reviewed Voltorb from this set yesterday) and then evolve Voltorb into Electrode.  If you read yesterday's review, you'll know that Voltorb really isn't anything special so you'll be better off keeping Voltorb on the bench and evolving it into Electrode there.  Once you have Electrode on your bench, I would suggest getting three energy cards on it.  That way, when you retreat or have your active Pokemon get knocked out, you can move Electrode in for a turn or two, use Electro Ball those turns then retreat Electrode for free once you get one of your benched Pokemon set up.  If you can't use Electro Ball, you'll have to get one energy card on Electrode and use Static Shock instead.  I would consider using Electrode in a lightning type deck and would use it basically as a filler Pokemon to do some damage to your opponent's active Pokemon while setting up your benched Pokemon, then moving it in and out of the active Pokemon spot for free when timing suggests.  If I were to use this card in a lightning type deck, I would use a 1-1 line of Voltorb and Electrode in that deck.

Pokemon Card Rating:
I would give this card a 3 out of 5 rating.  In my opinion this is an average stage 1 Pokemon card.  Even though this card has a below average hp, I am still giving this card an average rating because of the fact it has a free retreat cost, requires mostly colorless energy cards, and has two decent moves.  Overall however, I'm giving this line a 3 out of 5 rating, between Voltorb and Electrode there really isn't anything that separates these Pokemon from others, so you can definitely find a better line to use, but its not the worst thing possible to use this line.
